Every word here is his. Nothing has been paraphrased, joined or improved. Each passage was cut out of the book it belongs to by reference, and each carries that book and the paragraph it came from — and, where he was speaking rather than writing, the name of the lecture with the place and the year the volume records for it — so anything on this page can be found again in the source.

He means it literally. “The intellectual animal is in fact a machine controlled by different Egos.” It is the ground the whole psychology stands on, and he says it in book after book, from the 1950s to his last lectures: a machine moved by the “I”s, which believes that it acts. “everyone thinks he does something and no one does anything; everything happens to us, like when it rains, like when it thunders.” The first part is that: the machine, the puppet, the robot, the legion at the wheel, and the illusion of doing.

The machine has parts, and a use. “These are the five cylinders of the organic machine.” The second part is how they run and how they are misused, and the mechanical life that comes of it. The third is what the machine is for — each of us a little “machine meant to transform energies” for the Earth, moved by the Moon and by the waves of the cosmos — and his answer to the hope that it will evolve out of its condition by itself: “It is not possible for the true human being to appear through evolving mechanics.”

He does not leave it there. “When one attempts to stop being a machine, when one no longer wants to be a machine, Nature opposes him.” The fourth part is the way out, and it starts where he says it starts: “when someone accepts that he is a machine, he begins to stop being one”

IHumanoid beings are machines

The first thing he says, and he says it everywhere: the intellectual animal is a machine, not yet a man. It has no freedom of its own, it is moved by laws outside it and inside it, and it does not know it is a machine.

Mechanical Man Mechanical man is the unhappiest beast that exists in this valley of tears. Yet, he has the pretension and even the impudence to call himself the King of Nature.

Fundamental Education, 1970

The mankind of our present era, that poor intellectual animal which mistakenly classifies itself as man, has invented thousands of extremely complex and intricate machines. He knows quite well that to be able to use a machine one sometimes needs long years of study and apprenticeship, but when it comes to himself he totally forgets this fact, even though he himself is a machine more complicated than all those he has invented.

Fundamental Education, 1970

There is no man who is not filled with totally false ideas about himself. The gravest thing about all this is that he does not want to realize that he really is a machine.

Fundamental Education, 1970

The human machine does not have freedom of motion.

Fundamental Education, 1970

All the movements, actions, words, ideas, emotions, feelings and desires of a human machine, are provoked by external stimuli and by many strange and complex internal causes.

Fundamental Education, 1970

The intellectual animal is a machine, but a rather special machine. If this machine manages to comprehend that he is a machine, if he is guided well and if circumstances allow, he can cease to be a machine and transform himself into a Man.

Fundamental Education, 1970

The intellectual Beast is an Unconscious Machine without responsibility whatsoever. He does not have True Individuality.

The Solar Bodies, 1968

Someone has to control the brain to carry out actions; it is controlled by the psychic aggregates or it is controlled by the scientists through special electric systems. In any case the investigations come to totally confirm what we say; the intellectual humanoid is an unconscious, automatic, subconscious machine.

Yes, There Is a Hell, a Devil and Karma, 1973 also in Awakening

How can an unconscious machine accept that it is asleep? How can such a machine affirm that the world is maya, illusion, etc.?

Yes, There Is a Hell, a Devil and Karma, 1973

The humanoid machine because of the very fact that it is a machine dreams but it ignores that it dreams, it denies that it dreams, it firmly believes that it is awake and it would never accept the thesis that it is asleep.

Yes, There Is a Hell, a Devil and Karma, 1973 also in Awakening

The automatic and mechanized humanoid Is not capable of differentiating the objective from the subjective, because of the very fact of being mechanized and it takes as objective what is subjective and vice-versa.

Yes, There Is a Hell, a Devil and Karma, 1973

The asleep machine, the humanoid automaton is very far from being able to comprehend the difference between objective consciousness and subjective consciousness; the machine has its own thesis precisely based on the profound sleep of the consciousness. It is not possible in any manner to make an asleep profane person comprehend the difference between consciousness and subconsciousness, between objectivity and subjectivity, between sleep and vigil, etc.

Yes, There Is a Hell, a Devil and Karma, 1973 also in Awakening, Identification

This doctrine goes straight to the point, to concrete, dear and definite facts. This doctrine emphatically affirms that the “intellectual animal,” mistakenly called human being, is a mechanical, unconscious, asleep biped.

Treatise of Revolutionary Psychology, 1975 also in Awakening

Gregarious conduct is the tendency that the human machine has to mix with others, without distinction and without control of any type.

The Revolution of the Dialectic

All human beings are one hundred percent mechanical. Unconscious beings working with their consciousness asleep without knowing where they come from, or where they are going; they are profoundly hypnotized.

The Revolution of the Dialectic also in Awakening

We think that we are individuals when we are just machines. We never accept to be treated as machines, we cannot accept others thinking that we are asleep. We feel awake, very awake, but in truth we are asleep.

The Fifth Gospel The Precariousness of the Human Psyche lst International Meeting of Hermetic Culture – Guadalajara. Jalisco, Mexico – October 28. 1975 also in Awakening

The time has come for us to become more serious, because until now we have not learned how to be serious. We are the product of the environment: we repeat what others say, we do what others do; real machines without rhyme or reason, logs thrown into the furious sea of existence. We have methods in our school through which you can see, hear, touch and feel what we are telling you. We truly invite you to come to our studies. If you enter our studies, you will not regret it, because you will know yourselves and you will be able to radically transform yourselves.

The Fifth Gospel The Reality and Fantasy of our Psychology Public Lecture – 1976

With all that we have heard from the brothers, obviously, we are certainly in a regrettable state: true machines subject to external and internal laws, to forces of action and reaction, etc.

The Fifth Gospel The Intimate Need to Not Project Excursion – Alameda Park, Mexico City

In public, many would do things they would never do in their private lives. All this shows us that there is no true mental individuality in people; we are simply machines that go from here to there without rhyme or reason, nor orientation, we are donkeys.

The Fifth Gospel The Mind and Ethics of Resurrected Masters Third Chamber – Mexico City – December 31. 1975

Master: Well, if one has not reached that state, he is still a machine and he is a victim of his own mind, he is a failure. With good reason Master Helena Petrovna Blavatsky says in The Voice of Silence: “The Mind which is a slave to the senses, makes the Soul as invalid as the boat that the wind sets adrift on the waters”. If one is not able to control his own thoughts, unquestionably, he is still doing very badly, that is, he is a machine, machine, machine... Any other question?

The Fifth Gospel Psychological Foundations of the False Personality Third Chamber – Mexico City

Master Gurdjieff said that the organic machine has no psychology. I have to disagree quite a bit with him on that matter. Psychology does exist in any organic machine called man –mistakenly, by the way–; that happens is that it is disorganized, and this is different.

The Fifth Gospel The Power of Intuition of the Psychological Man Third Chamber – Mexico City – June 22, 1977

Each one of the “I’s” which dwell inside us is like a different person; that is why we have clearly said that within each person there are many persons. Now you will understand why we affirm in an emphatic way that the humanoid is a mere machine, that humanoid beings are machines.

IIImagine for a moment, dear reader, a mechanical puppet

His oldest figure for it. A puppet on strings that believes it moves itself, a doll that talks when it is wound. The parable comes from Fundamental Education, where he wrote it for teachers and children.

The intellectual animal is a feeble talking-marionette with memory and vitality, a living puppet having the foolish illusion that it can do, when in reality it can do nothing.

Fundamental Education, 1970

Imagine for a moment, dear reader, a mechanical puppet automatically controlled by a complex mechanism.

Fundamental Education, 1970

Imagine that this puppet is alive, falls in love, speaks, walks, desires, starts wars, etc.

Fundamental Education, 1970

Imagine that this puppet can change masters at any moment. You must imagine that each owner is a different person, a person who has his own views, his own ways to enjoy himself, to feel, to live, etc.

Fundamental Education, 1970

Truly, the puppet of our example has done nothing, yet he thinks he has. He has the illusion that he does when in fact he can do nothing, because he does not have an individual Being.

Fundamental Education, 1970

Beyond all doubt everything happens just as when it rains, when it thunders, when the sun warms us… yet the poor puppet believes that he can do. He has the silly illusion that he does everything, but in reality he has done nothing. It is their respective masters who have amused themselves with the poor, mechanical puppets.

Fundamental Education, 1970

Such is the poor intellectual animal, dear reader; a mechanical puppet, just like the one in our illustrative example. He believes that he does, when in reality he does nothing. He is a marionette of flesh and blood controlled by a legion of subtle energetic entities which, as a whole, constitute that which is called the ego, the pluralized ‘I’.

Fundamental Education, 1970

If we say that the ego is a legion of demons that control the human machine, we are not exaggerating, it is so.

Fundamental Education, 1970

It is lamentable to continue as mechanical puppets, miserable mortals, machine-men.

Fundamental Education, 1970

Thus, the gravest foolishness of the Intellectual Animals is to believe that they are doing things, when indeed, they cannot do anything. They are simple Human Marionettes moved by unknown forces.

The Solar Bodies, 1968

Human Machines have no sense of moral responsibility whatsoever; they are simple Marionettes who think, feel and act in accordance to the type of “I” that controls the capital centers of the Human Machine in a given moment. In fact, if one type of “I” is displaced, then the Human Marionette modifies his mental and sentimental processes; thus, the outcome is different and may even be in the form of completely opposite actions.

The Solar Bodies, 1968

First of all, we need to comprehend that we are machine-persons, simple marionettes controlled by secret agents by hidden “I’s”

Treatise of Revolutionary Psychology, 1975

A practice

Thus, inside of each one of us we have people of all types, “I” of all species. Our personality is nothing more than a marionette, a talking doll, something mechanical. Let us start by acting consciously during a small portion of our day. We need to stop being simple machines, even if it is for at least a few brief daily minutes. This will have a decisive influence on our existence.

Treatise of Revolutionary Psychology, 1975

This is how people are mere marionettes controlled by invisible strings, mechanical dolls with fickle ideas and without continuity of purpose.

Treatise of Revolutionary Psychology, 1975

Human personality is only a puppet controlled by invisible strings.

The Great Rebellion, 1975

The external man has his way of being, is something with multiple attitudes and typical reactions in life, a puppet moved by invisible strings.

The Great Rebellion, 1975

Conclusion: we are puppets moved by invisible strings; the “I’s” play with us. This is the truth of things.

The Fifth Gospel Magic and Experimental Psychology Public Lecture – 1976

Everyone comes and goes; there is no permanent center of gravity. We are true puppets pulled by invisible threads. Each one of our “I’s” –as you have seen here on stage–, controls us by means of invisible threads.

The Fifth Gospel The Precariousness of the Human Psyche lst International Meeting of Hermetic Culture – Guadalajara. Jalisco, Mexico – October 28. 1975

We are poor machines controlled by invisible threads; those “I’s” have us in their clutches. This is how the show has been presented tonight, in such a clear and wonderful way.

