Every word here is his. Nothing has been paraphrased, joined or improved. Each passage was cut out of the book it belongs to by reference, and each carries that book and the paragraph it came from — and, where he was speaking rather than writing, the name of the lecture with the place and the year the volume records for it — so anything on this page can be found again in the source.

He states the law in one line. “Everything happens again as it happened before, but with its consequences, good as well as bad.” And he gives it a shape: “Time is round and everything is repeated, at times in higher Spirals, at times in lower Spirals.” The first part is the law itself, in a life, in the history of races, and in the worlds.

It works through the return. “We return incessantly in order to always repeat the same dramas, the same tragedies.” The second part is the return that carries it, and the accounts, some of them his own, of the same people meeting again in another life.

Someone acts the scenes. “The actors of all these scenes are the "I"s which we carry within and which come from former existences.” The personality does not come back: “The Personality is born in its own time and dies in its own time.” The third part is the actors, and the recurrence that happens inside a single life, every day.

And it can be broken. His argument is short: “there cannot be any scenes without actors.” The fourth part is the way out, from the dissolution of the actors to the most modest thing he offers: “The only thing we can do is to change our attitude toward life’s events.”

IEverything happens again as it happened before, but with its consequences

He states the law. Everything that happened happens again, together with its good and bad consequences. He pairs it with the law of return and says it is the same law as karma under another name.

The initiates of the Fourth Way define recurrence as the repetition of acts, scenes and events. Everything is repeated. The Law of Recurrence is a tremendous re ality. In each reincarnation the same events are repeated. The repetition of acts is accompanied by its corresponding karma. This is the law that reconciles effects to the causes that gave rise to them. Every repetition of acts carries karma and sometimes dharma (recompense). Those who work with the Great Arcanum, those who tread the straight, narrow and difficult Path of the Perfect Matrimony, are freed little by little from the Law of Recurrence. This law has a limit. Beyond that limit we become Angels or Devils. With White Sexual Magic we become Angels. With Black Sexual Magic we become Devils.

The Perfect Matrimony, 1950 (ed. 1966)

The life of every human being in the physical world is a repetition of the past life, plus its good and bad consequences. Time is round and events are repeated at the correct time and day. This is the Law of RECURRENCE. Everything happens again as it happened before, but with its consequences, good as well as bad. This is the law of Karma, the law of action and consequence.

The Book of the Dead, 1965

Each life is a repetition of the past one, plus its good or bad, pleasant or unpleasant consequences.

Esoteric Treatise of Hermetic Astrology, 1967

However, the Law of Reoccurrence is terrible, because everything is repeated as it once happened, along with its consequences.

Runic Magic, 1969 also in The Words He Uses

Upon returning to this vale of tears, the same is repeated due to the Law of Recurrence; that is, that everything happens again the same as in other lives. The Law of Return is intimately linked, associated, with the Law of Recurrence. That is to say, everything happens again just as it happened, with the addition of its good or bad consequences. The same dramas are repeated; this is called Karma.

Tarot and Kabbalah, 1978 also in The Words He Uses

In accordance with the wise Law of Recurrence, everything in life returns again to occur just as it happened within the vicious circle of time.

My Return to Tibet, 1969

Beautiful poem, is it not? “Nothing can be that has not formerly been. Nothing can be that shall not become tomorrow.” Behold here the law of Recurrence. A constant repetition of successive lives.

My Return to Tibet, 1969

Thus, in every existence everything comes to occur again such as it happened before. Indeed, “time is woodworm’s dust, pains through Satan…”

My Return to Tibet, 1969

The repetition of this drama of existence is a vicious circle…

My Return to Tibet, 1969

The Law of Eternal Return of all things is always combined with the Law of Recurrence.

The Mystery of the Golden Blossom, 1971

B) Acts based upon the eternal Laws of Return and Recurrence.

The Three Mountains, 1972

Everything happens again as it has happened already, plus the positive or negative consequences.

The Three Mountains, 1972

When the ego, returns, on reincorporating itself, everything happens as it has happened, plus the good and bad consequences.

Yes, There Is a Hell, a Devil and Karma, 1973

All those events proper of repeated existences are always accompanied by good and bad consequences, in accordance with the law of cause and effect.

Yes, There Is a Hell, a Devil and Karma, 1973

Answer: Friends, in no way can there be confusion between the laws of recurrence and karma, since both are the same with a different name. Indubitably, karma works on firm bases; it is but an effect of the cause that we ourselves sow; therefo re, the same deed has to repeat itself arid also the good or bad results.

Yes, There Is a Hell, a Devil and Karma, 1973

25. Why do people have to be born, die, and return to repeat the same old song?

Beyond Death

Certainly people repeat, as you say, the same old song. I want to refer to the Law of Recurrence. In each life, we again repeat all that we did in the previous one, but we suffer the consequences of the good and the bad that we did in the past life. This is a vicious circle, repetition of dramas, scenes, romances, reencounters with the same people, etc., etc., etc.

Beyond Death

So, there are two laws: the Law of the Eternal Return of all things and the Law of Recurrence, where everything happens again as it had happened. So, we all return.

The Fifth Gospel Chaotic Consciousness and Intelligent Consciousness Public Lecture – Torreón, Coahuila, Mexico

It is clear that the Law of Recurrence exists and that all events repeat; that everything really happens again just as it happened plus the good and bad consequences; this is obvious. Now, the important thing is to achieve the transformation of life, and this is possible if one profoundly decides to do it.

The Fifth Gospel Intelligent Assimilation of Impressions

15 passages

IITime is round and everything is repeated

He teaches that time is round. Time is a closed curve that turns inside the circle of eternity, and he traces the idea of the eternal return to Pythagoras, the Hindu cosmogony and the Buddha.

The circle of time revolves within the circle of eternity. In eternity there is no time, but time revolves within the circle of eternity. The Serpent always bites its own tail. A time and a personality end, but with the turning of the wheel, a new time and a new personality appear upon the Earth. The ego is reincarnated and everything is repeated. Th. last realisations, sentiments, preoccupations affections and words cause all the sexual sensations and all the amorous drama which gives rise to a new physical body. All the romances of mar ried couples and lovers are related to the last moments of the dying. “The path of life is formed by hoofprints of the horse of death.” At death, time closes and eternity opens. The cirde of eternity first opens and then closes when the ego returns to the circle of time.

The Perfect Matrimony, 1950 (ed. 1966)

Time is circular, and the life of the human personality is a closed curve.

Fundamental Education, 1970

The wise idea of the Eternal Return of all things is invariably united to Pythagorean wisdom and to the Sacred Hindustani Cosmogony.

The Solar Bodies, 1968

The entire Doctrine about the life of Brahma, Mahamanvantaras and Pralayas, Kalpas, the breath of Brahma, etc., are intimately related to the Doctrine of Pythagoras and to the Law of Reoccurrence or Eternal Return.

The Solar Bodies, 1968

An in depth analysis of Buddhism takes us to the conclusion that Buddha taught the Law of Eternal Return or Reoccurrence in his Doctrine of Successive Lives.

The Solar Bodies, 1968

Simplicius, cited by Ouspenski, wrote: “Pythagoreans stated that the same things are repeated over and over again.”

The Solar Bodies, 1968

In connection with this theory, it is interesting to observe the words of Eudemus, disciple of Aristotle (in the third book of Physics); he stated: “Some people accept and others reject that time is repeated. Repetition is understood in diverse ways. One type of repetition can occur in the natural order of things, for instance the repetition of summers, winters and other seasons, in the way that a new season comes after the disappearance of the other. The movement of heavenly bodies and the phenomena produced by them belong to this order of things, such as the solstices and equinoxes that are produced by the movement of the Sun.”

The Solar Bodies, 1968

“Yet, if we are to believe the Pythagoreans, another type of repetition exists. This means that I will talk to you and sit exactly like this while holding in my hand the same stick, and everything will be the same as now, and time, as you might expect, will be the same. Because, if the movements of the heavenly bodies and many other things are the same, then, what has already occurred in the past and what will occur afterwards are also the same. This also is applied to Repetition, which is always the same. Everything is the same.”

The Solar Bodies, 1968

To the Law of Reoccurrence (magnificently exposed by Eudemus in the former paragraphs) the only thing we have to add is the Spiral that according to Pythagoras is the curve of life.

The Solar Bodies, 1968

Time is round and everything is repeated, at times in higher Spirals, at times in lower Spirals.

