Every word here is his. Nothing has been paraphrased, joined or improved. Each passage was cut out of the book it belongs to by reference, and each carries that book and the paragraph it came from (and, where he was speaking rather than writing, the name of the lecture with the place and the year the volume records for it), so anything on this page can be found again in the source. The teaching is gathered here from all fifty-two books.

The first part is the mind as the instrument of the heart: the Christ-mind defined by what it obeys, the Kundalini of the mental body that christifies it, and the wise mind that works with the Inner Self: “The mind, which does not reason and only acts under the orders from the heart, is the “Christ-mind”.” “The miracle worker utilizes mental energy, but uniting it with the Inner Self.”

The second part is the animal mind: the mental ghost that is not yet a mental body, the lunar mind of a bestial nature, the reasoning that is good for nothing, the donkey that rides on us, and the Guardian of the Threshold of the mind: “The mind is the most rebellious animal that we have within” “We say that man has many minds, each one a ghost of the plural “I”.”

The third part is the fourth serpent, which rises through the spinal column of the mental body and converts the material mind into Christ-mind, and the fire of the igneous rose: “Without the fire, it is impossible to christify the mind, and the fire can only be awakened with sexual magic and love.” “…we shine like Christ.”

The fourth part is the brain filled with the semen: the chalice, chastity and sexual magic, the Christ-Mind as transmuted semen, and the mental body created from the Sexual Hydrogen: “…the chalice represents the mind of the human being.” “It is necessary to cerebrize the semen. It is necessary to semenize the brain.”

The last part is the mind in the hands of the Intimate Christ: the child born at the fourth initiation, the Christ Astral and the Christ Mind, the donkey mounted for the entry into Jerusalem, and the Inner Christ who takes possession of the mental body: “In the Fourth Initiation of Major Mysteries the Christ Mind is born.” “…to mount the symbolic ass (the mind), tame it, control it”

IOnly acts under the orders from the heart

In a run of short lines the Christ-mind is defined three ways: it obeys only hunches, it does not reason but acts under the orders of the heart, and it does not react to external impacts. The same lines name the Kundalini of the mental body as the means, and close with the earthly thoughts that must be expelled from the mental temple, in the words of H.P.B.

A practice

It is important to Christify the mind; the “Christ-mind”.

Zodiacal Course, 1951 also in The Mind

The mind which only obeys hunches is a “Christ-mind”.

Zodiacal Course, 1951 also in Imagination, Inspiration, Intuition, The Mind

The mind, which does not reason and only acts under the orders from the heart, is the “Christ-mind”.

Zodiacal Course, 1951 also in The Mind

The mind which does not react before external impacts is a “Christ-mind”. The mind should become the instrument of the heart.

Zodiacal Course, 1951 also in The Mind

The total Christification of the mind is only achieved with the Kundalini of the “Mental Body”.

Zodiacal Course, 1951

The Kundalini of the mental body is the fourth degree of the power of fire.

Zodiacal Course, 1951

A practice

Through the Kundalini of the mental body we extract the “Christ-mind” from the animalsoul. We must expel all kinds of earthly thoughts from the mental temple. Master H.P.B. says the following in the “The Voice of the Silence”: “Thou have to reach the fixity of the mind in which no breeze, however strong, can waft an earthly thought within. Thus purified, the shrine must of all action, sound, or earthly light be void; even as the butterfly, overtaken by the frost, falls lifeless at the thresholdso must all earthly thoughts fall dead before the fane”. “Behold it written:”

IIThat is the wise mind

Mental force used without the Inner Self, or without the consent of the Lords of Destiny, is called black magic, while the Christ-mind works with the law. The christified mind becomes the Arhat's most precious instrument and thinks with a superior, transcendental logic; Thoth is named its God.