The Fifth Gospel The Precariousness of the Human Psyche lst International Meeting of Hermetic Culture – Guadalajara. Jalisco, Mexico – October 28. 1975

This invites us to understand that within every person there are many persons. Each one of them has its own mind, its own will, its own feelings. So, our physical person is nothing more than a puppet, a doll, a robot controlled by many persons that we carry within.

The Fifth Gospel The Reality and Fantasy of our Psychology Public Lecture – 1976

A practice

So where is the true individuality of that one? What is his strength? If we reflect on all this very seriously, my dear brothers, and we resort to the obvious self-reflection, we can obtain the logical conclusion that we are all simple puppets moved by invisible strings, that each one of us is a doll with which others play, that we do not possess a true conscious individuality, and this is obviously lamentable. It is urgent for us to become more self-reflective; it is urgent for us to become more individual; it is urgent for us to become more conscious of our own life.

The Fifth Gospel The Mind and Ethics of Resurrected Masters Third Chamber – Mexico City – December 31. 1975

A practice

It is indispensable to learn to govern our own psychological processes. In no way should we continue as simple puppets; it is unworthy to continue being controlled by others.

The Fifth Gospel The Mind and Ethics of Resurrected Masters Third Chamber – Mexico City – December 31. 1975

Thus, within our person there are thousands of persons, and each one of them is organized with its three brains. The personality is nothing more than a puppet pulled by invisible strings.

IIIA programmed robot functions in accordance with the programme

The modern figure. A robot programmed by school, by custom and by the programme of the age, that reacts to whatever touches it and cannot doubt the programme because it was built by it.

A practice

It is necessary to stop being robots, to awaken consciousness, and to discover for ourselves what is this very terrible struggle of passing exams, studying, living at a certain place just to study everyday and spend the whole year having nervous breakdowns, worrying, being distressed, practicing sports, quarreling with fellow students, etc.

Fundamental Education, 1970 also in Awakening

Unfortunately, the human being is an unconscious, sleeping robot, who only knows how to imitate: we imitate other people’s clothing, and out of that imitation emerge the different trends of fashion. We imitate other people’s customs and habits, even when they are quite mistaken.

Fundamental Education, 1970 also in Awakening

It is clear that the intellectual animal mistakenly called man is a robot programmed with nursery, primary, secondary school, college, university, etc.

The Great Rebellion, 1975

Nobody can deny that a programmed robot functions in accordance with the programme, it definitely would not be able to function if the programme were removed.

The Great Rebellion, 1975

The ANTICHRIST has elaborated the programme with which the humanoid robots of theses decadent times are programmed.

The Great Rebellion, 1975

So serious is this matter and so terrible the absorption of the mind, that not even remotely would any humanoid robot suspect that the programme is of no use, because he has been arranged accordingly with the programme, and to doubt it would seem to him a heresy, something incongruous and absurd.

The Great Rebellion, 1975

It is absurd for a robot to doubt its programme; it is something absolutely impossible, because his very same existence is due to the programme.

The Great Rebellion, 1975

The robot humanoid reacts and he has a cause to react, because he has not been programmed for another science, neither for another culture, nor for anything different from its usual programme.

The Great Rebellion, 1975

The ANTICHRIST has elaborated the programmes of the humanoid robot; the robot humbly prostrates itself before its master. How could the robot doubt the wisdom of its master?

The Great Rebellion, 1975

Under such conditions, human personality is just a robot governed by different people who dispute for supremacy and who aspire to the supreme control of the organic machine's capital centres.

The Great Rebellion, 1975

THE PSYCHOLOGICAL ROBOT The intellectual animal is similar to a robot programmed by mechanical wheels, and he is also similar to a clock because he keeps repeating the same movements of past existences.

The Revolution of the Dialectic

The human being, falsely called man, is a psychological robot who does nothing, everything happens to him. The Being is the only one who does. The Being causes to surge what he wants because he is not a mechanical entity.

The Revolution of the Dialectic

So too, Consciousness, deep down, vibrates with the whole cosmos. But what does the personality know about that? Our life unfolds within a total subjective mechanism. We know nothing about the real, we don’t have consciousness of the mysteries of life and death; we do not know why we act, why we live, what we work for, what is the purpose of our existence. We are immersed in the most supine ignorance. And the false Consciousness has displaced the true Consciousness. This false ostentatious Consciousness can sometimes be surprising, but it obviously works mechanically. We are mechanical puppets, to speak more clearly, simple robots programmed for this or that profession, for this or that art, for this or that trade or job.

The Fifth Gospel The Wonders of Awakened Consciousness Public Lecture – 1975

One is programmed: they put one into kindergarten according to a certain program; then one goes to Primary school according to the program; then to Secondary school, to “high school”, and if one is very lucky and the brain helps him a little, one is programmed to go to university. In the end, one receives a degree, this is obvious; look, it serves to earn “some beans”, as we say, but in the end, one is nothing more than a programmed robot and that is all. Consciousness has not intervened at all in that whole program. In this entire program, the personality, which is the real robot, works; it is not programmed for esoteric matters, it has not been programmed to study the mysteries of life and death; nor have they programmed this human robot to study, for example, that which is related to the subtle forces of Nature.

The Fifth Gospel The Wonders of Awakened Consciousness Public Lecture – 1975

In any case the Being, the true Being, does not express himself in the intellectual animal; he normally lives in the Milky Way, he moves in the Milky Way. What acts in this world, is the robot programmed by the Law of Recurrence.

The Fifth Gospel Gnostic Psychology of False Feelings Third Chamber – Mexico City – May 4. 1977

I repeat, the intellectual animal is a programmed robot and his brain is a marvelous computer, a self-sustaining computer, a computer that mathematically calculates with exact precision what vibrations it needs for a brain cell; a computer that records visual waves and sound waves; that records what is exterior and what is interior, and that provides for itself. It is a first-class, wonderful computer, but that is all it is and nothing more than that, a computer.

The Fifth Gospel Intelligent Assimilation of Impressions

And who lives here, in this painful valley of life? Lots of shadows provided with physical organisms. But what do these organisms do? Nothing. They move mechanically according to the program that has been deposited in the brain; and I do not only say in the physical brain, but in the three brains: in the intellectual, in the emotional and in the motor.

The Fifth Gospel Intelligent Assimilation of Impressions

A practice

I would like to see one who tells me that he truly has a real existence. I do not see here anything but machines that move, programmed machines, programmed robots and nothing more. Obviously, we need to stop being robots, and we can stop being robots; but to stop being robots, we must eliminate all the psychic aggregates; it is obvious.

The Fifth Gospel Intelligent Assimilation of Impressions

But then the know-it-alls intervene with their primary and secondary schools, the media, television, modem life with all its brutalities and outrageous things, and then they eliminate that data and turn human beings into automata who live reacting to the impacts of the outside world: they are insulted, they answer with an insult; they are hit, they hit; they are told: “this is a radio”, and they say: “that is a radio”. Why? Because they were taught that when an impression like that comes, it corresponds to a radio.

The Fifth Gospel Particularities of Objective Reason Conference – Mexico City – 1975

“Is this a glass?” “Yes, this is a glass.” Why? They were told so. And they respond to everything that appears to them with data that has been put into their heads. But they do not respond with their Consciousness, with their objective reason, because they do not give them the opportunity to develop objective reason; they do not give them the opportunity for the Consciousness to work, [for it] to express itself in the form of objective reason; that opportunity is not given to them, rather they turn creatures into automatic beings and nothing else. They are hit, they hit; they are insulted, they insult; they put thousands of things in their heads so that they answer everything, each thing according to what they have been taught, and that is it. From memory, they do not have consciousness of anything; automated dolls which react incessantly, incessantly, incessantly to sensorial impressions; in one way or another, but they always react with concepts, with words, with ideas, etc., but they react to all external sensorial impressions.

The Fifth Gospel Particularities of Objective Reason Conference – Mexico City – 1975 also in The Mind

So if we look at this doll called a human being, we see that there is nothing human about it, given that it is a humanoid, a kind of robot which spends his life reacting to the impressions of the outside world. It is like a double Consciousness. On the one hand, there is that personal Consciousness, which is nothing more than the result of received education, of customs, of impressions, of all that exterior automatism. They have put thousands of things into one’s head and one responds to all impressions with all the data that one has accumulated in the brain. That gives one, together with habits, together with prejudices, etc., that overtone of false Consciousness which every person has. Unfortunately, everyone gets to believe that this is the true Consciousness.

The Fifth Gospel Particularities of Objective Reason Conference – Mexico City – 1975

So people like that, who have discarded the true Consciousness, who do not use it at all, who only possess subjective reason, in fact are pure robots. That is why it is easy to build a robot. There are perfect, marvelous robots, they react to all impressions. When there is an impression, immediately, the robot, mechanically, translates that impression exactly like a human brain. It is a robot-psyche, [one] could say: “this is a chair, this is a table”, they make him obey, and it does all the things that any one of those talking dolls, any human person, or humanoid person can do.

The Fifth Gospel Particularities of Objective Reason Conference – Mexico City – 1975

IVWe are only machines controlled by the legion of the ‘I’

Who is driving. Not one person but a legion: the 'I's, the psychic aggregates, each taking the wheel of the one machine in turn. The body is their instrument, and the brain their computer.

Really, the plurality of the ‘I’ is the foundation of the plurality of the mind. The ‘I’ is a legion of devils. Each devil has its own mind. The organic machine is under the control of many devils that do not even know one another; devils that argue among themselves, devils that fight for supremacy, devils of desire; devils of the memories, appetite, fears, hatreds, violence, passions, envies, covetousness, lust, pride, jealousy, anger, etc. The mind has no individuality and nevertheless the pseudo occultist texts speak marvelously about human individuality. So much ignorance causes pain. Egotism is the foundation of ignorance. We need to dissolve the ego. Only by dying to the Myself, only be de-egotizing ourselves, do we individualise. But individuality is not everything: later we have to arrive at Super Individuality.

Christmas Messages, 1952–66 also in The Mind

This is the system in order to create a mental body. Thus the mental body is born. The mental body gives us true mental individuality. The mental body makes us into individuals. Only with the mental body do we become individuals. It is false to say that we are already individuals. At this moment in time we are only machines controlled by the legion of the ‘I’. That is all. The excess of the vital substances that are not wasted in the astral body can then be utilized for the nourishment of the mental body. Hydrogen 24, when it is not being totally consumed in the astral body, becomes Hydrogen 12, which is used to nourish the mental body.

Christmas Messages, 1952–66 also in The Mind

The intellectual animal falsely named man is a machine controlled by the Legion of the EGO. This is pluralised. I must read a book, says the intellectual function. I am going to a football match, says the motor function; I am hungry, I shall not go anywhere , states the digestion; I prefer to find a woman, says the EGO of passion etc. etc. All these EGOES argue among themselves. The EGO that today swears faithfulness to GNOSIS, is replaced by another that hates GNOSIS. The EGO that today adores a woman, is later replaced by another that hates her.