The Solar Bodies, 1968

In truth, moments are eternally repeated, but do not let time be confused with eternity. Within the eternal Now of the great life there is an incessant repetition of events and moments.

My Return to Tibet, 1969

The curve of time revolves within the perfect circle of eternity, but it is clear that these two wheels are different.

My Return to Tibet, 1969

The repetition of cycles according to the law of recurrence is different, and this we have verified in the days and nights of Brahma, with its ever incessant repetition, in the seasons of each year that repeat themselves, in the diverse cosmological eras that never stop repeating themselves, etc.

Yes, There Is a Hell, a Devil and Karma, 1973

None of this is regression my friends; all of this moves in accordance with the wheel; all of this forms part of the continuous movement However, it is necessary to understand that the law of recurrence is repeated in spirals sometimes higher, sometimes lower; the spiral is the curve of life.

Yes, There Is a Hell, a Devil and Karma, 1973

Continuing with this, we will say: eternity swallows those who leave this world, but in the long run, it vomits them –why would it want them there? Do we, by any chance, know how to handle universal forces?–. At the right time and at the right moment, we return, we come back, we are back into this world. It will not be very pleasant to return, right? But we do come back! That is the Law of the Eternal Return of all things: the planets return to their starting point after a few years; the atoms, within the molecule, return to their original starting point; the seasons of spring, summer, autumn, and winter return every year. Everything returns, everything comes back! Why should we be an exception?

IIIThe spiral is the curve of life

He teaches that the repetition runs on a spiral. Each life is repeated on a higher or a lower turn, and those who have not dissolved the ego go down, as far as the abyss.

The Spiral Line is the line of life and each life is either repeated in more elevated, evolutive spirals, or in lower, involutive spirals.

Esoteric Treatise of Hermetic Astrology, 1967

All types of celebrities are hypnotized by triumph; this is precisely their great danger. They ignore that they are going down on a descending spiral. Thus, they enter into the Infernal Worlds inebriated by triumph.

The Solar Bodies, 1968

So, the Law of Recurrence is the cause for the devolution of all of these types of people in the Infernal Worlds. Within the Abyss they have to repeat (in a devolving manner) all of the animal, plant and mineral processes (which, in times of yore, they had already passed through yet in an evolving manner).

The Solar Bodies, 1968 also in The Words He Uses

Each time that the ego returns into this valley of Samsara it repeats exactly all of the acts of its previous lives, sometimes in elevated spirals, sometimes in more lower spirals.

My Return to Tibet, 1969

If we have exhausted the diverse processes of the h obviously we should go up or down. Some ascend and others fail into submerged involution.

Yes, There Is a Hell, a Devil and Karma, 1973

Those who have dissolved ego ascend; those who have not, descend.

Yes, There Is a Hell, a Devil and Karma, 1973

Indubitably, there exist various forms of the great law of recurrence; in this talk we propose to study these varied forms.

Yes, There Is a Hell, a Devil and Karma, 1973

Diverse scenes of our previous lives repeat themselves, whether it be on more elevated spirals or on lower spirals.

Yes, There Is a Hell, a Devil and Karma, 1973

The spiral is the curve of life and is always symbolized by the shell. We are bad shells in the bosom of the Father.

Yes, There Is a Hell, a Devil and Karma, 1973

Question: Master, does the law of recurrence end with the 108 lives?

Yes, There Is a Hell, a Devil and Karma, 1973

Answer: Friends, once the cycle of human existences assigned to every soul concludes, the law of recurrence also concludes in the infernal worlds with humanoid scenes, animal-like states, vegetable-like and mineral-like states repeating themselves. Before reaching the humanoid state, we go through the mineral, vegetable and animal states; but once exhausted the cycle of human existences, on entering the abyss, the animal-like, vegetable-like and mineral-like states are once again repeated. This is how the law of recurrence works.

Yes, There Is a Hell, a Devil and Karma, 1973

We also affirmed in our past talks that after the second death, the essence, what we have of a soul, ascends once again in an evolving manner from the mineral kingdom to the intellectual animal mistakenly called man, passing through vegetable and animal phases. However, there is in this law of transmigration of souls something that we have not said. We have cited the law of eternal return, we have mentioned that other great law known as recurrence, but we should clarify that these two mentioned laws, develop and unfold on the spiral line of life.

Yes, There Is a Hell, a Devil and Karma, 1973

This means that each cycle of manifestation is processed in spirals, each time higher within the great spiral line of the universe.

Yes, There Is a Hell, a Devil and Karma, 1973

But this time it is happening in a superior spiral. We are not dedicated to moving tables or making ghosts appear or anything like that. We will have the strictly necessary phenomena. I am sure we are not going to overdo it this time. When I say that we are not going to overdo it this time, it means that, in the past, we overdid it a little. We did some pretty strong experiments, not just me, you did too. But anyway, this time we are not going to overdo it.

The Fifth Gospel The Binary Serpentine Power

IVThe law of recurrence works in all the corners of infinite space

He shows the law at work beyond one person. Races, civilisations and wars repeat, the Earth repeats the history of the Moon, and even the gods repeat the scenes of past cosmic days.

This event will be repeated in accordance with the Law of Reoccurrence. The entrance of this present humanity into the submerged involution of this planetary organism on which we live becomes evident.

Runic Magic, 1969

In accordance with the wise Law of Reoccurrence, which is always processed in all of the worlds, it is obvious that the First Selenite Human Root Race was a generation of giants. Based on this cited law, we can comprehend without much difficulty that the last families of Selene were Lilliputians, extremely small in stature.

My Return to Tibet, 1969

The Law of Reoccurrence is being repeated here on the planet Earth, with the whole evolving and devolving processes of such lunar germs (let us not forget that our world is a child of Selene).

My Return to Tibet, 1969

If everything is repeated, then it is indubitable that the whole history of this terrestrial humanity is just a repetition, through time, of the annals from Selene.

My Return to Tibet, 1969

Obviously we unfold, evolve arid involute on the spiral line of existence, Another form of recurrence can be evinced in the history of the Earth and its races. The first subrace of our actual Aryan race unfolded on the central plateau of Asia and had a powerful esoteric civilization. The second subrace flourished in the south of Asia, in the Pre-Vedic epoch and then the wisdom of the Rishis of India and the splendors of ancient imperial China, etc., was known. The third subrace marvelously unfolded in E Persia, Chaldea, etc. The fourth subrace shone with the civilizations of Greece and Rome. The fifth was perfectly manifested with Germany, England and other countries. The sixth resulted from the mixture of the Spaniards with the native races of Indo-America. The seventh is perfectly manifested in the result of all the diverse mixes of races, such as can be evinced today in the territory of the United States.

Yes, There Is a Hell, a Devil and Karma, 1973

Since each of the great races that have existed in the world have always ended with a great cataclysm, we can logically deduce that our Aryan race is to end very soon, also with another tremendous cataclysm.

Yes, There Is a Hell, a Devil and Karma, 1973

We are talking about the law of recurrence in a superior form and we will continue to define this for better comprehension.

Yes, There Is a Hell, a Devil and Karma, 1973

After the great catastrophe that is approaching, Earth will again be inhabited by select peoples.

Yes, There Is a Hell, a Devil and Karma, 1973

It is unquestionable that the glorious esoteric civilizations of ancient times will resurrect. In the first subrace of the future great root race, by the law of recurrence, there will come forth from the chaos the powerful cultures of the first Aryan subrace, but on a spiral of a superior type. In the future second subrace, there will resurrect the civilization that flourished in millenary India, before the Vedas and in ancient China. In the third subrace, there will be a new E new pyramids, a new Nile and the E civilization will resurrect; then there will reincarnate the ancient pharaohs and the thousands of souls coming from that glorious culture will return from Arnenti with the purpose of reliving the hieratic mysteries of the sun drenched country of Kern. There will also shine once more in that age the mysteries of Chaldea, Assyria, Babylon, Persia, etc., etc., but on a superior spiral within the great spiral line of life.

Yes, There Is a Hell, a Devil and Karma, 1973

In the fourth subrace of the Earth of tomorrow, there will resurrect the mysteries of Greece and of Rome with the advantage of the superior spiral of existence. In the fifth subrace there will again appear a certain dangerous mechanicity; the civilization of the English, Germans, etc., will resurrect once more, etc., with the advantages of being more spiritual, by the concrete fact of being placed on a superior spiral. In the second to the last subrace of that great root race of tomorrow, there will be seen something similar to the Latin world, but with a more elevated, more dignified, more spiritual aspect. The final subrace of that future root race, although very technological, will not have the gross materialism of this black age of Kali-Yuga. In this manner, friends, is how the law of recurrence works, moving on the spiral of existence.