They grant what we ask for, when Karma allows it. However, if our petition is not granted, then Uriel will show the disciple “the clock of destiny” and, in this case, we have no other option but to bow down our head before the verdict of the Law. In the actual world, there is a great number of schools that try to accomplish these same “miracles” by mental force, without taking into account at all, the approval of the Lords of Destiny. That is simply, pure and legitimate black magic. The Christ-mind works well with the law. Black mental waves do not arrive where they are sent because a multitude of aerial “elementals”, that trap and intercept their path, exist in the subtle world. Innumerable forces, which divert or disintegrate destructive mental waves, also exist in space. Therefore, evil waves can only cause harm when the victim does not know how to love nor forgive.

Zodiacal Course, 1951 also in The Law of Destiny, The Law of Karma

Mental energy is absolutely deficient when it does not work with the energy of the Inner Self. The miracle worker utilizes mental energy, but uniting it with the Inner Self. That is the wise mind. The miracle worker works only with the divine powers of his “Inner Angel” and his Christ-mind. The saintly masters of the white brotherhood cooperate with the magician and his Christ-mind. The sidereal genii perform their miracles with the ray of justice when the magician officiates on the altar of the “Lion of the Law”.

66. When the mind is completely christified, it then converts itself into a splendid and marvellous vehicle with which we can study all the secrets of this igneous rose of the universe, 67. The Christ-mind is the most precious instrument of the Arhat.

The Solar Mental Body has three hundred thousand clans or magnetic centers and all of them must vibrate within the same tone... and without even a hint of arrhythmia. Those Initiates who possess Solar Mental Bodies always think with Superior Logic, with Transcendental Logic.

IThe mental ghost of everyone is not the mental body

Ordinary people have many minds, one for each "I", and what passes for their mental body is only a ghost or facade. Like a mirror that gathers dust, the mind has to be cleaned each day, and it must pass through a death of the ego so that a true mental body can be born.

The disciple should receive instructions from his own “Inner-Being”, and the Inner Being’s duty is to instruct his Bodhisattva, that is to say, his soul anxious for Light The doctrine of “Shin-Sien” teaches that the human mind is like a mirror, which attracts and reflects each dust atom, and has to be dusted each day, until becoming a “Christ - mind”. Shin-Sien was the sixth patriarch of northern China, who taught the esoteric doctrine of “Boddhidharma”.

Zodiacal Course, 1951 also in The Being Is the Being, The Human Soul

Whoever wants to incarnate his soul must have a mental body. People as yet do not have the mental body. The so-called mental body of the ordinary person does not deserve the title of mental body. The mental ghost of everyone is not the mental body. We need to create the mental body.

Christmas Messages, 1952–66 also in The Human Soul, The Mind, The Solar Bodies

The ego is only dissolved by comprehending our errors profoundly in all the levels of the mind. Only on the basis of creative comprehension can we achieve the mystical death. The mind must pass through a supreme death and through a supreme birth. It is necessary for the ego to die. It is urgent for the mental body to be born.

Christmas Messages, 1952–66 also in Psychological Death, The Science of Meditation, The Subconscious

A fourth octave permits us to engender the Christ Mind. This vehicle gives us true wisdom and unity of thought. Only he who engenders the Christ Mind has the right to say: “I have a mental body”. The current mental body is but a ghost of a facade. This becomes really a hollow shell when the true mind is born. It disintegrates, is reduced to cosmic dust.

Tarot and Kabbalah, 1978 also in The Mind

It is said that man has a mind. We say that man has many minds, each one a ghost of the plural “I”. Each “I” has its own mind and even its own self-independence. Man is a sleeping machine driven by the legion of the “I”. We must engender the Christ Mind.

IIThe lunar Mental Body is of a bestial nature

The intellectual animal has an animal mind, as the beasts do, and in the mental world his face takes the shape of an animal. The solar mental body is set against it as its antithesis, a body made in the Ninth Sphere, and with it comes mental humanization.

The fact that the Intellectual Animal has an Animal Mind is not a marvel, since the Irrational Beasts also have it. What happened is that the latter never gave an Intellectual form to their minds that is the only difference.

The Solar Bodies, 1968

If we truly want to think with a Christ-Mind, with Superior Logic, with the Intelligence of a Gnostic Arhat, it is indispensable to build the Mental Body.