The Book of the Dead, 1965

The human organism is a wonderful machine controlled by the pluralized “I”, which is studied thoroughly in revolutionary psychology.

Fundamental Education, 1970

Each one of these small “I”s that constitute the ego wants to command , to be the leader, the master. In the light of revolutionary psychology we can comprehend that the ego is legion, and that the human organism is a machine.

Fundamental Education, 1970

A true individual does not exist within the wretched Intellectual Beast. Each idea, each sentiment, each movement, each sensation, each desire, etc., are simply psychological manifestations of the distinct, different “I’s” which are never connected amongst themselves nor coordinated in any way. Any given “I” will mechanically follow another “I” and some of them may even have the luxury of appearing to work together but not in any systematic order.

The Solar Bodies, 1968

We have explained many times that the Five Cylinders of the Human Machine are unfortunately controlled by the Pluralized “I” by that Legion of “I” which live within these psychological Centers.

The Solar Bodies, 1968

Among themselves, certain stronger “I’s” dominate other weak “I’s” however, their strength comes from the energy of the Cylinders of the Human Machine. All of the “I’s” are the outcome of the external and internal influences. True individuality does not exist within the Intellectual Animal. Present humans are merely Machines.

The Solar Bodies, 1968

We need to comprehend what we are poor, sleepy beasts, machines which are controlled by the ego.

Runic Magic, 1969 also in Awakening

The intellectual animal is in fact a machine controlled by different Egos. Some Egos represent anger in all its aspects, others greed and some others lust, etc.

The Mystery of the Golden Blossom, 1971 also in Greed

Answer: Distinguished friend, lathes, gentlemen, we should understand that the intellectual animal mistakenly called man is not yet a realized being; this means that one is a mathematical point in space, who accedes to serve as a vehicle to determined sums of Each subject is a poor thinking animal condemned to the sentence of life, a machine controlled by multiple infrahuman and bestial psychic aggregates The only dignifying thing that is within each of us is the essence, the psychic material, the prime matter to fabricate soul, and the latter, unfortunately, is imprisoned within all these inhumane psychic aggregates.

Yes, There Is a Hell, a Devil and Karma, 1973

Connecting certain nodules to the brain, men of science can control diverse sections of the latter. In these conditions the human machine can be handled through waves and this has already been absolutely demonstrated.

Yes, There Is a Hell, a Devil and Karma, 1973

With this it has been perfectly demonstrated that every organism is a machine susceptible to being controlled like any other.

Yes, There Is a Hell, a Devil and Karma, 1973

In the case of the humanoid machine it is obvious that the diverse psychic inhumane aggregates that, pushing against each other, control in diverse times the varying cerebral zones, integrally replace the cerebral nodules, the waves and the automatic machines with which scientists can control brains.

Yes, There Is a Hell, a Devil and Karma, 1973

Therefore, such a person in himself is nothing more than a machine who just easily serves as a vehicle to one “I” or another.

Treatise of Revolutionary Psychology, 1975

We are machines that are controlled exclusively by different “I’s.” We serve Nature’s economy. We do not have a defined individuality as is erroneously supposed by many pseudo-esoterists and pseudo-occultists.

Treatise of Revolutionary Psychology, 1975

Unquestionably, what the human machine may say or do in any given moment, depends exclusively on the kind of "I" which is controlling him in those instants. It is said that Jesus of Nazareth drove seven demons out of the body of Mary Magdalene, seven "I"s, living personifications of the seven deadly sins.

The Great Rebellion, 1975

Human personality is nothing else than a machine in the service of those "I"s with so many commitments.

The Great Rebellion, 1975

Once the ‘I’ is dead, the psychic material accumulates within us becoming the PCC. Nowadays, the human being, or we should better say, the biped that auto classifies himself as “human”, is really a machine that is controlled by the legion of the ‘I’. Let us observe the tragedy of people in love: How many promises! How many tears! How many good intentions! And what happens? Only the sad memory of all that remains. They marry, time transpires, the man falls in love with another woman or the wife falls in love with another man, and the castle in the air falls to the ground. Why? Because the human does not yet have his PCC.

The Revolution of the Dialectic

Many could deny this, reject it, but it is the truth. We do not possess a completely permanent “I”, because just as quick as we are irritable, short-tempered, we are also suddenly sweet and serene; as soon we say one thing, there we also deny it. There is no permanent “I” in us. What we have is a multiplicity of “I’s”. The physical body is a machine; it is controlled by many “I's”. These “I’s” are not physical matters, these “I’s” are invisible to the eyes of the flesh. But that fellow who looked in the mirror, saw them and got scared, and he left his school. If one could see oneself as he is in a mirror, the same thing would happen to him, he would be horrified and flee.

The Fifth Gospel Magic and Experimental Psychology Public Lecture – 1976 also in Anger

The personal Ego is a sum of ”I’s”. The intellectual animal is a machine controlled by ”I’s”. These are the “Red Demons” mentioned in the Book of the Dead of ancient Egypt. It is indispensable to know that the only worthy thing that we carry within us is the Essence. Unfortunately, this, in itself, is dispersed here, there and everywhere, imprisoned in each of the different ”I’s”.

The Fifth Gospel The Balance of the Energetic Centers Conference given to Gnostic students

In revolutionary psychology, the need for a radical transformation is evident to us, and this is only possible by declaring to ourselves a ruthless and cruel war to the death. There is no real individuality in us, therefore it is impossible to have continuity of purposes. What a given “I” declares in an instant cannot be taken seriously, due to the concrete fact that any “I” can declare exactly the opposite in any moment. The most serious is that there are people who emphatically declare they are always the same. The person himself is nothing more than a machine that serves as a vehicle for one “I” or another.

The Fifth Gospel The Balance of the Energetic Centers Conference given to Gnostic students

We are puppets moved by multiple unknown entities. The thoughts that come to our mind are not ours, they are from someone else, some “I” bring them to us. The emotions that stir our heart are placed there by some other “I”. The habits that we possess are determined by different “I’s”. The aberrations, the vices are the result of many “I’s” that express themselves through the human organism.

The Fifth Gospel The Organization of our Inner World Public Lecture – 1975

We do not have consciousness of ourselves. Our life does not belong to us, we are not masters of our thoughts, we are not masters of our ideas, we are not masters of our words, we are not masters of our emotions. We are simple machines driven by an enormous multiplicity of “I’s”. This is the state in which we find ourselves. But to reach these conclusions, one needs to self-observe in order to see oneself.

The Fifth Gospel The Organization of our Inner World Public Lecture – 1975 also in Identification

Such inner persons struggle for supremacy, they fight among themselves, they hate each other. When one of them manages to control the brain, heart and sex totally, then it feels like it is the only one. We have no sense of moral responsibility: we are machines controlled by many people.

The Fifth Gospel The Reality and Fantasy of our Psychology Public Lecture – 1976

That is to say we do not have a permanent “I”, what we have is a multiplicity of “I’s”. Our human person is a machine moved by different “I’s”. Today we think of one thing, tomorrow we think of another, that is, our mind is a fickle mind: it moves in the direction that the wind moves it.

The Fifth Gospel The Consequences of Psychological Plurality Public Lecture

We need to be more reflective. The way we are in reality and in truth, the way we find ourselves without digesting impressions, creating new “I’s” from second to second, from moment to moment, we are nothing more than simple machines controlled by psychic aggregates.

The Fifth Gospel Intelligent Assimilation of Impressions

19 passages

VAll of them want to control the capital centers of the organic machine

Why nobody stays the same for an hour. The 'I's fight for the capital centres of the machine, each rules for a moment and is thrown out, and so there is no one there who continues.

Any Gnostic student who truly wants to acquire a permanent center of consciousness in order to have continuity of purpose and achieve inner self-realization, must dissolve the pluralized I and eliminate, from his lunar bodies, the various subconscious and submerged entities being created every moment in the five cylinders of his machine. Only by “de-egotizing” ourselves can we “individualizes,” and only through possessing a true individuality will we stop behaving like fickle people and acquire seriousness and continuity of purpose.

The Buddha's Necklace, 1967

Some times certain Diabolic “I’s” (which do not belong to a certain person but which belong to other people’s psyche) come and accommodate themselves within any of the Five Cylinders of the Human Machine. This is how the honest citizen becomes a thief and the one who never dared to kill, not even a little bird, suddenly is converted into a cruel assassin, etc.

The Solar Bodies, 1968

The heat of the Sun and the good or bad weather, immediately gives way to the emergence of certain “I’s” which take over the Human Machine. Some of these “I’s” can be stronger than others.

The Solar Bodies, 1968

It is ostensible that such a crowd of devils control our organic machine here in the physical world and do not agree in the least among themselves.

Yes, There Is a Hell, a Devil and Karma, 1973

All of them struggle for supremacy; all of them want to control the capital centers of the organic machine. When one of them governs for a moment, he feels as if he is the master, the boss, the only one. However, afterwards he is dethroned and another one becomes the boss.

Yes, There Is a Hell, a Devil and Karma, 1973

Amongst the many "I"s there is no order or any concordance at all, they all quarrel with each other and dispute for supremacy. When any of them gains control of the capital centres of the organic machine, feels itself the only one, the master, but it is finally overthrown.

The Great Rebellion, 1975

Three-brained bipeds do not have any individuality, they do not have a Permanent Center of Consciousness, - PCC - . Each of his thoughts, feelings and actions depend on the calamity of the ‘I’ so that at a specific moment it may control the capital centers of the human machine.

The Revolution of the Dialectic

And this matter of the “I” is very serious. Deep down, we have many “I's” and this makes the human organism, as a consequence or corollary, a kind of puppet which is moved by different “I's”. The human body, obviously, is the instrument of different “I's”; they fight among each other for supremacy, each of them wants to be the master, the lord. When an “I” manages to control the totality of the organic machine, it feels like it is the only one, but very soon it is displaced by another, and the struggle, in the end, continues.

The Fifth Gospel Analysis of the Human Psyche Public Lecture – 1977

The human body is a puppet handled by invisible threads. It is controlled by all those psychic aggregates that we carry inside us. There is a struggle between these aggregates, there is no harmonic correlation between them. They fight for supremacy, all of them want to control the main centers of the organic machine. So, in the words of the possessed person in the Christian Gospel: “We are Legion!”

The Fifth Gospel Analysis of the Human Psyche Public Lecture – 1977

The moment has come for us to struggle to acquire a true conscious individuality. Those who believe that we are already individuals, are wrong. Many times, an “I”, for example, gets excited for a beloved woman, it brings down heaven for her, puts it at her feet and promises her plenty of things. Suddenly, another “I” controls the organic machine and says: “The hell with that woman!”, and the person leaves quietly, leaving the poor girl disappointed, terribly disappointed.