Yes, There Is a Hell, a Devil and Karma, 1973

Let us think now on the law of recurrence of the worlds, on the starry spaces, on the unalterable infinite.

Yes, There Is a Hell, a Devil and Karma, 1973

Everything that happened on the old Moon, on that satellite that illuminates the face of the Earth during the night hours, is being repeated right now on our planet.

Yes, There Is a Hell, a Devil and Karma, 1973

In other words I affirm the following: all the history of the Earth and of its races, from the dawn of life, is a repetition of the history of the Selenites that once inhabited that satellite, when it was still alive and had life in abundance.

Yes, There Is a Hell, a Devil and Karma, 1973

See then ladies and gentlemen, how the law of recurrence works in all the corners of infinite space.

Yes, There Is a Hell, a Devil and Karma, 1973

Answer: Obviously, the violence of the masses in that country is the repetition of similar violences that occurred in a chaotic past; think of the civil wars that occurred in epochs prior to the violence that has occurred; the war of political parties of left and right, repeating themselves in the present as a result of the past; therein lies the law of recurrence.

Yes, There Is a Hell, a Devil and Karma, 1973 also in Anger

Answer: With great pleasure, I will answer the lady that has asked the question. I want you to know ladies and gentlemen, that the law of recurrence in its superior form corresponds to the law of Katancia, superior karma.

Yes, There Is a Hell, a Devil and Karma, 1973

The holy gods have to repeat cosmic scenes of ancient Mahanvantaras in each new great day that dawns, plus the consequences.

Yes, There Is a Hell, a Devil and Karma, 1973

Remember that the gods also make mistakes. Those sacred individuals who in the present earth period gave the abominable Kundartiguador organ to humanity, on repeating similar drams will pay their future mistakes in the future Mahanvantara.

Yes, There Is a Hell, a Devil and Karma, 1973

Disciple: Venerable Master, concerning what you say about the Law of Recurrence, I read in a newspaper editorial that in 1385, the battle of Tlatelolco –the Lord of Tlatelolco against the Lord of Azcapotzalco– took place. And the battle that happened that year is the same one that happened in 1968.

The Fifth Gospel Gnostic Psychology of False Feelings Mexico City – May 4. 1977

Master: Of course, that’s right! And everything always repeats itself in accordance with the Law of Recurrence, that is true. The Second World War was nothing but the repetition of the First, and the Third will be nothing but the repetition of the Second. Any other question?

Part Two — The return

19 passages

IWe return incessantly in order to always repeat the same dramas, the same tragedies

He teaches that the ego returns to a new body to satisfy its desires. When it returns, it repeats the same dramas, scenes and tragedies of the lives before.

The little ‘I’s’ which abide within the lunar body project themselves throughout all of the regions of the cosmic mind. Then, they return into their common body (the lunar body). Thus, the ‘I’ dressed with its lunar body returns into a new womb in order to re-dress itself with a suit of flesh, and to repeat the same tragedies and bitterness in this valley of tears. Therefore, only those who possess the Being can reincarnate. Those who do not possess the Being only return. To possess the Being is necessary in order to reincarnate. Not to possess the Being is what is necessary in order to return.

Christmas Messages, 1952–66

Lust is the origin of the sinful “I”. The ego, Satan, is subject to the Law of Eternal Return of all things. It returns to new wombs in order to satisfy desires. In each one of its lives the “I” repeats the same dramas, the same errors. The “I” complicates itself through time, each time becoming more and more perverse.

The Perfect Matrimony, 1950 (ed. 1966) also in Desire and Will, Lust

The Lunar Ego returns and in accordance with the Law of Recurrence, it repeats in each life, the same actions, the same dramas of preceding lives.

Esoteric Treatise of Hermetic Astrology, 1967

The incessant repetition of the same dramas, the same scenes, the same events in each one of the one hundred and eight lives (that the Cosmic Law always assigns to every human soul) is interesting and yet simultaneously painful.

The Solar Bodies, 1968

When a man dies, the anguishing moments of his agonizing death, his last moments and realizations, his last sensations and his last fears are all found intimately related with the enjoyments of love which originate his new birth.

The Solar Bodies, 1968

A new life starts exactly under the same conditions as that of the previous one; clearly it cannot start in any other way.

The Solar Bodies, 1968

According with the Law of Recurrence, when we are reborn again within this Valley of Tears the past is converted into the future.

The Solar Bodies, 1968

The ego continues in the seed of our descendents. We return incessantly in order to always repeat the same dramas, the same tragedies.

Tarot and Kabbalah, 1978

The EGOS return incessantly to repeat dramas, scenes and events, here and now. The past is projected towards the future through the passage of the present.

The Mystery of the Golden Blossom, 1971

Let us now study the modus operandi of this great law on the intellectual animal mistakenly called man.

Yes, There Is a Hell, a Devil and Karma, 1973

On reincorporating, on returning, on coming back, we repeat in detail all the happenings of our past, and of past existences.

Yes, There Is a Hell, a Devil and Karma, 1973

Common and everyday people understand return as being the return to a new womb. This signifies that we can reincorporate into a new human organism. It is not too much to say that, by returning, we come back to be born and to exist in the same way, and in the same manner. that we live in our present existence.

Beyond Death

Thus, the ‘I’ dressed with its Lunar Body returns into a new womb in order to re-dress itself with the suit of flesh, and to repeat the same tragedies and bitterness in this valley of tears.

Dissolving the I, 1964

Beyond death, the loose cathexis —the ego— continues enveloped in its molecular body. The human biped ends but the loose cathexis continues, the energy of the ego in its molecular body and then, later, the ego perpetuates itself in our descendants, it returns to satisfy its desires and to continue the same tragedies.

The Revolution of the Dialectic

When we return to this world, we have to create a new personality. This is formed with time and with the experiences. By returning to have a physical body, the Ego reincorporates itself again, I mean, the “I’s” take possession of the new body again, and then the same scenes are repeated, the same dramas, the same comedies, the same tragedies.

The Fifth Gospel The Reality and Fantasy of our Psychology Public Lecture – 1976

How beautiful is a child! During the early years of an infant’s life, only a small part of the soul of the innocent child exists within the organism. The “I’s” have not yet had a chance to get inside that body; they circle around the cradle, they come and go, waiting for the moment.

The Fifth Gospel The Reality and Fantasy of our Psychology Public Lecture – 1976

Later, unquestionably, the different “I’s” return to take their part on the scene of life, they enter the body, the child begins to become angry, jealous, etc. And finally, all those “I’s” who abandoned the previous body, return to express themselves as they are. The same dramas, the same scenes, the same comedies are repeated; this is the Law of Recurrence. It is necessary that you understand what this great law is: everything that happens to us in life has already happened to us in the past.

The Fifth Gospel The Reality and Fantasy of our Psychology Public Lecture – 1976

Here we are all reunited in this great cultural hall of our country, here we meet; there is no doubt that in a very remote past we had also met.

The Fifth Gospel The Reality and Fantasy of our Psychology Public Lecture – 1976

Unfortunately, we never worry about dissolving such “I’s”. We come here, into this world, many times to repeat the same things and always in a more and more decadent way. Since the dawn of life, we have not evolved; on the contrary, we are getting worse every day.

The Fifth Gospel The Reality and Fantasy of our Psychology Public Lecture – 1976

18 passages

IILife is a living movie that we carry along with us to eternity

He compares life to a film. At death we take it with us, and when we return we project it again, so there are successive existences of one and the same life.

Death is the return to the very beginning of one’s life with the possibility of repeating it once again.

Treatise of Revolutionary Psychology, 1975

Much has been stated in pseudo-esoteric and pseudo-occultist literature about the subject of successive lives. Yet, it is better to be concerned about successive existences. The life of each one of us with all its seasons is always the same. Life repeats itself from existence to existence throughout innumerable centuries.

Treatise of Revolutionary Psychology, 1975

The life of each one of us is individual. Life is a living movie that we carry along with us to eternity when we die.

Treatise of Revolutionary Psychology, 1975

Each one of us takes his movie with him and brings it back to project it once again on the screen of a new existence.