The Solar Bodies, 1968 also in Alchemy, The Mind

The face of the Mental Body of almost all human beings has an animal appearance. When we observe the customs and habits of the human species we then understand why the Mental Body of people has an ani mal physiognomy.

Tarot and Kabbalah, 1978

The lunar Mental Body is of a bestial nature. The Solar Mental is the antithesis, is the Christ Mind.

Tarot and Kabbalah, 1978

The lunar Mental Body which we possess is of a bestial nature, and even the animals and plants have it. The only difference there is between the beasts and the inappropriately named “man” is that he has been given intellectuality, whilst the beasts only act instinctively.

Tarot and Kabbalah, 1978

The Solar Mental Body is not a vague, abstract body, it is a body of flesh and bone; but of everlasting flesh which does not come from Adam and which can traverse a wall. It must be fabricated in the Ninth Sphere. The Solar Mental is a body of perfection which eats, drinks, assimilates, digests, has its special foods, its nutrition, its development. In the world of the Mind there are many Temples which must be conquered with the point of the Sword. When one works in the Fourth Initiation of Major Mysteries, one meets with many tenebrous ones, and must fight. When one acquires this body, one receives the grade of Buddha. The Blessed Mother of the World presents the person in the Temple of the Mind saying: “Here is my beloved Son, here is a new Buddha”. She then places upon her Son the diadem of Shiva and the yellow robe of the Buddha.

Tarot and Kabbalah, 1978 also in Netzach, The Solar Bodies, Whose Veil No Mortal Has Lifted

Third: Humanization of the mental body; the ghostlike mental body of every human being commonly has the face and figure of an animal, it is animalized. When the matter-mind is transformed into Christ Mind, we achieve mental humanization. The mind represents the human animal. At present mankind is human only in appearance, but he is still essentially an animal. In the mental world, every person has the shape of the animal that corresponds to his or her human character or nature.

IIIThis specific type of mind differs very much from the animal intellect

Pseudo-occultists mistake the lunar, intellectual demon for the true mental vehicle; it occupies the place where the Christ-Mind should be. The solar mental body is not given at birth and has to be crystallised through the Sahaja Maithuna, and the mind that results differs from the animal intellect as water from oil.

Unfortunately, the great clairvoyants from the reactionary Pseudo-Esoterism and PseudoOccultism are also mistaken. Lamentably, they confuse the Demon Hai, horror of Osiris, with the legitimate Mental Solar Vehicle.

My Return to Tibet, 1969 also in The Solar Bodies, The Three Traitors

It is unquestionable that the cited Intellectual Demon is the Lunar, Animal Mental Body which presently is occupying inside the human organism, the place which the authentic Christ-Mind from the favourable Mutant should occupy.

My Return to Tibet, 1969 also in The Mind, The Solar Bodies

The Intellectual Animal is not born with the solar type Mental Body, he must build it if what he wants is to convert himself into a favourable Mutant.

My Return to Tibet, 1969 also in The Solar Bodies

A practice

It is ostensible that the Alchemist, by means of the Sahaja Maithuna, can and must transmute the Sexual Hydrogen TI-12 by passing it into a third musical octave. The outcome of such a procedure is the crystallisation of that cited element into the splendid and amazing form of a supra-sensible mental solar vehicle.

My Return to Tibet, 1969 also in The Solar Bodies

This is the Christ-Mind of the Gnostic Arhat, an extraordinary outcome of sexual mutation. This specific type of mind differs very much from the animal intellect as the water differs from oil.

IVYour reasoning is good for nothing

The primitive who did not reason was guided by instinct, and at the end of the cycle, with the mind christified, the end is found to equal the beginning plus experience. Since no one can know more than God, the disciple is told to drive the merchants from the temple of the mind and to christify it, for useless reasoning destroys the mental body.

10. You are before the Dawn of Life, brother of mine.... You were a primitive, savage Indian within the virginal jungle of Arcadia.... You were worshipping the rising sun, yet, you did not use reasoning. You guided yourself wisely with only the voice of your instinct.