The Fifth Gospel Analysis of the Human Psyche Public Lecture – 1977

Thus, my dear friends, there is no authentic individuality. The different “I’s” that we have fight for supremacy. I want you to understand that this poor intellectual animal, mistakenly called man, is a puppet moved by different “I’s”. If we manage to disintegrate all these psychic aggregates, the authentic conscious individuality will remain in us; we will become, really, sacred individuals.

The Fifth Gospel Analysis of the Human Psyche Public Lecture – 1977

The “I” that swears eternal love to a woman is displaced tomorrow by another that has nothing to do with that oath, and then the person leaves, leaving the woman disillusioned. You see what the infinite forms of the mind are like, and how they control the main centers of the brain and how they play with the human machine.

The Fifth Gospel The Balance of the Energetic Centers Conference given to Gnostic students

When I was young, I talked about the sub-conscious and its reflexes; I understood then that the “I” had many reflexes. Later, I understood that the “I” was pluralized, that within a person live many persons, and that these many were not at all in agreement, there was no order among them: they fought, they quarreled over supremacy. And when one of those managed to prevail over the organic machine, it was truly then, when it manifested itself with all its monstrosities, with all its aberrations. But later it was displaced by other “I’s”.

The Fifth Gospel The Organization of our Inner World Public Lecture – 1975

All these little quarrelsome and screaming “I’s”, which together form the so-called psychological Ego or Myself, quarrel with each other, dispute over supremacy: each of them wants to control the capital centers of the organic machine.

The Fifth Gospel The Intimate Need to Not Project Excursion – Alameda Park, Mexico City

Each one of these aggregates is organized in a very similar way to the human personality. They possess their three brains: the intellectual, the emotional and the motor-instinctive-sexual one. Each aggregate looks like a person really. If we say that within our human person live many “persons”, we are not exaggerating, it is the case. And all those aggregates fight against one another, they fight for supremacy; each one of them wants to be the master, the lord. If that one who achieves to prevail over himself, that one who manages to control the five cylinders of the organic machine in a given instant, believes himself to be the only one, moments later, however, he is overthrown and another one takes his place.

The Fifth Gospel The Need to Crystallize the Soul Second Chamber – Mexico City – January 1977

Even you, sitting here, in the Second Chamber, listening, began with an aggregate. You sat down to listen, it is very alert. But if you pay attention to what has happened inside you up to this precise moment, you will discover that you are different now, that you are not the same ones who came here and sat down. Why? Because the psychic aggregate that controls the organic machine, and that began sitting down, was displaced by another one who is now listening. If I were to say that you are the same ones who started, I would be abusing your mind and my own.

The Fifth Gospel The Need to Crystallize the Soul Second Chamber – Mexico City – January 1977

The intellectual animal appears to be a man, but he is not. Why? First, because he does not possess the Golden Embryo, that is, he does not have a permanent center of Consciousness, he does not have a legitimate individuality, he does not possess self-consciousness; for that reason, he is irresponsible. Inside him, there is only a group of “I’s”. “I want to go for a walk”, says the “I” of movement. Immediately, that other “I” which is related to the intellect, quarrels and says: “No, I don’t want a walk, I’m going to read the newspaper.” Suddenly, the delicious dish appears on the dining room table, and then the “I” of digestion, the “I” of the stomach cries out saying: “No, I’m not going to walk or read newspapers, I’m hungry and I prefer to eat.” You see, brothers, that quarrel of “I’s”. So, there is no true individuality there. There is nothing but a group of “I’s” fighting for supremacy.

The Fifth Gospel Gnostic Meaning of the Golden Embryo Third Chamber – Mexico City – 1971 also in Gluttony

We know well that the Red Demons of Seth – which personify us– quarrel among themselves, they don’t have correlation nor harmony whatsoever. When one emerges and imposes itself and manages to control the capital centers of the organic machine, the others fight for supremacy and, finally, the one who managed to dominate the brain for a few moments, falls to leave the place to another.

The Fifth Gospel Causes and Consequences of the Kundartiguador Organ

When we observe the humanoids, both in life and after death, we see that they are absolutely irresponsible, machines controlled by the various aggregates. The latter fight for supremacy. Each one of them wants to control the capital centers of the machine, that is the harsh reality. In that sense, all humanoids are irresponsible. The psychic aggregates are the result of the consequences of the abominable Kundartiguador Organ. We also said that the Consciousness is bottled up within the Ego, and that it processes itself according to its own conditioning. Now then, if the Ego is the result of the bad consequences of the abominable Kundartiguador Organ, this means that the Consciousness is hypnotized by that universal hypnotic force. All humanoids are victims of that hypnotic force, but people do not realize the harsh reality until such hypnotic energy flows more rapidly, in a precipitated and concentrated way, as in the hypnotic sessions.

VIWe have the illusion of doing; yet, we do nothing

The illusion he returns to most. Everyone thinks he does something and nobody does anything; everything happens, the way it rains. Only the Being can do.

Only the Being can do and the human machine, the poor intellectual animal is not capable of doing anything: everything happens to him, he is a simple mechanical toy moved by forces he is ignorant of.

Christmas Messages, 1952–66

The machine man believes that he has true individuality, awakened consciousness, conscious will, the power to do, etc., but he has none of these things.

Fundamental Education, 1970 also in Desire and Will

The Intellectual Animal (mistakenly called a human being) cannot change his circumstances. He is a victim of circumstance. Everything that happens to him is as mechanical as one season flowing into another. However, he has the illusion of doing things; yet, in reality he does not have the power to do anything. Through him, all things happen.

The Solar Bodies, 1968

Indeed, we have the illusion of doing; yet, we do nothing. Things happen to us. This is fatal, mechanical...

Treatise of Revolutionary Psychology, 1975

Unfortunately, we live like machines, we are victims of circumstances. Rather than learning how to determine circumstances, we are victims of them; we are like logs thrown into the furious sea of existence, we go from here to there without knowing where we came from or where we are going.

The Fifth Gospel The Reality and Fantasy of our Psychology Public Lecture – 1976

It is necessary to disintegrate the Ego and to awaken the Consciousness so that the Monad, Atman-Buddhi, the Ruach-Elohim –who according to Moses tilled the waters in the beginning of the world–, the Sun King returns naturally to express himself within us, comes to manifestation, enters our human person. Only he can do. People believe that they do and they do nothing; they act in accordance with the Law of Recurrence, they are programmed machines, and that is all.

The Fifth Gospel Gnostic Psychology of False Feelings Third Chamber – Mexico City – May 4. 1977 also in Awakening

The true man is the Being; but if the machine acts, something that is not the Being is acting; a programmed robot is acting, but with a marvelous computer that is called brain; it is acting mechanically. So, it is not doing, it is acting.

The Fifth Gospel Intelligent Assimilation of Impressions

One thing is to do and another is to act. Any machine acts, moves, walks, fulfills its functions because it is a machine and it has been programmed for its functions, but to do is something different. Only the man can do, and the true man is the Being. Let us distinguish between the true man, who is the Being, and the machine; the machine is not the Being.

The Fifth Gospel Intelligent Assimilation of Impressions

Free will, strictly speaking, hardly exists. Imagine for a moment a violin inside its corresponding case: it barely has a small and insignificant margin in existence between the musical instrument and the case. Such a margin, by similarity, would give us an indication of the type of free will that we possess. However, it is possible for us to expand that little bit of free will: by working on ourselves, ceasing to be machines.

The Fifth Gospel Lunar Psychism and Solar Psychism Second Chamber – Mexico City – 1976 also in Desire and Will

The intellectual animal has the illusion that he does, but in truth he does nothing, everything happens through him.

Christmas Messages, 1952–66

The poor intellectual animal is always a victim of circumstances. He is not capable of consciously originating circumstances, but he mistakenly believes that he does so. In fact, only the Being (the Intimate) can consciously bring about circumstances, but unfortunately, the intellectual animal mistakenly called man does not yet possess the Being (the Intimate).

Christmas Messages, 1952–66

This is why we have been rightfully told that everything happens to us just as when it rains and thunders.

Treatise of Revolutionary Psychology, 1975

We live in a world of great activity where everyone thinks he does something and no one does anything; everything happens to us, like when it rains, like when it thunders. Why? Simply, because we have not incarnated the Being. Only the Being can do, he does.

The Fifth Gospel Intelligent Assimilation of Impressions

So all those “I’s”, as a whole, are people who live within one. Within each one of us live many people and each one of these people has his commitments, his ideas, his criteria, etc. So one believes one does, but one does nothing; everything happens to one, like when it rains, like when it thunders. And this which I am saying to you is fundamental, fundamental.

Part Two — How the machine runs

20 passages

IThese are the five cylinders of the organic machine

The machine has parts. Five cylinders, or centres (intellect, emotion, movement, instinct and sex), and two superior centres above them. Each works on its own and all of them are joined.

The human machine has seven centers, five inferior and two superior, which people do not even suspect. We are going to study the five inferior centers: the first is the intellectual center, the second is the emotional, the third is that of movement, the fourth is the instinctive, and the fifth is the sexual.

Christmas Messages, 1952–66

We have already said it and we are going to repeat that the ‘I’ is a legion of devils; the ‘I’ exists in a pluralised form, the five cylinders of the human machine give origin and strength to the legions of small ‘I’s which together make up that which is called ego, the ‘I’, the myself.

Christmas Messages, 1952–66

The “I” exerts control over the five inferior centers of the human machine. These five centers are: intellect, movement, emotion, instinct and sex. The two centers of the human machine that correspond to the Christ Consciousness are known in occultism as the Christ Mind and the Christ Astral. These two superior centers cannot be controlled by the “I”. Unfortunately, the superior mind and

The Perfect Matrimony, 1950 (ed. 1966)

The revolutionary psychology of the New Era affirms that the organic machine of the intellectual animal mistakenly called man exists in a three-centered or three-brained form.

Fundamental Education, 1970

All these small “I ‘s” are real demons that live within the lunar bodies and are created in the five centers of the machine. These five centers are intellect, emotion, movement, instinct, and sex. We discussed the five centers of the human machine thoroughly in our last Christmas message. It is lamentable that human beings, due to a lack of knowledge, are creating in these five centers innumerable demons, which steal part of their consciousness and their life.

The Buddha's Necklace, 1967

When the Intellectual Animal forgot his sad situation of being a little machine and fell in love with the beauties of this world, the abominable Kundartiguador organ was eliminated. Unfortunately, the bad consequences of said organ was something, which could not be forgotten; they remained deposited in the five cylinders of the machine. The first cylinder is that of the Intellect and is located in the cerebrum; the second is that of the Emotions and resides in the Solar Plexus, at the level of the navel; the third is that of Movement and resides in the superior part of the spinal column; the fourth is that of the Instincts, and is located in the inferior part of the spinal column; the fifth is that of Sex and resides in the sexual organs.