Treatise of Revolutionary Psychology, 1975

The ‘I’, the Ego, is constituted by thousands of little ‘I’ which continue after death and return to this valley of tears in order to satisfy its desires and to pay karma. As a movie of successive events, the ‘I’s’ pass in a successive order on the screen of life, in order to represent their own role within the painful drama of life.

Dissolving the I, 1964 also in Desire and Will

Friends, life itself is truly like a movie, and if we do not work on our own life, believe me, we are wasting our time miserably. When life ends, when it comes to an end, we have simply returned to the original starting point. So, we wind up our film and go with it to eternity, to the unknown dimension, for I already told you that the Ego continues in the psychological space.

The Fifth Gospel Analysis of the Human Psyche Public Lecture – 1977

When we return, when we come back, another law called “Recurrence” comes into action, that is, we repeat our own life as it happened with the old personality. We bring back the same film from our past existence and project it again on the screen of this world. The same recurrence makes us repeat the same comedies, the same dramas, the same tragedies of the past.

The Fifth Gospel Analysis of the Human Psyche Public Lecture – 1977

Think, my dear friends, of your current life: remember when you were born, and the life of childhood, the life of youth, the life of adolescence, of old age, etc. Do you think it is very nice to repeat it exactly, in the same way? I think not, it is not pleasant, and nevertheless we have to keep repeating it according to the Law of Recurrence.

The Fifth Gospel Analysis of the Human Psyche Public Lecture – 1977

Everything we are doing now, we did in our past existence, and everything that we did in the past existence, we did also in the one before that. Each one of us is assigned one hundred and eight existences; obviously, in each one of them we keep repeating the same mistakes of the past, the same dramas, the same comedies, the same tragedies.

The Fifth Gospel Analysis of the Human Psyche Public Lecture – 1977

There is another law called the Law of Recurrence: everything repeats itself the way it happened plus its consequences. The Ego returns once again to project its own life on the tapestry of life. The Ego repeats all the incidents of its past existence. In other words, at the moment of death, we take our life with us just like one who takes a movie; life is a movie. And we bring our life back to this physical world and project it onto the screen of existence. So, if we do not modify our own life, we will keep repeating it incessantly, and this is lamentable.

The Fifth Gospel The Organization of our Inner World Public Lecture – 1975

In our last talk, we spoke a lot about the importance that life has in itself. We also said that a man is what his life is, and that this is like a film which, upon disincarnating, we take with us to retrospectively relive it in the Astral world; and upon returning, we bring it with us to project it again on the tapestry of the physical world.

The Fifth Gospel Intelligent Assimilation of Impressions

Life is like a movie that apparently ends with death. Death is the return to the original starting point, with the possibility to project the same life again, on the screen of the world. In Buddhism we are told about successive lives, but I truly say that there are no successive lives. What there is, what really exist are successive existences, because life is the same. When the time of death comes, the film ends, we roll it up and take it with us into eternity. There we relive it in a retrospective way.

The Fifth Gospel The Verticality of Existence First Gnostic Youth Encounter – Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico – July 10. 1975

In the psychological space, our own life continues; there we relive it, I say, in a retrospective way. Later, we return, we get back in time, we reincorporate into a new organism –that is the Law of the Eternal Return of all things– and we return to project our own life again, to project it again upon the screen of this world.

The Fifth Gospel The Verticality of Existence First Gnostic Youth Encounter – Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico – July 10. 1975

So, it is not successive lives that exist. In reality, what exists are successive existences. Distinguish between successive lives and successive existences. There is but one life: the one that we take with us, the one we bring, the one we take back and the one we bring back. Always the same! Existences, yes: each soul is assigned one hundred and eight existences.

The Fifth Gospel The Verticality of Existence First Gnostic Youth Encounter – Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico – July 10. 1975

The time has come for us to reflect on what our own life is. If we do not change that film of life –that which we take with us, that which we bring back-, if we do not change it, it will always keep repeating itself, and it will repeat itself through one hundred and eight existences. And if, despite everything, we do not change it, we will have to take our business elsewhere, as the saying goes, we will have to take our life to the submerged mineral kingdom.

The Fifth Gospel The Verticality of Existence First Gnostic Youth Encounter – Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico – July 10. 1975

I had to start with pure physical phenomena so that, at last, you would resolve to listen to the doctrine. You came because of simple curiosity, then you liked it. You have changed bodies and you are here, but some remember and some do not remember. Those who remember are also here, those who don’t remember are also here, but the same ones are here. You will tell me why we have met again. Very easy, I tell you it is very easy: because a man is what his life is. When a man dies, he takes his life, relives it in the astral world, and when he returns, he brings his life to relive it again in the physical world.

The Fifth Gospel The Binary Serpentine Power

Now, within a man’s life, there are many lives. When a man comes to relive his life, he also comes with those other lives that have accompanied him, with all those friends, enemies, relatives, parents, friends, etc. So, we are all inside everyone, and if a man is what his life is, it happens that, within the life of one, there are many other persons.

The Fifth Gospel The Binary Serpentine Power

Thus, we are within the lives of other persons, and other persons are within our life. Man, by living like each one lives his life, well, by natural law, all others who are part of his life also begin to live it; it is like a big machine that is set in motion, and everyone finds each other again to continue where they were going. That is the Law of Recurrence: everything happens again just as it happened.

IIIWe, all the actors of that past event, have reencountered ourselves again

He tells episodes from his own past existences. He met the same people again, repeated the same journeys, and says what changed when he dissolved the ego.

Many centuries have passed since that epoch. All of the personages from that drama became old and they died.

Runic Magic, 1969

In the twentieth century, we, all the actors of that past event, have reencountered ourselves again. Everything has been repeated in a certain way, but it is clear that it has been with consequences. This time I was the one who was repudiated by the family. Such is the Law. My sister reencountered her husband anew. I do not reject the fact that I am united again with my ancient priestess spouse, known with the name of Litelantes. The so adored and fought over nephew became reborn again, this time with a feminine body. She, by the way, is a very beautiful girl. Her face seems to be a very delightful night and the stars shine in her eyes.

Runic Magic, 1969

New with a sequence of unusual accounts I wish to explain about the Law of Recurrence. The aforementioned law was certainly never something strange or outlandish for me, in the name of THAT which is Divine I must specially affirm that I only know of this pragmatic rule through my unwonted lives.

The Mystery of the Golden Blossom, 1971

To testify to all that we have really directly experienced, is a duty for our fellow men. I have never wanted to slip away, to escape intellectually from the multiple variety of memories relating to my three previous existences and which correspond with my present day life.

It is curious that those noble aborigines who had buried so rich a fortune long before, are again reimbodied forming a Santam Sanctorum Sanctuarium group. The Law of Recurrence works in this way.

The Mystery of the Golden Blossom, 1971

Repeating the steps of the insolent Marquis Juan Conrado in my subsequent existence I reincarnated in Mexico; I was baptized with the name Daniel Coronado, born in the North, in the area round Hermosillo, all places known to me in other times as the Marquis. IThe Personality is born in its own time and dies in its own time

He teaches that the personality is born with its time and dies with it. The personality does not return. What returns are the "I"s.

The personality is time. The personality lives in its own time and does not reincarnate. After death the personality also goes to the grave. For the personality there are no tomorrows. The personality lives in the cemetery wanders about the cemetery or goes down into its grave. It is neither the astral body nor the etheric double. It is not the Soul. It is time. It is energetic and it disintegrates very slowly. The personality can never reincarnate. It does not ever reincarnate. There are no tomorrows for the human personality.

The Perfect Matrimony, 1950 (ed. 1966)

This question of the personality, child of its time, that dies in its time merits our attention. In reality it is completely clear that if the per sonality were to reincarnate, time would also reincarnate, and this is absurd because time is a closed curve. A Roman man who rein carnated in these modern times of the twentieth century with the personality of the time of the Caesars, would in fact be intolerable; we would have to treat him as a delinquent because his customs would in no way correspond to those we have today. THE RETURNS OF THE EGO The symbol of Jesus expelling the merchants of the Temple with whip in hand is concerned with a tremendous reality of death and horror. We have already said that the “I” is pluralised. The “I”, the ego, is a legion of devils. Many readers will not like this statement, but it is the truth and this we must say, even though we may not like to. During the work with the demon, during the work of the dissolu tion of the ego, parts of the “I”, subhuman entities, entities that pos sess part of our consciousness and our life, are eliminated, cast out of our internal Temple. Sometimes these entities reincarnate in animal bodies. Many times it will have happened that while in zoos we have met forms discarded from ourselves, living in animal bodies. There are people so animalistic that if everything animal was re moved from them, nothing would remain. This class of people are lost cases. The Law of Recurrence has ended for these people. The Law of Reincarnation has ended for them. This type of person can reincarnate into animal bodies, or enter definitively into the abyss. There they disintegrate slowly.