Igneous Rose, 1954

11. At the end of your journey, brother of mine, after having Christified your mind, you found that the end is equal to the beginning, plus the experience of the cycle. 12. Did you convince yourself that you could not kno w more than God?

27. Christify your mind, good disciple. Transmute the water into wine and open your doors to your internal God, so that He may teach you the Divine Wisdom. Thus you will eat the bread of wisdom without the necessity of useless reasoning that destroys your mental body.

VThe donkey rides on us

The schools that fatten the mind with mental force lead many into the Black Lodge. The mind lives by reacting, like water struck by a stone or a donkey that only moves when beaten, and people adore the donkey while they crucify the Christ who rode it.

All religions, sects, lodges, schools, etc. are pearls strung on the golden thread of the Divinity and they all contain the universal religious principles, but like Sivananda says, this path is full of dangers within and without. This is the path of the razor’s edge. Almost all spiritualist schools teach how to develop mental force; they all want to fatten the mind. This is how many fall into the Black Lodge; the mind is the donkey on which we should ride into Celestial Jerusalem.

The Greater Mysteries, 1956 also in The Mind

The mental body is the donkey that we should ride in order to victoriously enter the celestial Jerusalem (superior worlds). There we are received with palm leaves, praises and celebration. The mental body is a material, dense body. The four bodies of sin, the physical, etheric, astral and mental bodies, are material bodies. The mind is the most rebellious animal that we have within, and we have to crucify that mind on the sacrificial altar. The mind is the den of desire and wickedness.

The Greater Mysteries, 1956 also in Desire and Will, Entropy and Sacrifice, The Mind, The Solar Bodies

If we throw a stone into a lake, we see waves coming out that go from the center to the periphery. Those waves are the reactions of the water due to the stone’s impact. This is how the mind is. It lives incessantly reacting against the impacts coming from the exterior world. If we are insulted, we want to hit back; if we are tempted, we react full of carnal passion; if we are flattered, we are all smiles; if we are insulted, we respond with evil. The mind is like the donkey that goes faster if beaten, and if not beaten, goes slower. Krishnamurti who speaks so much about the mind, has not managed to christify it. The 33 spinal chambers of Krishnamurti’s mental body are filled with darkness because he has not raised the fourth serpent; he lacks sexual magic. All desires, egotisms, crimes and perversities live in the mind of man; only the fire burns that scum.

The Greater Mysteries, 1956 also in Anger, Desire and Will, The Mind

True happiness cannot exist within each one of us while we are slaves of the mind. To ride on the donkey (the mind) in order to enter into the heavenly Jerusalem on Palm Sunday is urgent. Disgracefully, nowadays, the donkey rides on us, the miserable mortals of the mud of the earth.

Yes, There Is a Hell, a Devil and Karma, 1973

What is interesting about all of this is that Jesus, the Great Kabir, rode on the donkey (the mind) to enter Celestial Jerusalem on Palm Sunday; this is how the gospels explain it, this is how they tell it, but the people crucify Jesus the Christ and adore the donkey. This is how humanity is my dear brothers, this is the way this epoch of darkness is in which we live.

VIThe Guardian of the Threshold of the Mental body

Every reaction of hatred and rage departs from a demonic creature that guards the threshold of the mental body and enslaves the mind. The Arhat must strip himself of it by fire to convert mind-matter into Christ-Mind, and while christifying his mental body he meets adepts of the shadow who look like Masters.

The mental center from where these reactions of understanding depart is a terribly demonic mental creature. This creature is the Guardian of the Threshold of the Mental body. This mental Guardian enslaves the mind of all human beings. All of those reactions of hatred, rage, violence, egotism, etc. depart from him.

Occult Medicine and Practical Magic, 1955 (ed. 1978)

The Arhat must despoil himself from this horrible Guardian in order to convert his mindmatter into Christ-Mind. This labor is performed by means of fire. When the igneous serpent of the Mental body reaches the spinal vertebra which corresponds to the igneous wings, then the Arhat must courageously confront this tenebrous creature and defeat it in a terrible fight, hand to hand.