Esoteric Treatise of Hermetic Astrology, 1967

It is necessary to know that each of the five cylinders of the machine possesses its own characteristics that we should never confuse.

The organism of the Tri-Cerebrated Biped (mistakenly called a Human Being) is a precious machine with five marvelous Psycho physiological Centers.

The Solar Bodies, 1968

Each one of these Five Centers penetrates the entire organism; nonetheless, if one selfobserves profoundly, one becomes aware that each one of the centers has a central, basic point situated at a specific area of our organic machine.

The Solar Bodies, 1968

Each one of the centers of the “Machine” has absolutely defined specific functions. An in depth study of the five centers allows us to comprehend that different speeds exist amongst them. This has already been proven.

The Solar Bodies, 1968

All of the Five Cylinders of the human machine are fundamental for life, but, without a doubt, the Sexual Center, the Fifth Center, is indeed, the most important and the fastest of all. The very roots of our existence are found within the latter.

Unfortunately, the awful results of the organ of witches, remained in the five cylinders of the organic machine, centers known as intellect, emotion, movement, instinct and sex. How great –I say– if the Essence was not bottled, trapped within all the ”I’s”; how great if the child grew up without any “I” getting inside of him, if only the totality of his Essence existed in him throughout his life. Then all the five cylinders of the machine –intellect, emotion, movement, instinct and sex– would be under the control of the Essence and he would be marching in harmony with the infinite. Unfortunately, ninety-seven percent of the Essence is bottled up among the various elements that constitute the Ego, the “I”. We need to develop the Essence, unbottle it, liberate it. When we achieve this, multiple divine, natural powers will express themselves in us, in all their beauty and all their power. We do not need to strive for powers; what we must strive for is to die within ourselves, here and now, because “only with death does the new come”.

The Fifth Gospel The Objective Knowledge of the Essence Lecture given to Gnostic students – 1976 also in Awakening

An organic machine is very interesting; therefore, it is worth knowing it. The human body itself and by itself has its biology, its anatomy, its pathology, etc., and each area of the brain, undoubtedly, has many vital powers in reserve.

The Fifth Gospel The Balance of the Energetic Centers Conference given to Gnostic students

The three brains of man are related to the five centers of the human machine. Intellect, emotion, movement, instinct and sex are related to the same machine. The intellectual center, the emotional center and the motor center are worthy of our attention. Obviously, the motor-instinctive-sexual center is a perfect triangle; the motor-instinctive-sexual center does not hold antagonisms of any kind. That is why in general we talk about three brains: intellectual center, emotional center and motor-instinctive-sexual center.

The Fifth Gospel The Seven Minds and the Seven Truths Third Chamber – Mexico City – July 13, 1977

There are five centers in the machine, that is obvious: the intellectual, which is the first one; the emotional, which is the second one; the motor, which is the third one; the instinctive, which is the fourth one, and the sexual, the fifth. But the centers of the machine do not constitute the Being; they can put themselves at the Being’s service, but they are not the Being. Thus, neither the mind nor the feeling are the Being.

The Fifth Gospel Pedagogy of Knowing How to Live Third Chamber Mexico City – 1974

There is no doubt that within us there are the five main centers of the organic machine: the intellectual, the emotional, the motor, the instinctive and the sexual. The intellectual center is located in the brain; the motor center, in the superior part of the spine; the emotional center, unquestionably in the heart, the solar plexus and the sympathetic nerve centers; the instinctive center, in the lower part of the spine, and the sexual center, strictly speaking, is in the sex. These are the five cylinders of the organic machine.

The Fifth Gospel The New Generations Facing Gnosis Message directed to the Gnostic youth – Mexico City

Master: Unquestionably, each one of the main centers of the machine is in turn subdivided into three very important parts. But there are many other subdivisions not mentioned by Master G.; that in the intellectual center there is something of the emotional center and of the motor center, we cannot deny that! That in the emotional center there is something of the intellectual and of the motor, we do not deny it! That in the motor center, for instance, there is something of the intellectual and of the emotional, it is true!

IIThe incorrect function of the five psycho-physiologic centers of the human machine

How the parts are misused. One centre doing another's work, an impression going to the wrong cylinder, energy spent in the wrong place, and a whole education that falsifies them.

There exists sexual abuse in the action of the sex through the other centers of the human machine or the action of the other centers through the sexual center. Each center of the machine should function with its own energy, but unfortunately the other centers of the machine rob energy from the sex.

Christmas Messages, 1952–66

The incorrect function of the five psycho-physiologic centers of the human machine is due to the pernicious activities of the pluralized “I”; these are the evil consequences of the Abominable Kundartiguador Organ.

The Solar Bodies, 1968

Why are there so many confusions in the world? You see that the humanoids do not understand each other. I will give you a specific case. A lady, suddenly, for example, decides to help a gentleman because she likes him, because she finds him very nice, etc. She can do that disinterestedly; this lady does not have any thought of lust, she is not in love with the gentleman; he only seems like a good person and she wants to help him in his different needs, etc. But what happens? The gentleman has Ego and the Ego controls the five cylinders of his machine. As the Ego controls those five cylinders of his machine, then he interprets those kind actions of the lady as he pleases. Instead of going to the emotional center, it passes to another cylinder: to the instinctive-sexual center, and then lust arises in that gentleman.

The Fifth Gospel The Objective Knowledge of the Essence Lecture given to Gnostic students – 1976 also in Lust

The mind, of course, is controlled by sex, as has always been seen, and the gentleman says: “That lady is in love with me, she probably likes me.” Later, he begins to make proposals of a sexual nature; the lady is surprised and says: “Impossible, if I was helping him disinterestedly, and this man has misinterpreted my good manners, my good conduct.” Yes, he has misinterpreted them. Why has he misinterpreted them? Because he has Ego and the Ego controls the five cylinders of his machine. But if that gentleman had no Ego, if the Essence was the only one that controlled the five cylinders of his machine, the attention of that lady would pass to the emotional center, and this would express with pure kindness and true beauty; there would be no misinterpretation.

The Fifth Gospel The Objective Knowledge of the Essence Lecture given to Gnostic students – 1976

In this matter of wisdom that relates so much to the mind, we must understand, my dear brothers, that there exists an antithesis. I refer to the culture of the pseudo intellectual type with which one is fed during the preparatory age. Certainly, that culture that one receives in kindergarten, in Primary schools, in Secondary school, in the “High school”, in the University, is causing us horrific damages. I would rate such a culture as black magic of the worst kind, because that kind of culture –and may I be excused here by the university brothers, like E., and, all in all, by the brothers who have loads of information in their heads; I refer to everyone, even myself, I recognize that I also went through those so much vaunted schools of Primary and Secondary Education, and all that– it no longer has any relation with the different parts of the Being. Rather, it is fatally related, of course, to the five cylinders of the machine and it falsifies them. The intellectual center is the one which receives the worst damages; then the emotional center, the motor,

Anger produces pain; if we put an end to anger, we sacrifice the pain, we destroy it. It is necessary to observe ourselves from moment to moment; the pluralized “I” works in each of the five centers of the machine. Sometimes it is an “I” of the Emotional Center which is the one that reacts angrily, or is jealous, or envious; sometimes the prejudices and calumnies of the Intellectual Center violently attack with all their fury; other times, the erroneous perverse habits lead us to failure, etc., etc., etc.

The two superior centers of the human being, since they are Superior Mind and Superior Emotion, cannot be controlled by the “I”. If we want to dissolve the “I”, we must first understand it in the five inferior centers—we need comprehension. It is urgent to comprehend the actions and reactions of each one of the five inferior centers of the human machine. The “I” works with these five inferior centers, and by completely comprehending the activity of each one of those five inferior centers, we are on the way to the dissolution the “I”. Two different people react in different ways regarding an image, representation or performance. What is pleasant or agreeable to one person can be unpleasant or disagreeable to another. The difference is, often times, in that a person may judge and see with the mind and another may have his feelings touched. We must learn how to tell the mind and feelings apart from each other. The mind is one thing and feeling is another. In the mind there is an entire interplay of actions and reactions that must be carefully comprehended. In the feelings there are affections or attachments that must be crucified, emotions that must be studied, and in general a whole mechanism of actions and reactions that are easily confused with the activities of the mind.

What should we do? Solve problems? No, that is not what is needed. Then what? What is needed is to dissolve them. How are they dissolved? Simply, by forgetting them. When someone is worried, go out a little to the countryside and try to be in harmony with all things, with all that is, with all that has been and with all that will be. Forgetting problems is basic. You will tell me that “it is impossible to forget problems”, but it is indeed possible. When one wants to forget them, all he has to do is put any other center of the organic machine to work.

First of all, in these studies, we must start with the intellectual and emotional centers. We truly need to change our way of thinking; otherwise, we will be treading on the path of error.

Whoever wants to learn to eliminate all the harmful factors of the false personality must manage the five centers of the organic machine and know how to manage them. It is also necessary to know how to use the energies that flow within the organism.

The Fifth Gospel Psychological Foundations of the False Personality Third Chamber – Mexico City

A practice

There are many useless mechanical “I’s” in the five centers of the machine that must be eliminated, “I’s” of many stupidities that must be eliminated. Conceit, vanity within the false personality originate, from their depths, certain actions that prove to be totally mistaken and harmful. See for yourselves how necessary the self-exploration of oneself is, how indispensable it is to self-explore!

We can be assured that the past conditions our present life. We can affirm that Satan is time. We can say without fear of making a mistake, that time cannot free us from this valley of tears, because time is Satanic. We have to learn how to live from moment to moment. Life is an eternal now, an eternal present. Satan was the creator of time. Those who think to liberate themselves in a distant future, within a few million years, with the passing of time and the ages, are sure candidates for the abyss and the second death because time is of Satan. Time liberates no one. Satan enslaves. Satan does not liberate. We need to liberate ourselves right now. We need to live from instant to instant. Every human being has seven basic, fundamental centers. Let us see: superior emotion does not yet have these two precious Christic vehicles at their disposal. When the superior mind is clothed with the Christ Mind and when the superior emotion is invested with the Christ Astral, really we are elevated to the state of the true human being. Everyone who wishes to dissolve the “I” should study it’s functions in the five inferior centers. We should not condemn the defects; neither should we justify them. The important thing is to comprehend them. It is urgent to comprehend the actions and reactions of the human machine. Each one of these five inferior centers has a set of very complicated actions and reactions. The “I” works with each of these five inferior centers, and comprehending deeply the whole mechanism of each of these centers, we are on the way to dissolving the “I”. In everyday life two people react differently to the same event. What is agreeable for one person can be disagreeable for another. Many times the difference is that one person can judge and see with the mind, and the other’s emotions are touched. We should learn to differentiate between mind and emotion. The mind is one thing and emotion, another. In the mind there is a whole set of actions and reactions that must be comprehended. In the feelings there are attachments that should be crucified, emotions that should be carefully studied and in general a whole mechanism of actions and reactions that are easily confused with the activities of the mind.