The Perfect Matrimony, 1950 (ed. 1966)

The personality is not re-incarnated. The personality is a child of its time and dies in its time.

The Book of the Dead, 1965 also in The Words He Uses

Those who affirm that the Personality reincarnates are unfortunately lying, because the Personality is a child of its own time. The Personality is born in its own time and dies in its own time. There is no tomorrow for the Personality of the dead.

The Solar Bodies, 1968

The personality does not return, is a daughter of its time, has a beginning and an end. The only thing that continues with certainty is an assortment of devils.

The Three Mountains, 1972

The personality develops and unfolds on the Horizontal Line of Life. The personality is born and dies with its linear time; it is mortal. A “tomorrow” does not exist for the personality of the dead person. The personality is not the Being.

Treatise of Revolutionary Psychology, 1975

The Personality is a daughter of its time, thus, it dies in its time.

Dissolving the I, 1964

The personality should not be confused with the ‘I’. Really, the personality is formed during the seven years of infancy and the ‘I’ is the error which is perpetuated from century to century fortifying itself more and more each time with the mechanics of recurrence.

The Revolution of the Dialectic

IIThe actors of all these scenes are the "I"s which we carry within

He teaches that the actors of the repeating scenes are the "I"s from former existences. Each has its own commitments, and the personality is a machine that serves them.

The repetition of dramas, comedies and tragedies is a fundamental axiom of the Law of Recurrence.

Treatise of Revolutionary Psychology, 1975

If two persons had a fight over real estate at the age of forty years in the past existence, they will find each other telepathically at the same age in order to repeat the same thing. Thus, inside each one of us live many people full of commitments. This is irrefutable. A thief carries within a “den” of thieves each with different criminal commitments. A murderer carries within himself a “club” of murderers, and the lustful one carries a “whore house” in his psyche.

Treatise of Revolutionary Psychology, 1975

Death is a substraction of fractions and, once the mathematical operation is finished, only the values continue (that is, the good and bad "I"s, useful and useless ones, positive and negative). In the astral light, values repel one another in accordance with the laws of universal magnetization.

The Great Rebellion, 1975

We are mathematical points in space, which serve as vehicles for specific sums of values. These values which serve as the basis for the Law of Recurrence, always exist within the human personality of each one of us.

The Great Rebellion, 1975

Since many "I"s from former lifes exist within each of us, we can emphatically state that each of them is a different person.

The Great Rebellion, 1975

Really, these are the mechanics of the Law of Recurrence; this is the tragedy of life. The diverse characters meet again across thousands of years to re-enact the same dramas, comedies and tragedies.

The Great Rebellion, 1975

Human personality is nothing else than a machine in the service of those "I"s with so many commitments.

The Great Rebellion, 1975 also in The Mechanical Man

What is the worst about this question, is that all these commitments of the people whom we carry within, are fulfilled without our understanding previously having any information.

The Great Rebellion, 1975

In this sense, our human personality resembles a cart pulled by multiple horses. There are lifes of most exact repetition, recurrent existences which are never modified. In no way could the comedies, dramas and tragedies of life be repeated on the screen of existence, if the actors did not exist.

The Great Rebellion, 1975

The actors of all these scenes are the "I"s which we carry within and which come from former existences.

The Great Rebellion, 1975

Life is an incessant repetition of occurrences, of events: the destiny of human beings is precisely due to the “I’s”. Let us suppose that in the past existence, at the age of 30, we had a love affair. The “I” of this adventure, due to the fact of having participated in it, unquestionably, will continue to exist after death.

The Fifth Gospel The Reality and Fantasy of our Psychology Public Lecture – 1976

In reality and in truth, brothers, each one of the psychic aggregates that emerges in us has certain commitments. We could say without any exaggeration that the thief, for example, carries inside himself a cave of thieves, each one of them with different commitments, in different days, times and places; that the unredeemed fornicator carries inside himself, to top it all off, a house of prostitution; that the murderer, obviously, carries in his psyche a club of assassins. Of course, each one of these, deep down, has his commitments; the merchant inside himself carries a market place, and so on and so forth.

The Fifth Gospel Didactics for Buddhist Annihilation Conference at the end of the Missionary Course – Guadalajara, Jalisco. Mexico – From June 15 to August 30. 1976

If we say that the “I” is a book of many volumes, we are assuring a great reality. If we state that the Ego comes from many yesterdays, it is true. So, the Ego is time, the “I’s” personify time; they are our own defects, our own mistakes contained in the clock of time; they are the dust of the centuries at the very bottom of our psyche.

IIIThe repetition of our previous acts constitutes the mechanics of our own destiny

He describes how the law works. An "I" waits for the age at which its old deed took place, finds its partner telepathically and repeats the scene, and this repetition is our destiny.

By reflecting seriously through inner self-observation on this subject matter, we discover the secret springs of the Law of Recurrence or repetition of scenes in each return. If in the past existence at the age of twenty-five years of age a man had a love affair, it is indubitable that in his new existence, the “I” of such a commitment will seek the lady of his dreams at the age of twenty-five again.

Treatise of Revolutionary Psychology, 1975

If the lady in question was only fifteen years old then, in her new existence, the “I” of that affair will seek her beloved one at the exact age again.

Treatise of Revolutionary Psychology, 1975

It is easy to comprehend that the two “I’s,” both his and hers, seek each other telepathically and meet once again in order to repeat the same love affair of their former existence.

Treatise of Revolutionary Psychology, 1975

The "I" which at the age of twenty-five fought another man in the pub or in the bar, will wait in the new existence until the new age of twenty-five to seek his opponent and repeat the tragedy. The "I"s of both fellows seek one another by means of telepathic waves and then rendezvous again with each other to mechanically repeat the same.

The Great Rebellion, 1975 also in The Mechanical Man

Only after the personality has been formed, the psychic aggregates begin to move slowly into the creature’s organism. And those psychic aggregates that were the cause of so many fights, acts of lust, jealousy, hatred, etc., in previous lives, keep waiting for the instant, the suitable age, the moment to take action.

The Fifth Gospel Analysis of the Human Psyche Public Lecture – 1977

So, each one is born with a destiny, and this destiny is formed by the Law of Recurrence. To say that the Law of Recurrence is based, precisely, on the Law of Return, is a fact. We all return to repeat our previous acts, destiny is the repetition of our previous acts. The repetition of our previous acts constitutes the mechanics of our own destiny.

The Fifth Gospel Analysis of the Human Psyche Public Lecture – 1977

Disciple: Venerable Master, do certain characteristic “I's” manifest at each age or stage of the individual?

The Fifth Gospel Gnostic Psychology of False Feelings Mexico City – May 4. 1977

Master: Certainly yes, in accordance with the Law of Recurrence. Because if in the past existence, at the age of thirty years old we had a fight in a bar, the “I” of that conflict remains in the depths of ourselves, waiting for the instant of thirty years old to come out again. Reaching that age, it will then come out, it will look for a bar with the purpose of meeting that individual whom it fought. The other one will do the same and finally, both will meet in a bar and they will fight again. This is the Law of Recurrence.

The Fifth Gospel Gnostic Psychology of False Feelings Mexico City – May 4. 1977

And if at the age of twenty-five we had a love affair, at that same age as well the “I” that was there, waiting deep down, will come up to the surface, will control the intellect, will control the heart and will go looking for the beloved one of his dreams. She will do the same and both will meet again to repeat the affair. So, the human robot is programmed by the Law of Recurrence.

The Fifth Gospel Gnostic Psychology of False Feelings Mexico City – May 4. 1977 also in The Mechanical Man

In any case the Being, the true Being, does not express himself in the intellectual animal; he normally lives in the Milky Way, he moves in the Milky Way. What acts in this world, is the robot programmed by the Law of Recurrence.