Occult Medicine and Practical Magic, 1955 (ed. 1978) also in The Mind

They can easily turn aside many investigators because they have the appearance of Masters. When the Master is christifying his Mental body, then he has to confront great battles against these very dangerous adepts of the shadow.

Part Three — The fourth serpent transmutes the material mind into Christ-mind

7 passages

IThe fourth serpent corresponds to the mental body

The mental body has its own medulla and serpent, and the fourth serpent, rising chamber by chamber, transmutes the material mind into Christ-mind. Its ascent depends on the merits of the heart and on the fire of sexual magic, and is called slow and difficult; reasoning must end and intuition wake so that the mind rests in the hands of the Inner Self.

The fourth serpent corresponds to the mental body, and permits us to christify the mind. The Christ-mind takes us to the fourth initiation of greater mysteries, and confers the degree of “Arhat” upon us.

Zodiacal Course, 1951

The mental body also has its medulla and its serpent. The ascent of the Kundalini of the mind is achieved with the merits of the heart.

Zodiacal Course, 1951

52. When the mental body has been totally christified by the fourth serpent, it converts itself into an efficient instrument for the Intimate.

Igneous Rose, 1954

We have to end with reasoning and awaken intuition. It is only in this manner that we can learn the true wisdom of God. It is only in this manner that the mind remains in the hands of the Inner-Self. The true positive function of the mind is art, beauty, love, music; the mystical art of loving, of divine architecture, of painting, singing, culture, technique, placed at the service of man, but without egotism, without wickedness, without hatred, etc. The intellect is the negative function of the mind; it is demonic.

The Greater Mysteries, 1956 also in Imagination, Inspiration, Intuition, The Mind

The fourth serpent transmutes the material mind into Christ-mind. This serpent rises through the spinal column of the mental body. Jesus entered each of the 33 chambers of the mental world. As his fourth serpent rose from vertebra to vertebra, he transmuted his material mind into Christ-mind. Without the fire, it is impossible to christify the mind, and the fire can only be awakened with sexual magic and love.

The Greater Mysteries, 1956 also in Netzach, The Mind, The Solar Bodies

The Fourth Serpent of Light absolutely christifies the Mind; we then have the mind of the Lord and when He expresses himself through this mind, we are ineffable Gods, we shine like Christ.

The Greater Mysteries, 1956

The shining Dragon of Wisdom---I wish to refer to the Logos of the solar system of Ors--gave a specialist the noble mission of assisting and helping me. To raise the Fourth Serpent along the medullar channel of the mental body, from vertebra to vertebra and chakra to chakra, is certainly something very slow and awfully difficult. "Before the flame of gold can burn with a serene light, the lamp must be taken care of, and be in a place free of the wind''.

IIWhen this Energy reaches the Mental Body

The creative energy has to be turned inwards and upwards, through the etheric and astral bodies to the mental body, where it makes the human mind a Christic mind. At the third eye, the throne of the mind, the same transformation brings the cape of the Buddhas.

A practice

Every man, every human needs to awaken the KUNDALINI! He needs to make that Creative Energy return INWARDS and UPWARDS! When the Creative Energy reaches the Etheric, the latter is transformed into the wedding dress of the Soul. On rising to the Astral Body, the Chakras awaken and the subject, the student becomes an authentic Theurgist. When this Energy reaches the Mental Body, the powers of the Mind are awakened. This is how the human mind becomes a CHRISTIC MIND.

Logos, Mantram, Theurgy, 1959 also in The Solar Bodies

When the Kundalini reaches the height of the third eye the Church of Philadelphia is opened. This is the “eye of wisdom.” The Father dwells in this magnetic center. The chakra of the third eye has two petals and is the throne of the mind. When the mind-matter is transformed into Christic-mind we receive the Cape of the Buddhas and the Eye of Shiva. All those who awaken this frontal chakra become clairvoyant.