IVFrom home to work, and from work to home

Mechanical life. The train on its fixed tracks, the same streets, the same words, from home to work and from work to home, until the repetition itself is what a life is.

A practice

We need to discover ourselves and to profoundly comprehend all our habits we should not allow our life to continue to unfold mechanically. It seems incredible that we, living within the forms of our habits do not know these forms, which condition our lives. We need to study our habits. We need to comprehend them. These belong to the activities of the centre of movement. It is necessary that we self-observe the way we live, act, dress, walk etc. The centre of movement has many activities. Sport also belongs to the centre of movement. When the mind interferes with this centre it obstructs and causes damage, because it is very slow and the centre of movement is very fast. All typists work with the centre of movement and, as is natural may make mistakes at the keyboard if the mind begins to intervene. A man driving a car could have an accident if the mind intervenes. THE EMOTIONAL CENTRE The human being stupidly wastes the sexual energy with the abuse of violent emotions; cinema, television, football games etc. We should learn to dominate our emotions. It is necessary to save our sexual energies.

The Perfect Matrimony, 1950 (ed. 1966) also in Anger, Identification

It is useless to fill our heads with intellectual information if upon leaving school we do not know how to think, and continue like living machines, repeating the same roles and routines as our parents, grandparents and great grandparents.

Fundamental Education, 1970

Always repeating the same things, living life like machines, from home to work, and from work to home, marrying and becoming little baby-making machines is not living. If that is what we study for, if that is why we go to school, college and university for ten or fifteen years, we would be better off not studying at all.

Fundamental Education, 1970

It is urgent to end the mechanicity of words. It is necessary to speak with precision, in a conscious and opportune manner. We need to be conscious of the verb.

Esoteric Treatise of Hermetic Astrology, 1967

Within this Valley of Bitterness there exist Human-Machines with absolute repetition. They are one hundred percent Mechanical. These are people who repeat even the most insignificant details from their previous lives.

The Solar Bodies, 1968

We must long for a real change; we must get out of this boring routine, out of this purely mechanical and wearied life.

Treatise of Revolutionary Psychology, 1975

Unfortunately, we live daily a mechanical, routine and absurd life. We repeat occurrences; our habits are the same; we never want to modify them. They are the mechanical tracks on which circulates the train of our miserable existence. Nevertheless, we think the best of ourselves.

Treatise of Revolutionary Psychology, 1975

“Megalomaniacs” abound everywhere. Those who think themselves to be Gods, nonetheless, are mechanical routine creatures, people from the mud of the earth, wretched dolls moved by diverse “I’s.” People like this will never work upon themselves.

Treatise of Revolutionary Psychology, 1975

Our life seems like a train in motion, moving upon the fixed tracks of the mechanical and rigid habits of a vain and superficial existence.

Treatise of Revolutionary Psychology, 1975

We are mechanical people this mechanicity is more than enough motive to deprive us of any true sensibility in regard to what we are doing in life.

Treatise of Revolutionary Psychology, 1975

The common and current acts of mankind are always either the result of the Law of Recurrence or the mere product of mechanical accidents.

Treatise of Revolutionary Psychology, 1975

The different pleasant or unpleasant events exist with us or without us, and continuously are mechanically repeated.

The Great Rebellion, 1975

Life is a wheel that turns mechanically with all the pleasant and unpleasant circumstances; it is always recurrent.

The Great Rebellion, 1975

We cannot halt the wheel, good and bad circumstances are always processed mechanically; we can only change our attitude to life's events.

The Great Rebellion, 1975

The "I" which at the age of twenty-five fought another man in the pub or in the bar, will wait in the new existence until the new age of twenty-five to seek his opponent and repeat the tragedy. The "I"s of both fellows seek one another by means of telepathic waves and then rendezvous again with each other to mechanically repeat the same.

The Great Rebellion, 1975

We must discover ourselves and thoroughly comprehend our habits. We must not allow our lives to continue to unfold mechanically. It seems incredible that we, living inside of the moulds of our habits, are not aware of these moulds that condition our lives. We need to study our habits. We need to understand our habits. We need to self-observe our manner of speaking, dressing, walking, etc., etc.

Esoteric Course of Kabbalah

So, that false personality acts in a mechanical way. For every question it always has a mechanical answer; it lives according to its habits, its concepts, its opinions, its inferior emotions, its instincts, its animal impulses, etc. The activities of our human personality are unconscious, mechanical. Our personality knows nothing about what true Consciousness is, we ignore it.

The Fifth Gospel The Wonders of Awakened Consciousness Public Lecture – 1975

Our life is completely mechanical; it works, yes, but mechanically due to the law of associations. It is something similar to that of driving a car: one is driving one’s vehicle on the streets of the city and all the movement of the machine is being carried out automatically. One complies with moving such or such levers and the apparatus works, moves; we travel thousands of kilometers without realizing absolutely anything about how the different parts of the machine work.

The Fifth Gospel The Wonders of Awakened Consciousness Public Lecture – 1975

And if at the age of twenty-five we had a love affair, at that same age as well the “I” that was there, waiting deep down, will come up to the surface, will control the intellect, will control the heart and will go looking for the beloved one of his dreams. She will do the same and both will meet again to repeat the affair. So, the human robot is programmed by the Law of Recurrence.

The Fifth Gospel Gnostic Psychology of False Feelings Third Chamber – Mexico City – May 4. 1977

As we are, we are nothing but programmed robots. Those undigested impressions were deposited in our three brains and those impressions are repeated from instant to instant, from moment to moment, throughout the entire life. That is the mechanics of the Law of Recurrence: pure repetition of old impressions.

Beforehand, it will have made telepathic contact with that lady’s Ego; possibly, they will even have set up a meeting in any place –perhaps in a city park or at a party–. And it is obvious that afterward comes the reunion. But what is interesting is to see how this submerged Ego can pull the intellect, move the emotional and motor centers of the machine and take the machine, precisely, to the place where it has to meet the lady of its dreams. Undoubtedly, the same process will materialize in her and the scene will repeat again just as it happened.

Master: Undoubtedly, faith is not something that can become a habit, no! After all, we have to study our habits, they belong to the motor center or center of movement. They are usually one hundred percent mechanical. If one wants to become conscious of the activities of the motor center, one must study his habits. And it is necessary to study them in order to know them better, because we have many habits that we ourselves do not know.

The Fifth Gospel The Power of Conscious Faith Second Chamber – Mexico City – 1977

Since childhood many absurd things have been taught to us; a false Consciousness has been formed in us. At school, we were made to learn by memory many theories that have been of no use to us. The family taught us many customs, we acquired many habits, and with all of that we really formed a false, mechanical Consciousness, which knows nothing of what is real or of truth. Subjective reasoning is based on the perceptions of the external senses, and nothing more; it cannot, therefore, lead us to what is real.

VWe are slaves of mechanics

The machine reacts. Anyone can press its buttons and it answers: the mechanical sympathy and antipathy, the pendulum swinging from one side to the other, the association that drags one thought after another.

There are two types of mechanical association which are the foundation of the opposites: a) Mechanical association by means of ideas, words, phrases, etc; b) Mechanical association by images, forms, things, persons, etc.

The mechanical antipathy towards another person that we meet for the first time indicates that we do not know how to put ourselves in the place of our fellow men. This indicates that we do not love our fellow men, that we have our consciousness extremely asleep. Do we feel antipathy towards a certain person? Why? Perhaps he drinks? Let us observe him... Are we certain of our virtue? Are we certain of not carrying the “I” of drunkenness within our interior?

Treatise of Revolutionary Psychology, 1975 also in Gluttony, Hatred

One finds out in observation that numerous characteristic reactions exist which are produced by the impressions which reach us. These mechanical reactions, unfortunately, govern us. It is clear that each person in life is governed by life itself, it does not matter if he calls himself liberal or conservative, revolutionary or Bolshevik, good or bad in the sense of the word.

The Revolution of the Dialectic also in The Transformation of Impressions

It is obvious that these reactions before the impacts of the exterior world constitute our own life. In this sense, we can say in an emphatic mariner, that humanity is completely mechanical.

The Revolution of the Dialectic

In our way of seeing things, we can assure, in an emphatic way, that the Law of Pendulum is one hundred percent mechanistic. We have that Law of Pendulum in our mind, in our heart and also in the motor-instinctive-sexual center. It is obvious that in each center there is the Law of Pendulum.

The Fifth Gospel The Pendular Conduct of Humanity Third Chamber Mexico City July 13th, 1977

Conclusion: we are slaves of mechanics. If somebody gives us a pat on the back, we smile calmly; if somebody gives us a slap, we respond with another; if somebody tells us a word of praise, we feel happy; but if somebody hurts us with an aggressive word, we feel terribly offended. In short, we are small machines subject to the Law of Pendulum; anyone can do with us as they please.

Tao is the esoteric-Gnostic work, Tao is the Secret Path, Tao is INRI, Tao is the Being. So I have no reason to condemn him, as I carry the same thing as him. If I also carry within me “I’s” of insult, then I have no reason to condemn him. Besides, what is it that got hurt in me? Master: Mechanical antipathies are very damaging to humanity. First of all, if one wants to put an end to mechanical antipathies, to understand to what these mechanical antipathies consist of, what their foundation is –that, for example, someone is unpleasant to us just like that– , then we have to know how to eliminate that.

The Fifth Gospel The Reason of Being of Objective Justice Lecture – Interview – Mexico City – 1975

First and foremost, one has to take care of the five cylinders of the organic machine. It may be that we like someone intellectually and on the contrary, we do not like them in the emotional center. Or it may be that we really like someone in the emotional center and in the motor center we find him very terrible. One has to be careful to see which of the mechanical centers reacts badly to this or that person. One has to observe carefully, and if one discovers it, then proceeds to remove the mechanical antipathy, after becoming conscious of it.

Once we are conscious, we discover the error, and when we discover the error, we proceed to eliminate it. How? Interposing our Consciousness between the impression and the reaction. If the Consciousness takes over the impression, it prevents the reaction from acting mechanically, as always, creating antipathy. After a number of events in which we interpose our Consciousness between the impression and the reaction, the antipathy disappears. We can then simply see in that person the qualities that we had not seen before, we begin to feel sympathy toward that person.

The Fifth Gospel The Reason of Being of Objective Justice Lecture – Interview – Mexico City – 1975 also in Hatred, The Transformation of Impressions

Nowadays, unfortunately, we act and react incessantly like animals: if they hit us, we hit; if they curse us, we curse; if they hate us, we hate. Moreover, we are accustomed to identifying with facts and events that mechanically occur around us. We identify ourselves with others’ wrong actions and react where we should not stick our noses; and this is serious. And, unfortunately, we have not understood the necessity to further individualize our minds.

Behold, that is what mechanical antipathy is: one hundred percent absurd.