The Fifth Gospel Gnostic Psychology of False Feelings Mexico City – May 4. 1977 also in The Mechanical Man

But how is our own destiny weaved and un-weaved? Gurdjieff talked a lot about the Law of Recurrence. Ouspensky, Collins, Nicoll, etc., commented on those statements, but we, in the terrain of research, have gone further. We know in depth the living mechanics of the Law of Recurrence, and this is very important.

The Fifth Gospel Didactics for Buddhist Annihilation Conference at the end of the Missionary Course – Guadalajara, Jalisco. Mexico – From June 15 to August 30. 1976

Some person X, for example, who in a past existence was an adulterer, who left his wife for another lady, it is clear that, upon being reborn, he brings in his psyche the “I” of adultery, the same one that committed the crime. This “I” will not be able to express itself in the first years of childhood. Impossible!

The Fifth Gospel Didactics for Buddhist Annihilation Conference at the end of the Missionary Course – Guadalajara, Jalisco. Mexico – From June 15 to August 30. 1976 also in Lust

If the event took place at the age of thirty, for example, undoubtedly the “I” of that adultery will wait in the depths of the psyche, within the terrain of what is infra-human, in the subjective spheres, for the same age to arrive, the famous thirty years. When that age will come, that “I” will emerge from the bottom with great force: it will take hold of the intellect and of the emotional center and of the motor-instinctive-sexual center of the machine to go look for the lady of its dreams.

The Fifth Gospel Didactics for Buddhist Annihilation Conference at the end of the Missionary Course – Guadalajara, Jalisco. Mexico – From June 15 to August 30. 1976 also in Lust

Beforehand, it will have made telepathic contact with that lady’s Ego; possibly, they will even have set up a meeting in any place –perhaps in a city park or at a party–. And it is obvious that afterward comes the reunion. But what is interesting is to see how this submerged Ego can pull the intellect, move the emotional and motor centers of the machine and take the machine, precisely, to the place where it has to meet the lady of its dreams. Undoubtedly, the same process will materialize in her and the scene will repeat again just as it happened.

The Fifth Gospel Didactics for Buddhist Annihilation Conference at the end of the Missionary Course – Guadalajara, Jalisco. Mexico – From June 15 to August 30. 1976 also in The Mechanical Man

But upon the rebirth of the Ego, upon returning, upon taking again a new body, the moment will come when it will be able to enter into activity; it will wait for the age at which the event occurred in the past existence. If it was at twenty-five years old, it will wait for the same twenty-five years to arrive; it will remain at the bottom of the psyche in the meantime and when the time comes, obviously, it will take hold of the centers of the machine to repeat the deed.

The Fifth Gospel Didactics for Buddhist Annihilation Conference at the end of the Missionary Course – Guadalajara, Jalisco. Mexico – From June 15 to August 30. 1976

Beforehand, it will have made telepathic contact with the other person X and they will have set a meeting, possibly, in another bar. There, upon looking at each other, they will recognize each other, they will hurt each other with the word and the fact will repeat.

The Fifth Gospel Didactics for Buddhist Annihilation Conference at the end of the Missionary Course – Guadalajara, Jalisco. Mexico – From June 15 to August 30. 1976

See, then, how below our conscientious zone and our reasoning capacity, different commitments are fulfilled. This is how the Law of Recurrence works; that is the mechanics of such law.

It is clear that, looking at things in this way and in this manner, we do not have in truth what we could call total freedom, free will; the margin of free will that we have is very slim. Imagine a violin in its case. The small margin that can exist between the violin and the case, almost minimal, will give us an idea of the small margin of freedom that we possess.

IVNormal, every day persons, always repeat their same dramas

He shows how each kind of person repeats a role. The clown repeats his tomfoolery, the perverse their tragedies, the thief and the murderer meet their old scene with its consequences.

Triumphant types of people know exactly what they have to do each time they return to this worldly scenario. Thus, this is how they repeat their same adventures.

The Solar Bodies, 1968

There exist in the world people of precise, automatic repetition, people who are always reborn in the same town and within the same family.

The Mystery of the Golden Blossom, 1971

Clearly, such EGOS already know their role by heart and even enjoy the luxury of making prophecies about themselves. It is plain that constant repetition does not allow them to forget events, that's why they seem to be prophets.

The Mystery of the Golden Blossom, 1971

They are persons who know their role because of repeating it so many times, they do not ignore it and that is all.

Yes, There Is a Hell, a Devil and Karma, 1973

There also enters into this matter the child prodigies that so astonish people of this era; usually, they are egos that already know their trade by memory and upon returning do it marvelously from the first years of their infancy.

Yes, There Is a Hell, a Devil and Karma, 1973

The law of recurrence is surprising. Normal, every day persons, always repeat their same dramas; the clowns over and over again, in each of their successive lives, repeat their same tomfoolery; the perverse continuously reincorporate to incessantly repeat the same tragedies.

Yes, There Is a Hell, a Devil and Karma, 1973

The murderer will return to see himself in the horrifying occasion of murdering, but he will be murdered; the thief will once again see himself with the same opportunity of stealing, but will be thrown in jail; the bandit will feel the same desire of running, of using his legs for crimes, but he will not have legs, he will be born invalid or will lose them in some tragedy. The blind person will want from birth to see the things of life, those that possibly led him to cruelty, etc., but he will not be able to see; the woman will love the same husband of her previous life, he whom she possibly abandoned on the sick bed to go off with any other person, but now the drama will be repeated inversely and the object of her love will leave with another woman, abandoning her; the highway robber will feel the desire to run, to flee, will possibly plead in his state of mental delirium, dressed with a new body of nature, possibly feminine, he will have strange deliriums, he will not be able to flee from himself, he will go crazy, he will be a mentally sick person, etc., etc. In this manner, friends, in this manner, the law of recurrence works incessantly. Question: Master, is it due to the law of recurrence that a country is affected by violence for so long?

Yes, There Is a Hell, a Devil and Karma, 1973

Question: Master, if a person has been upright, has behaved as a citizen in the fulfillment of his duties, how would the law of recurrence operate in his next return? Answer: Friends, friends, do not tell me that so and so has been a paragon of virtues, a pool of sanctity. As magnificent a citizen as he might have been, he had his very human errors, his scenes, his dramas, etc., and it is clear that in all of this there is repetition of his new existence, plus the consequences; in this manner operates the law of recurrence. Question: Venerable Master, there is certain confusion in relation to the law of karma and the law of recurrence, because I have the concept that with the termination of karma the law of recurrence also ends. Can you clarify this point?

Yes, There Is a Hell, a Devil and Karma, 1973

Question: Master, persons who apparently have not done evil to anyone suffer due to financial hardships. Is this related to the law of recurrence?

Yes, There Is a Hell, a Devil and Karma, 1973

In the concrete case in this question, the victim of sufferings will repeat scenes from the past, plus the consequences; poverty, pain, etc., etc.

Yes, There Is a Hell, a Devil and Karma, 1973

In previous lives we have had many friends and enemies; when returning or coming back to this world, we once again reencounter these friends and adversaries and therefore, everything is repeated just as it happened. Plus, there are also difficult people who do not like to have friends, misanthropes, we could say, people who hide themselves, who remove themselves, who separate themselves from society, recluses by nature and by instinct. When such people return to this world they often find themselves alone, no one gets along well with them. On the other hand, there are other people who in past lives knew how to fulfill their duties towards society, towards the world, and even worked in favor of their fellowman; it is logical that upon returning to this world they find themselves surrounded by those souls who in the past or in past lives made up their circle and, therefore, as is natural, they enjoy much affection.

Beyond Death

6. Could you tell me why I have always failed in love, when I was just about to reach happiness, it slipped from my hand; even in spite of them always telling me that they love me, they leave me to marry another?

Beyond Death

With the greatest pleasure I will answer your question, distinguished lady. It is clear that your problem could not be properly comprehended if we are ignorant of the Law of the Eternal Return. All events are an incessant repetition of various past lives. All human beings in the past have had different marriages, have established sexual relations with other people, etc. The result of those conjugal associations can be good, bad or indifferent. If we have behaved badly with a specific spouse, in a new life a reencounter is established along with the consequences—matrimonial failures, thwarted marriages, the rupture of loving relations, etc. The gravest thing of all this is the legal separation obliged for this or that reason, and above all when there is love.

Beyond Death

Now, what I find very hard in the Law of Recurrence is having to repeat the same thing in each life. Therefore, if a woman left her husband in the past existence and went with another man, then in the new existence, the same thing repeats and she returns and leaves him and goes with the other. This is very serious.