IIIHow we christify the mind within the igneous rose

An ardent mind and flaming thoughts are needed to enter the universal flames. Light and fire, sexual magic and the Kundalini of the mental body convert the material-mind into Christ-mind, and the Arhat then speaks the verb of light.

We need an ardent mind. We need flaming thoughts. We need the Christ mind of the Arhat in order to penetrate into the frightful blaze of these universal flames, where the secrets of the igneous rose of Nature terrifically sparkle.

IFill your chalice with the blood of the lamb

The chalice is the brain, the instrument of the mental body, and the semen is the golden oil that rises to it. A fornicator can never christify his mind; the married christify it by sexual magic and the single by transmutation, and the vow of eternal chastity is the condition.

IIIt is impossible to separate the mind from sexuality

Mind and sex are bound together, so the seminal energy must be raised through the two ganglionic cords to the brain, and without fire the mind cannot be christified. Masturbation ruins the brain, the semen must be cerebrized, and during sexual magic the Master invokes Sarasvati and the forces of the Father to engender the Christ Mind.

A practice

5. It is impossible to separate the mind from sexuality. The mind and sexuality are intimately related. It is necessary to invoke the forces of the Holy Spirit during Sexual Magic. It is urgent to call the forces of the Christ so that they give rise to the birth of the Christ Astral in the depths of our interior universe. It is indispensable to ask the forces of the Father for assistance with our mind. We need to engender the Christ Mind. The physical, astral and mental vehicles must become fine instruments of the Spirit.

The result is quickly apparent, and the new adolescent, following mistaken advice, gives himself over to the vice of masturbation or deviates onto the path of homosexuality. The vice of masturbation totally destroys brainpower. It is necessary to know that there exists an intimate relationship between the semen and the brain. It is necessary to cerebrize the semen. It is necessary to semenize the brain.

IIIThe Christ-Mind is pure transmuted semen

IVTo create the mental body

Hydrogen 12 left unspent in the astral body nourishes the mental body, and only with that body does a person become an individual. Pranayama and concentration never build it; it is made by not spilling the semen, by transmuting the sexual hydrogen Si-12, so that the mind is first individualized and then transcended.

This is the system in order to create a mental body. Thus the mental body is born. The mental body gives us true mental individuality. The mental body makes us into individuals. Only with the mental body do we become individuals. It is false to say that we are already individuals. At this moment in time we are only machines controlled by the legion of the ‘I’. That is all. The excess of the vital substances that are not wasted in the astral body can then be utilized for the nourishment of the mental body. Hydrogen 24, when it is not being totally consumed in the astral body, becomes Hydrogen 12, which is used to nourish the mental body.

In the same way that we create the physical body, we also have to create an individual mind. Only through the intelligent transmutation of the Sexual Hydrogen Si-12 is it possible, then, to shape the individual, personal mental body. And only someone who possesses an individual mind is properly prepared for superior, objective knowledge. Nor do I want to deify the mind; I just want to say that there is a need to individualize it and then transcend it.

IIChrist Astral and Christ Mind

Superior Mind and Superior Emotion are two centers the "I" cannot rule, and no one uses them who has not engendered the vehicles of the Christ Astral and the Christ Mind by the Arcanum A.Z.F. A comparison follows between these immortal vehicles and the mental ghost of the dead.