We need to learn to live politically. The human being, above all, is a political entity, a political animal, and man himself is a political man. If one does not know how to live politically, one creates problems for oneself in life. One has to learn to live politically, and instead of feeling mechanical antipathies, it is worth investigating ourselves.

The Fifth Gospel The False World of Appearances Third Chamber – Mexico City – 1976

When we contemplate the various events of life, when we see this order of things, we can see clearly for ourselves that people are true machines that do not know how to live: if someone insults them, they react furiously; if someone greets them, they smile joyfully. It is very easy for any evil person to play with the human machines: he can make them go from sadness to joy, and vice versa, just by telling them a few words.

However, if we do not really learn to give up mechanical antipathies, if we are always full of ill will toward our fellow men, with what energies would we then create the body of conscious will, that is, the fourth psychological body?

The Fifth Gospel The Power of Intuition of the Psychological Man Third Chamber – Mexico City – June 22, 1977 also in Hatred

If we do not learn to transform impressions, simply, we become victims of our fellow men. It is sad to see how people do what other people want them to do: if they hit us, we hit back; if they flatter us, we smile; if they insult us, we insult. We are, truly, machines driven by external impulses; and we are like that because we have not learned to transform the impressions.

The Fifth Gospel The New Generations Facing Gnosis Message directed to the Gnostic youth – Mexico City also in The Transformation of Impressions

When one learns to transform the impressions, he stops being a machine; he does what flows out from inside him, he does not let himself be moved by external forces; he acquires true individuality.

Do they want to see us happy? Give us a few pats on the shoulder and we are happy. But if that someone feels like seeing us sad, he tells us a few harsh words, hurts our self-love and we immediately make a long face. That is, we are not the owners of ourselves, we are mere puppets moved by everyone, victims of all our fellow men. Why? Because we have not learned to transform impressions. One has “to learn to receive with pleasure the unpleasant manifestations of our fellow men”. Therein lies the ultimate key for the transformation of impressions.

Part Three — The machine in nature's service

15 passages

IEvery human being is a little machine meant to transform energies

What the machine is for. It picks up cosmic energies, transforms them without knowing it, and passes them on to the interior of the Earth. Nature needs it exactly as it is.

This very high commission could verify to satiety that the Edenic human being already started to suspect the motive of his creation. The Lemurian Root Race had started to guess the true motives of its own existence: a miserable existence, with only mechanical motives.

Christmas Messages, 1952–66

Each human being is a little machine who captures and transforms cosmic energies. Then he unconsciously adapts these energies into the interior layers of the earth. Thus, we are human machines, nothing else. What would this world be without the human machines? Without this seal, without this physiognomy which is supplied by this humanity, the planet would be without a purpose. Thus, everything which is without purpose ceases to exist.

Christmas Messages, 1952–66

Humanity as a whole is an organ from nature. This organ collects and assimilates cosmic energies, which are necessary for the development of this planetary organism. Disgracefully, to be a machine is not very pleasant, yet, it is what the so-called human being is: he is a machine; that is what he is; yes, that, and nothing else.

Christmas Messages, 1952–66

The entire evolution of Protoplasm has the creation of these intellectual machines as the objective.

Esoteric Treatise of Hermetic Astrology, 1967

Intellectual machines have the power of picking up the cosmic energies of infinite space to unconsciously transform them and then automatically transmit them to the interior layers of the earth.

Esoteric Treatise of Hermetic Astrology, 1967

In times which become lost in the profound night of all ages, the poor Intellectual Animal comprehended his sad situation of being a little machine which is necessary for nature’s economy and wished to die; the intervention of certain sacred individuals who committed the error of giving this unfortunate human swarm the abominable Kundartiguador organ, was then necessary.

Esoteric Treatise of Hermetic Astrology, 1967

The intellectual animal (mistakenly called a Human Being) is a machine that is necessary for the economy of Nature.

The Solar Bodies, 1968

The human machine automatically receives and transforms certain Cosmic Rays that later are unconsciously transmitted into the interior layers of the Earth.

The Solar Bodies, 1968

During the epoch of the continent of Mu or Lemuria, located as we have said in past talks, in the Pacific Ocean, it was necessary to develop such an organ with the purpose of stabilizing the geological crust of the Earth. As the human machine automatically transforms cosmic energies to retransmit them to the superior layers of the planetary organism in which we live, any change that occurs in such machines originates determined results in the interior of our planet Earth.

Yes, There Is a Hell, a Devil and Karma, 1973

That class of beings captures certain types of cosmic waves which they instinctively transform and retransmit to the inner layers of the planetary organism on which we live.

The Fifth Gospel Lunar Psychism and Solar Psychism Second Chamber – Mexico City – 1976

Thus, we have to know that every human being is a little machine meant to transform energies. That is what he lives for, that is what he exists for under the sunlight; he is completely mechanical and is regulated by the Moon.

The Fifth Gospel Lunar Psychism and Solar Psychism Second Chamber – Mexico City – 1976

If those cosmic forces which come from the worlds did not go through transformation channels, they would not fulfill their mission in the interior of planet Earth. Obviously, their role would be useless. It is necessary for the cosmic waves that come from all the planets of our solar system of Ors to enter, to go to the interior of the Earth through their respective channels. There are channels in plants, there are channels in animals. There is no doubt that the main channels are in the human machines, that is what they exist for.

The Fifth Gospel Lunar Psychism and Solar Psychism Second Chamber – Mexico City – 1976

So we are not the most important ones in reality and in truth. We are some little machines –and that is all– at the service of Nature. That we have to return, come back, reincorporate, that is a fact!

The Fifth Gospel Lunar Psychism and Solar Psychism Second Chamber – Mexico City – 1976

And the type of energy modified could, collectively, give stability to the geological cortex of our world, because human machines retransmit to the inner layers of the Earth the types of energy which they transform. The energy transformed in this way could give stability to the geological cortex of our world.

The Fifth Gospel Practical Solutions Against Collective Hypnotism Third Chamber – Mexico City – 1976

Thus, it is advisable that those who listen to this cassette reflect clearly. Those who do not have objective reason are exclusively automatic machines in charge of assimilating, transforming and retransmitting the planetary energies to the inner layers of the Earth. However, those who already possess objective reason, escape from this law, they become in fact Sacred Individuals.

The Fifth Gospel The Objective Reason of the Solar Man

14 passages

IIMillions of asleep machines... against millions of asleep machines

When the waves from the cosmos arrive, the machines go to war. Millions of sleeping machines against millions of sleeping machines, and every side believes it is fighting for a reason.

War is something excessively crude, monstrous and abominable. Millions of foolish, unconscious, sleeping human machines launch themselves into war with the purpose of destroying so many millions of other unconscious human machines.

Fundamental Education, 1970

Human machines are not conscious of anything; they act destructively whenever a certain type of cosmic wave or vibration secretly drives them.

Fundamental Education, 1970

The intellectual Animal erroneously called Man, is a compound of Body, Ego (I), Organs and functions. It is a machine moved by the Deities or, we should better say, the Planets.

Esoteric Treatise of Hermetic Astrology, 1967

Many times, any cosmic catastrophe is enough for the waves that reach the Earth to launch those asleep human machines to the battlefields. Millions of asleep machines... against millions of asleep machines.

Esoteric Treatise of Hermetic Astrology, 1967 also in Awakening

The Human Machine (as any other machine) moves under the impulses of the subtle forces of Nature.

The Solar Bodies, 1968

The secret agents that move the Human Machines are first the Cosmic Radiations and second the Pluralized “I”

The Solar Bodies, 1968

The influence of any given adverse planetary conjunction (any ominous quadrature of planets or any given tension produced by the exaggerated approach of two planets) is enough in order for millions of human machines to toss themselves into war. Obviously, such a war would be justified by many reasons, mottos, flags that must be defended, motives for which it would be imperative to fight, etc.

The Solar Bodies, 1968

Today, like yesterday, the poor human biped is nothing more than a mechanical toy moved by forces it ignores.

The Revolution of the Dialectic

Any cosmic event, any sidereal catastrophe, produces waves of a certain type that upon being picked up by the unhappy animal called man, become world wars. Millions of human machines who unconsciously launch themselves to the stupid task of destroying so many other millions of human machines.

The Revolution of the Dialectic

The great thinkers, the prostitutes of the intelligence, known in the world as journalists, ignore that these wars are the result of certain cosmic waves in action and that the armies in the battlefield move like automatic puppets under the dynamic impulse of those unknown forces.

The Revolution of the Dialectic

The human body is a machine, and we all look like machines. What is war, what are wars for? Many times, in the cosmos there is a catastrophe: one world collides with another, or a comet falls on a sun, etc., that is, any cosmic phenomenon is enough for certain types of vibrations to reach the planet Earth. Human machines capture those vibrations and then they launch themselves into war; millions of sleeping machines against millions of sleeping machines on the battlefields.

The Fifth Gospel Analysis of the Human Psyche Public Lecture – 1977

On the flags, wonderful slogans shine; each one justifies war in their own way, those poor human machines do not realize that they have been victims of the vibration coming from some planet in space, perhaps a clash of masses or any other cosmic event. Millions of sleeping, unconscious humans, living in a painful world, torment each other miserably, react incessantly and suffer bitterly.

The Fifth Gospel Analysis of the Human Psyche Public Lecture – 1977

And what shall we say about the “Solioonensius”? It happens that sometimes the Baleaooto sun approaches our Solar System. When that happens, our Solar System reacts tremendously: it puts into action a great electric force, an extremely high voltage, and the whole Earth, so to speak, receives a voltage of extraordinary forces. As a sequence or corollary, the unconscious human machines, without knowing what to do, without feeling moral responsibility of any kind, throw themselves into great revolutions.

The Fifth Gospel The Precariousness of the Human Psyche lst International Meeting of Hermetic Culture – Guadalajara. Jalisco, Mexico – October 28. 1975

Now you will be able to explain by yourselves the causes of wars, etc. Many times, a cosmic catastrophe is enough for terrifying waves to get here; they touch the brains of the organic machines called “men” –mistakenly– and these, which are abnormal, launch themselves into war. If they were sane, they would not do it; but they are abnormal, they hoist different emblems, they justify their battles in this or that way, they think they are sane, but, in reality and in truth, they do all this because they are abnormal. A bad planetary conjunction is enough to provoke a war: millions of humanoid beings against millions of humanoids.

IIIThe Moon is like the weight of the pendulum of a clock

The Moon moves the mechanical man as the weight moves a clock. Organic life on Earth is regulated by it, and the whole of that mechanicity is lunar.

Medics know very well that the organism of this Wretched Intellectual Animal is constituted by a defined number of elements. Thus, they know that the dense weight of Iodine needs to be below in order to balance the active principle of Hydrogen which is located above. Since the Moon regulates and administers solar energy, it acts as a mechanical commander for the Earth.

The Solar Bodies, 1968

Indeed, the Moon is like the weight of the pendulum of a clock. The mechanism of the clock is the organic life on Planet Earth. The whole mechanism enters into movement thanks to the oscillation of the weight (the Moon).