VThe Law of Recurrence processes itself in every moment of our life

He teaches that recurrence also works inside one life, from day to day. The same errors, words and problems come back, and he asks us to observe this daily repetition.

A practice

If a man starts taking into account more consciously, the small cycle of recurring events of his personal life, he will be able to verify directly, throughout mystical experience, that, in daily sleep, the same mathematical operation of death is always repeated.

The Secret Doctrine of Anahuac, 1974

What happened to them yesterday happens to them today, and will happen to them again tomorrow; they always repeat the same errors and not even cannon shots will make them learn the lessons of life.

Treatise of Revolutionary Psychology, 1975

All things repeat themselves in their life; they say the same things, do the same things and complain about the same things.

Treatise of Revolutionary Psychology, 1975

A practice

It is impossible to eliminate what we do not know. Therefore, we must first observe our own errors.

Treatise of Revolutionary Psychology, 1975

A practice

We need not only to observe our day, but also our relationship to it. A certain ordinary day that each person experiences directly exists, with the exception of unusual and uncommon incidents.

Treatise of Revolutionary Psychology, 1975

A practice

So, it is interesting to observe daily recurrence, the repetition of words and events towards each person, etc.

Treatise of Revolutionary Psychology, 1975

A practice

That repetition or recurrence of events and words deserves to be studied; it leads us to self knowledge.

Treatise of Revolutionary Psychology, 1975

By no means can we deny that the Law of Recurrence processes itself in every moment of our life.

Indeed, repetition of events, states of consciousness, words, desires, thoughts, volitions, etc., exist in each day of our existence.

Treatise of Revolutionary Psychology, 1975

A practice

It is obvious that when one does not observe oneself, one cannot observe this incessant daily repetition.

Treatise of Revolutionary Psychology, 1975 also in Identification

Problems are of life, and if there were a final solution, life would not be life but death. So, there can be a modification of circumstances and problems, but they will never stop to be repeated and they will never have a final solution.

The Great Rebellion, 1975

Life is a wheel that turns mechanically with all the pleasant and unpleasant circumstances; it is always recurrent.

The Great Rebellion, 1975 also in The Mechanical Man

A practice

We cannot halt the wheel, good and bad circumstances are always processed mechanically; we can only change our attitude to life's events.

The Great Rebellion, 1975 also in The Mechanical Man

Obviously, as long as we are in the level of the Being in which we are, all the adverse circumstances that we already know and all the bitterness in which we, are will have to be repeated again. Over and over again, identical difficulties will surge.

The Revolution of the Dialectic

We live within a rather complicated mechanism. Life has become profoundly mechanistic, one hundred percent. The Law of Recurrence is terrible, everything repeats. We could compare life to a wheel that is turning incessantly on itself. Events happen time and again, always repeating themselves. In reality and in truth, there is never a final solution to problems. Everyone is burdened with problems, but the final solution, in reality and in truth, does not exist. Because if there was a final solution to the problems that one has in life, this would mean that life would not be life, but death. Thus, the final solution is not known.

IWho are those who are free of the law of recurrence

He says who is free of the law. Those who crystallise the three primary forces, who become holy, and whose will is freed by the death of the ego can do new acts.

A practice

In fact, the object of the automatic repetition of events is to make us aware of our own errors; that is the law. Unfortunately we can do nothing. Everything is repeated at the correct time, just as the hands of the clock go round. To change external circumstances we have to change internally by forming Soul and Spirit, that is to say processing BEING. Only the BEING can create. Only the BEING can change all things. Whoever wants to possess BEING has to transmute his sexual, emotional, mental, passionate, motor, sentimental, etc. energies. We have to transmute the Base Metals, that is to say, our defects, into the purest Gold of the Spirit. Only in this way will we possess Soul and Spirit. The PLURALIZED EGO has to die. It is urgent that the BEING be born within us. Life in the cellular world is a tremendous repetition of events and we can only liberate ourselves from this tragic wheel of fate by dissolving the EGO on the basis of supreme Understanding and SANCTITY and by forming SOUL and SPIRIT. It is a horrible vicious circle; the Wheel of SAMSARA.

The Book of the Dead, 1965

He who receives the Crown of Life is freed from the Wheel of returns, recurrence and karma.

Tarot and Kabbalah, 1978

The Solar forces depart from the Law of Return, from the Law of Recur rence. All of this forms part of Arcanum number 10; whilst we do not dis solve the ego, we must continue Returning.

It is unquestionable that the Homunculi mistakenly called human being is submitted to the law of Reoccurrence. He is not capable of originating anything new, he is a victim of circumstances.

My Return to Tibet, 1969

In this day and age, within the cheap Pseudo-Occultism, much is spoken about the law of Epigenesis, the capacity for originating new circumstances. It is obvious that only the authentic human beings with conscious-will can modify their destiny and originate a new order of things.

My Return to Tibet, 1969

The Intellectual Animal has not built the body of the Conscious Will, the Causal Vehicle. The wretched, rational Homunculi is always a victim of the eternal laws of Return and Reoccurrence.

Yes, There Is a Hell, a Devil and Karma, 1973

Question: Master, who are those who are free of the law of recurrence?

Yes, There Is a Hell, a Devil and Karma, 1973

Answer: Look at the law of recurrence in its superior and inferior aspects of the great life. We can solemnly affirm that those who remain free of the law of recurrence, are only those who are able to crystallize in their intimate nature the three primary forces of the universe.

IIThere cannot be any scenes without actors

He teaches that no scene can happen without its actors. If we disintegrate the "I" that acts a scene, that scene is not repeated. He gives self-observation, comprehension and prayer to the Divine Mother as the means.

It is obvious that the EGO is subject to the Law of Recurrence. When the Myself is dissolved we acquire Liberty, we become emancipated from the afore mentioned Law. Practice has taught me that the different scenes of diverse existences happen come from within the cosmic spiral, always repeated, in due course, in higher or lower spirals. All the Marquis' deeds, including his innumerable journeys, were continually repeated, each time in lower spirals, during the three subsequent reincarnations.

It is urgent, my dear friends, to put an end to the actors of such comedies, dramas and tragedies. What are they called? These actors are jealousy, anger, greed, lust, envy, pride, laziness, gluttony, etc. Those “I's”, who personify our mistakes, are the actors of those dramas, comedies and tragedies. We need to disintegrate them; we need to turn them into cosmic dust. If we succeed, if we break all these psychic aggregates, the Consciousness will remain awakened, individualized. Then, we will have made our life a masterpiece.

The Fifth Gospel Analysis of the Human Psyche Public Lecture – 1977

The young man asks me how to change this. Well, it is not pleasant to always repeat the same thing. And I tell you the following: in a scenario of jealousy, for example, there is always a triangle involved: the jealous one, the person who is the object of the jealousy and a competitor, right?

The Fifth Gospel Analysis of the Human Psyche Public Lecture – 1977 also in Jealousy

We see in this case: the woman who went with another and left the poor man in a bad way; an act of adultery, of course, we can give it that title and really that is what it is. In the new existence, she returns and meets her man, and surely the same drama will be repeated; soon the third will appear in the discord. What to do so that it does not repeat itself? Well, we would have to put an end to the “I” of adultery, disintegrate it, turn it into dust; we would have to meditate on it, to concentrate on our own Cosmic Mother, to beg her to reduce it to ashes. By doing that, there is no more adultery. What if so-and-so appears? There is no problem because she does not want to adulterate anymore; and that is as far as the repetition went.

The Fifth Gospel Gnostic Psychology of False Feelings Mexico City – May 4. 1977 also in Awakening, The Mechanical Man

In reality and in truth, we are inside the mechanics of the Law of Recurrence, and this is lamentable, by the way. A man is what his life is. If a man does not work on his own life, that man is wasting his time miserably. In what way could we free ourselves from the Law of Recurrence? Well, working on our own life. Unquestionably, our own life is made up of comedies, dramas and tragedies. Comedy is for comics; dramas, for normal, ordinary people; and tragedies, for perverse ones. In the Mysteries of olden days, no tragedian was accepted. It was known that he was punished by the Gods and, obviously, the Guardian rejected him with the tip of the sword.