The “I” exerts control over the five inferior centers of the human machine. These five centers are: intellect, movement, emotion, instinct and sex. The two centers of the human machine that correspond to the Christ Consciousness are known in occultism as the Christ Mind and the Christ Astral. These two superior centers cannot be controlled by the “I”. Unfortunately, the superior mind and We can be assured that the past conditions our present life. We can affirm that Satan is time. We can say without fear of making a mistake, that time cannot free us from this valley of tears, because time is Satanic. We have to learn how to live from moment to moment. Life is an eternal now, an eternal present. Satan was the creator of time. Those who think to liberate themselves in a distant future, within a few million years, with the passing of time and the ages, are sure candidates for the abyss and the second death because time is of Satan. Time liberates no one. Satan enslaves. Satan does not liberate. We need to liberate ourselves right now. We need to live from instant to instant. Every human being has seven basic, fundamental centers. Let us see: superior emotion does not yet have these two precious Christic vehicles at their disposal. When the superior mind is clothed with the Christ Mind and when the superior emotion is invested with the Christ Astral, really we are elevated to the state of the true human being. Everyone who wishes to dissolve the “I” should study it’s functions in the five inferior centers. We should not condemn the defects; neither should we justify them. The important thing is to comprehend them. It is urgent to comprehend the actions and reactions of the human machine. Each one of these five inferior centers has a set of very complicated actions and reactions. The “I” works with each of these five inferior centers, and comprehending deeply the whole mechanism of each of these centers, we are on the way to dissolving the “I”. In everyday life two people react differently to the same event. What is agreeable for one person can be disagreeable for another. Many times the difference is that one person can judge and see with the mind, and the other’s emotions are touched. We should learn to differentiate between mind and emotion. The mind is one thing and emotion, another. In the mind there is a whole set of actions and reactions that must be comprehended. In the feelings there are attachments that should be crucified, emotions that should be carefully studied and in general a whole mechanism of actions and reactions that are easily confused with the activities of the mind.

Upon arriving at this part of work, the venerable matter has become a most beautiful child radiating with beauty: the Soma Puchicon, the Body of Gold. With this precious vehicle we can consciously visit all the realms of the Kingdom. This Alchemical alloy now yields new properties, and then from inside the astral ghost appears the Astral Christ—the most precious child who grants us immortality. When this second body has been formed, the problem then comes of integrally understanding all of its powers and acquiring the knowledge for its use. This is only possible by giving Christic intelligence to this alloy. The precious vehicle of the Christ Mind happily rises in the Retort of the laboratory, emerging from inside the mental ghost.

Christ Astral and Christ Mind Man has two centers that he still does not use—his Superior Mind and Superior Emotion. These are his two divine centers; the true instruments of the eternal and imperishable man with Soul. With these two superior centers we can profoundly study the great mysteries of life of death. We have been told that with these two superior centers we can penetrate into the Great Reality that is found far beyond time and eternity.

Whoever believes that he now uses these two centers, without having engendered the vehicle of the Christ Mind and the vehicle of the Christ Astral, is totally mistaken. It is necessary to beget these two vehicles in order to clothe the Superior Mind and the Superior Emotion. Only with the Arcanum A.Z.F. is it possible to engender these two superior vehicles. In the Third Initiation of Major Mysteries the Christ Astral is born. In the Fourth Initiation of Major Mysteries the Christ Mind is born. The astral and mental bodies, studied thoroughly by all occultists and about which Theosophy speaks a great deal, are but mere miserable specters of death that must be fulminated by the terrible thunderbolt of Cosmic Justice. The Tower of Babel shall thus fall, and Satan shall tumble to the Abyss.

IIIGentle and mounted on a donkey

The mind is the donkey to be ridden into the celestial Jerusalem, as in the Gospel's entry on Palm Sunday, which is also the christification of the initiate's mental body. To ride rather than be ridden, it is to be ordered, scolded and tamed as a mule driver treats a stubborn animal.

15. The Mind is the donkey that we must ride to enter the celestial Jerusalem on Palm Sunday.

It is urgent, indispensable, to mount the symbolic ass (the mind), tame it, control it; only in this way we can liberate ourselves from it to enter the worlds of the Spirit (the celestial Jerusalem).

<< When Jesus came near Jerusalem and reached Bethpage at the mount Olives, He sent out two disciples saying to them, “Go to the village opposite you and immediately you will find a donkey hitched and a colt with her. Unhitch them and bring them to Me. Should anyone say anything to you, you reply, ‘The Lord needs them’, and without delay he will let them go” This happened so that the saying of the prophet might be fulfilled, “Tell Zion’s daughter, ‘Behold, your king is coming to you, gentle and mounted on a donkey (symbol of the mind), even on a colt, the foal of a beast of burden’”

The Three Mountains, 1972 also in The Mind

A practice

The mind is a donkey which we must mount in order to enter the Celestial Jerusalem. We must order the mind thus: “Mind, withdraw that problem from me, mind, withdraw that desire, etc. I will not allow it, I am your lord and you are my slave until the end of all time.”

Tarot and Kabbalah, 1978 also in Desire and Will, The Mind

A practice

It becomes indispensable to learn to see the mind as something that we should dominate, as something that, we can say, we need to tame. Let us remember the Divine Master Jesus entering Jerusalem on his donkey on Palm Sunday; that donkey is the mind which we need to subdue. We should ride the donkey, and not have the donkey ride us.

The Second Jewel implies the discipline, of the mind, dominating, whipping, scolding it. The mind is an unbearable donkey that we need to tame!

Like this, little by little, we are going to dominate it. We have to learn to discuss with it, treat it the same way the mule drivers treat a donkey which does not want to obey. Brothers, have you seen how horse tamers treat horses? There are times when they even scold them, and so we must do the same with our mind: treat it like a donkey or like a horse, like something that has to learn to obey. Do not be a slave of the mind, because if we are slaves of the mind, we are going to fail.

Corrected October 2026. Earlier versions of this booklet gave some of the Master's early passages on awakening the Kundalini without noting his later teaching that it awakens only through the couple. Notes now sit beneath those passages, and our own headings have been put right. With thanks to the reader who pointed it out.

How this was made. All fifty-two books were extracted (73,105 paragraphs, 2,157,671 words) and swept on his words for it: the Christ-Mind by name (Christ-Mind, Christ Mind, Mind-Christ, Christ-Mental, the christic or christified mind); christifying the mind or the mental body; the mental body made solar, born or christified, or carrying the fourth serpent and the Kundalini; the mind and the Christ in one sentence; the mind as the donkey; the brain semenized. The Christ-Will and the Christ-Astral were taken only where the mind stood beside them, and the paragraph either side of every core paragraph was taken too. That returned 260 candidate paragraphs in 29 books. Every candidate was read twice, by independent readers working from a written brief. The two passes agreed on whether to print 94.2% of the time and on the class 86.9%, and a third reader, who saw neither verdict, settled the 15 disagreements. The 21 paragraphs that open a sentence the readers had found running on were then read the same way, and both readers printed all 21; the editor read the last two such openings. 136 were judged printable. 15 of them were set aside as the same teaching, kept where it stands in another of his books, and 11 were joined into the passage before them, where his sentence ran across several short paragraphs, so 110 passages are printed here. The rest are recorded with the reason each was set aside.

What was set aside. 35 belonged to another built work, 30 were neighbours on another subject, 19 named the subject only in passing, 1 was narrative, and 1 was a false friend. 42 more were judged and not printed, and 19 were judged the second halves of sentences begun in the paragraph before.

Some of it he spoke. 3 passages come from the Fifth Gospel, across 3 named lectures, each cited by the name of the lecture with the place and the year where the volumes record them.

No sentence of his is cut in half. Each range was extended against the corpus until his sentence closed, a passage that turned out to be the second half of the one before it was absorbed into it, and 15 ranges run over more than one paragraph. Three words split by the scanner were closed up.

71 passages also stand in a finished work, and every one is marked where it stands, most of them in The Mind and The Solar Bodies. The editor ruled that this work prints in full and that shared passages print here too. An overlap is allowed wherever the teaching needs it. What is not allowed is an overlap a reader cannot see.

Checked five ways. Every reader’s note was proved to sit on the passage as it is actually printed. Every printed pair was compared as sequences. Every ragged edge was repaired or named. Every one of the 25 passages marked a practice was proved to carry its own instruction. And every passage was checked word for word against a fresh extraction of its book.

A work of The Christ, the third after The Intimate Christ and The Solar Logos, and of The Mind. It takes the mind christified, the mind that obeys the heart, and the Intimate Christ who rides it into Jerusalem. It wears the Christ family’s lilac mist and the themed works’ two hairlines, in the emerald of Netzach, the sphere of the mind.