So, if we want to change our own life, what should we do? We have no other alternative than to dissolve the actors of the comedies, dramas and tragedies. IIIPure repetition of old impressions

He teaches that old impressions left undigested in past existences repeat mechanically in us. He shows how to digest one by reflection and then ask the Divine Mother to disintegrate the "I" it formed.

He has discovered the “I” of jealousy, it is obvious. The Law of Recurrence says that in a past existence, the same triangle existed and that in the one before that, the same triangle existed. So, this jealousy that is felt is due to an undigested, untransformed impression.

The Fifth Gospel Intelligent Assimilation of Impressions also in Jealousy, The Transformation of Impressions

A practice

If one then tries to digest that impression of jealousy into something different, if one, by means of reflection, reaches the conclusion that jealousy is absurd, that it has no real meaning, then that bad impression that comes from ancient times is digested. And upon doing that digestion, one is in the best position to disintegrate the Ego. The only thing missing is the prayer, the prayer to Devi Kundalini-Shakti so that she is the one who disintegrates that Ego, that is the result of an ancient undigested impression, and finally that Ego of jealousy turns to dust.

The Fifth Gospel Intelligent Assimilation of Impressions also in Jealousy, The Science of Meditation, The Transformation of Impressions

A practice

Let us suppose that we fight with another person because he does not want to return us a sum of money that we lent to him. Unquestionably, it is an undigested impression. If, at the time that we went to collect the money, that person did not want to pay us and we felt a great set-back and the desire to fight against that gentleman, we must be understanding enough to meditate once we get back home, and try by introspective means to digest that dreadful impression.

The Fifth Gospel Intelligent Assimilation of Impressions also in The Science of Meditation, The Transformation of Impressions

There is no doubt that the Law of Recurrence has worked there too, there is no doubt that in a past existence, by Law of Recurrence, the same case occurred: we lent to that same man a certain amount of money and he did not repay it. And in the one before, the same case occurred, and in the one before that, the same, and the same thing has always happened; because of that we have fabricated an “I” of hatred against that gentleman.

The Fifth Gospel Intelligent Assimilation of Impressions also in Hatred

A practice

Well now it will be necessary to completely digest that bad impression that comes from a remote past and that has now become an “I”; to digest it through reflection, to comprehend that money is vain, illusory, that at the time of death we do not take a single penny to eternity.

The Fifth Gospel Intelligent Assimilation of Impressions also in The Science of Meditation, The Transformation of Impressions

A practice

When we have become conscious of that, then we will beg Devi Kundalini-Shakti to disintegrate that Ego which is nothing more than the result of a series of undigested impressions; it is clear that the Divine Mother will turn it to dust and we will be free of that bad impression.

The Fifth Gospel Intelligent Assimilation of Impressions also in The Science of Meditation, The Transformation of Impressions

As we are, we are nothing but programmed robots. Those undigested impressions were deposited in our three brains and those impressions are repeated from instant to instant, from moment to moment, throughout the entire life. That is the mechanics of the Law of Recurrence: pure repetition of old impressions.

The Fifth Gospel Intelligent Assimilation of Impressions also in The Mechanical Man, The Transformation of Impressions

Do you think that this is pleasant, to be machines, to play the role of robots, not to have incarnated the Being, to live like this, like shadows in this valley of tears? Do you think that it is worth having such an existence? And what are we? Miserable shadows, programmed robots, programmed by the old impressions of the past. All the impressions of our past existences that remained undigested have been deposited in our three brains and now they repeat mechanically.

IVThe only thing we can do is to change our attitude toward life’s events

He teaches that events will repeat whether we like it or not. What we can change is how we react to them, and that change needs the elimination of what we carry inside.

A practice

A person is what his life is. Therefore, if he does not modify anything within himself, if he does not radically transform his life, if he does not work on himself, he is miserably wasting his time.

Treatise of Revolutionary Psychology, 1975

A practice

Only by eliminating the undesirable elements which we carry in our interior, can we make a masterpiece of our life.

The Great Rebellion, 1975

The wheel of life turns, the same old events always happen, repeating themselves in a more or less modified form, more or less a higher or lower level, but repeating themselves. Getting to the final solution, preventing the repetition of events or circumstances from continuing, is something more than impossible. So, all we have to do is to learn in order to know how we will react before the different circumstances of life.

The Fifth Gospel The Exercise of SELF-KNOWLEDGE

If we always react the same way, if we always react with violence, if we always react with lust, if we always react with greed to the diverse events that repeat time and again in each human existence, well, we would never change, because the events that you are currently living, you have already lived them in the past existence. This means that, for example, if you are now sitting down listening to me, in a past existence you were also sitting down listening to me; it may not be right here in this house, but yes, anywhere in the city. Similarly, in the previous past existence, you were sitting down listening to me; and in the one before the previous past existence, you were also sitting down listening to me and I was speaking to you; that is to say, this wheel of life is always turning and the events are happening, they are always the same.

The Fifth Gospel The Exercise of SELF-KNOWLEDGE

A practice

Therefore, it is impossible to prevent events from repeating. The only thing we can do is to change our attitude toward life’s events. If we learn to not react to any impact coming from the outside world, if we learn to be calm, impassive, then what will happen is that we will be able to evade or to prevent events from producing the same results in us.

The Fifth Gospel The Exercise of SELF-KNOWLEDGE

A practice

The harsh reality is that events may be repeating, but what we have to do is to modify our attitude toward the events. If our attitude is negative, we will create very serious problems to ourselves, this is obvious. We need to change our attitude toward our existence. Though one cannot change one’s attitude toward life, if he does not eliminate those harmful elements that he carries in his psyche.

The Fifth Gospel The Exercise of SELF-KNOWLEDGE

A practice

One has to change his attitude in front of the different circumstances of life. They repeat themselves with us or without us, but they repeat themselves; they can repeat themselves without us or with us, but they repeat themselves. What matters is that one changes his attitude toward the different circumstances of life; that is, we need to self-know ourselves profoundly.

The Fifth Gospel The Exercise of SELF-KNOWLEDGE

✦ ✦ ✦

How this was made. All fifty-two books were extracted — 73,105 paragraphs, 2,157,671 words — and swept on his words for the law: recurrence (and the scanner's reoccurrence, which one book uses throughout), the law of return and the eternal return, everything happens again, the same scenes and dramas, time as round, and the personality born with its time. Because he teaches it in whole chapters whose middle paragraphs carry none of those words, every paragraph within two of a paragraph naming the law was offered too, by position. That returned 582 candidate paragraphs in 30 books, and the position gather supplied 103 of the passages judged printable. Every candidate was read twice, by independent readers working from a written brief; the two passes agreed on whether to print 94.5% of the time and on the class 89.7%, and a third reader, who saw neither verdict, settled the 32 they did not. 247 were judged printable and 243 are printed here; the rest are recorded, with the reason each was set aside.

What was set aside. 128 of the paragraphs gathered by position turned out to be the next subject, as expected. 84 were the law of return as a doctrine of rebirth — who reincarnates, the 108 existences — which is a subject of its own and is not printed here. 27 belong to a finished work in the same words, 14 to the law of karma, 12 were the ordinary word, and 11 named the law only in passing.

The largest single body of it is spoken, not written. 71 of these passages come from the two Fifth Gospel volumes, across 10 named lectures, each cited by the name of the lecture with the place and the year where the volumes record them.

No silent correction was needed. The 243 passages stand exactly as the books have them. The only thing done to any of them is the line-end break of the Fifth Gospel's two narrow columns — 105 broken words, 95 closed up and 10 keeping their hyphen — decided against the corpus rather than by guess.

No sentence of his is cut in half. Each range was extended against the corpus until his sentence closed, a passage that turned out to be the second half of the one before it was absorbed into it, and 23 ranges run over more than one paragraph.

1 paragraph was cut for standing twice. The Great Rebellion restates a line of The Three Mountains with nothing added, in the same section; the earlier book is kept. Where he says the law again in other words, his repetition is his own and stands.

38 passages also stand in a finished work, and every one is marked where it stands — most of them The Mechanical Man, Desire and Will and The Transformation of Impressions. An overlap is allowed wherever it is needed to get the teaching across; what is not allowed is an overlap a reader cannot see.

Checked five ways. Every reader's note was proved to sit on the passage as it is actually printed. Every printed pair was compared as sequences, and the restatements that survived were read against both sources by eye. Every ragged edge was repaired or named. Every one of the 34 passages marked a practice was proved to carry its own instruction. And no passage stands on this page in the wrong language.