The Solar Bodies, 1968

The wretched intellectual biped (mistakenly called a human being) fatally carries the Moon within himself he carries it in his Ego and in his Protoplasmic Lunar Bodies. The entire Mechanization of the Earth is governed by the Moon and disgracefully the Rational Animal is nothing more than a machine.

The Solar Bodies, 1968

Only through the Revolution of the Consciousness is it possible to become absolutely liberated from this Lunar Mechanization.

The Solar Bodies, 1968

There is a grave problem: the Moon tends towards materialism, all terrestrial mechanicity is controlled by the Moon. All life on Earth, the whole terrestrial mechanism is controlled by the Moon. The whole of that me chanical life which we live is of a lunar type.

Tarot and Kabbalah, 1978

The moon is terribly mechanistic; the lunar humanoid completely devoid of any solar restlessness, is incoherent and moves in the world of his own dreams.

The Great Rebellion, 1975

The psychological robot is influenced by the laws of the Moon: Recurrence, conception, death, hatred, egoism, violence, conceit, haughtiness, self-importance, immoderate covetousness, etc.

The Revolution of the Dialectic

For all these reasons, we are seeing that humanity is completely lunar. And if we observe the pendulum of a clock, we see that it is one hundred percent mechanical and that it governs the entire mechanics of the clock. Likewise the Moon, which is the pendulum of this planet Earth, mechanically governs the entire planet and governs us. So human beings, the entire humanity, is one hundred percent lunar.

The Fifth Gospel Lunar Psychism and Solar Psychism Second Chamber – Mexico City – 1976

All of us, together with all the creatures that live on the surface of the Earth and which constitute the organic world, are the machinery of this great organism called Earth. The pendulum that makes this complicated organism move is the Moon. Humanity, assuming that principle, is completely mechanistic and each day it becomes more and more mechanistic, that is obvious. It is necessary to create a psychological moon within ourselves. Only like that could we stop being mechanistic.

The Fifth Gospel Lunar Psychism and Solar Psychism Second Chamber – Mexico City – 1976

So, what we need first is to create a psychological moon if we want to become independent from that pale Moon which revolves around the Earth, which sucks our energies, which has turned us into mechanical creatures. All human beings are lunar and they move in the psychological atmosphere of the Moon. That is sad, but true.

IVThe Laws of Evolution and Involution are the mechanical axis of nature

Evolution and involution are two mechanical laws that turn together. Everything that goes up comes down again; they are the axis of the wheel, not a way out of it.

Certainly, evolution, and her twin sister involution, are two mechanical laws that are processed simultaneously in all creation. These two laws exist and all the mechanics of nature are based on them. Denying these two laws would be the height of absurdity. However, not only beneficial things are attributed to these two laws.

Christmas Messages, 1952–66

Everyone is free to say whatever they want and to defend their theories, but what no one can deny, painful as it is, is the terrible reality of our sinfulness. The body of evidence speaks, duly proved by the defendant, for we are talking about hydrogen bombs, atomic bombs, war, prostitution, greed, hatred, perversion of morality, and so on. What more evidence against spiritual evolutionary dogma could its followers want? The laws of evolution and involution are the backbone of nature but not the Path of self-realisation. Many species are the result of evolution and many other species are in the processes of involution, that is all.

Christmas Messages, 1952–66

We, the Gnostics have never denied the Law of Evolution, but we do not accept such a mechanical law as dogma.

The Perfect Matrimony, 1950 (ed. 1966)

The Laws of Evolution and Involution are the mechanical axis of nature. For every ascent there follows a descent; to all evolution there corresponds a specific involution. There is evolution in the seed that germinates, and in the shoot which grows and develops, and in the plant that bears fruit. There is involution in the tree that no longer grows, withers away, becomes old and dies.

The Perfect Matrimony, 1950 (ed. 1966)

The laws of evolution and involution are the mechanical axis of all of nature, and they have nothing to do with the intimate self-realization of the Being.

Fundamental Education, 1970

Evolution and Involution constitute the mechanical axis of Nature.

Esoteric Treatise of Hermetic Astrology, 1967

It is evident that both the afore-mentioned Laws constitute the fundamental mechanical axis of Nature.

The Mystery of the Golden Blossom, 1971

Certainly, the laws of evolution and of involution work in a harmonious and coordinated manner in all of nature.

Yes, There Is a Hell, a Devil and Karma, 1973

It is indubitable that every rise is followed by a fall, every ascent by a descent; it would be absurd, therefore, to suppose that the law of evolution was something different. If we ascend a mountain, we will undoubtedly arrive at the peak; afterwards we would need to descend. This is how the law of evolution and involution is, my dear brothers. These two great laws constitute the mechanical axis of all nature; if any of these two laws was to functioning for just a moment, all natural mechanisms would in fact become paralyzed. There is evolution in the grain that germinates, grows and develops; involution exists in the plant that withers and dies.

Yes, There Is a Hell, a Devil and Karma, 1973

Many people think that we could arrive at happiness through the mechanics of evolution. This is a false concept, since mechanics are mechanical. The Law of Evolution, and also that of Involution constitute the mechanical axis of this machinery called Nature. There is evolution in the seed which germinates, in the plant that develops and at last gives fruit. There is involution in the plant that enters into decrepitude and finally becomes a pile of wood. There is evolution in the child who begins to take shape in the maternal womb, in the creature that is born, grows, develops, and lives by the light of the sun. But, involution also exists in the human being who grows old, diminishes, enters into decrepitude, and finally dies. That is completely mechanical.

For the Few, 1980

Any mechanical evolution is processed in accordance with the Laws of Cause and Effect, the Laws of Associations, of Mutual Combinations, etc. That which is mechanical, is mechanical.

For the Few, 1980

Many think that we could reach happiness through the mechanics of evolution. This is a false concept because mechanics are mechanics. The law of evolution and also that of involution, constitutes the mechanical axis of this machinery which is called Nature.

The Fifth Gospel Psychoemotional Metamorphosis of Man Third Chamber – Mexico City – July 27, 1977

16 passages

VIt is not possible for the true human being to appear through evolving mechanics

So the machine will not evolve into a man. No liberation and no self-realisation come by mechanical evolution, however long it runs. He calls the belief that they do a dogma.

The intellectual animal, falsely called man, is only an embryo with the possibility of developing. This embryo can develop or be definitively lost. It is not a law that these possibilities unfold: what is normal is that they are definitively lost. The Law of Evolution and its twin sister, the Law of Involution or retrocession, are purely mechanical laws that have nothing to do with the intimate self realisation. Whoever wants to self realise in depth needs the revolution of the consciousness. When we dissolve the ‘I’, there is revolution of the consciousness. When we create the four bodies, there is Supreme Christmas Message 1963-1964 revolution of the consciousness. When we incarnate our divine triad, there is revolution of the consciousness.

Christmas Messages, 1952–66

Know that evolution and its twin sister, involution, are only mechanical laws which cannot self-realise anybody, because self-realisation cannot be the result of mechanics. Be gentle and humble in thought, word and deed, but when it comes to the Truth, be strong in thought, word, and deed.

Christmas Messages, 1952–66

The poor intellectual animal, falsely called man, can develop all of his hidden possibilities if he so wishes, but the development of all these possibilities is truly not a law. The law for the manmachine is to be born, to grow, to reproduce, and to die within the vicious circle of the mechanical laws of nature.

Christmas Messages, 1952–66

The mechanical evolution of the intellectual animal, mistakenly called man, is necessary for nature up to a certain well defined point. Beyond this point, the mechanical evolution of the human biped becomes not only unnecessary for nature, but is also harmful to it. The evolutive and involutive processes of humanity correspond to the periods of evolution and involution of the planets in outer space.

Christmas Messages, 1952–66

We do not reach these heights by means of the mechanical evolution of nature. Evolution is the movement of universal life, but this does not take anyone to the Angelic state. Nature is not interested in the Superman. Nature contains all the possibilities but the Superman is even contrary to her vested interests. The most terrible forces of nature oppose the birth of the Superman. The Angel, the Superman, is the result of a tremendous revolution of consciousness. Nobody is obliged to help the individual in this revolution. This is a very intimate question for each one. The problem is absolutely sexual. The sword must be drawn and we must fight the terrible forces of nature that oppose the birth of the Superman.

The Perfect Matrimony, 1950 (ed. 1966)

Nobody can deny the creative and destructive processes, evolution ary and involutionary, generative and degenerative. What occurs is that things are attributed to the mechanical force of evolution that it does not have. Neither evolution nor involution can liberate any one. This idea that with evolution all will achieve liberation, the goal, is a fantasy of deluded people. Jesus the Christ spoke clearly and never promised salvation to everyone. The Great Master emphasises the tremendous and terrible difficulty implied by the strug gle to enter the Sanctum Regnum, the Kingdom of magic and esotericism.

The Perfect Matrimony, 1950 (ed. 1966)

The Inner Self-Realization of man can never be the product of any mechanical law, but rather the result of a conscious work carried out upon and within oneself, on the basis of tremendous super-efforts, in-depth comprehension and intentional voluntary sufferings. Everything returns to the point of departure and the Lunar Ego returns after death to a new womb.

Esoteric Treatise of Hermetic Astrology, 1967 also in Laziness

The one who truly wants to come out of the intellectual animal state, the one who truly and sincerely wants to become a True Man, should free himself from the mechanical laws of Nature.

Esoteric Treatise of Hermetic Astrology, 1967

Everything that exists in creation evolves until a certain point perfectly defined by Nature. Thereafter, it devolves until returning to the point of original departure. Therefore, no single living being can Self-Realize or attain Liberation through the Mechanical Law of Evolution.

The Solar Bodies, 1968

Only on the path (based on the tremendous Intimate Super-Efforts in ourselves and within ourselves) is the development of the all marvelous occult possibilities of the human being possible. The development of these possibilities has never been a Law. Undoubtedly, we can and must emphatically affirm that the Law for the Unhappy Intellectual Beast (before being swallowed up by the Mineral Kingdom) is that he has to miserably exist within the vicious circle of the Mechanical Laws of Nature.

The Solar Bodies, 1968

Upon submerging ourselves within Laws which are more and more complex, we obviously progressively make ourselves more and more inde pendent of the Will of the Absolute and we fall into the mechanical complication of this great Nature. If we wish to reconquer freedom, we must free ourselves of such mechanicity and such Laws and return to the Father.

Tarot and Kabbalah, 1978

It is not possible for the true human being to appear through evolving mechanics. We know very well that evolution and its twin sister devolution are nothing else but two laws which constitute the mechanical axis of all Nature. One evolves to a certain perfectly defined point, and then the devolving process follows. Every ascent is followed by a descent and vice versa.

Treatise of Revolutionary Psychology, 1975

We need to free ourselves precisely from the Law of Karma. We need to free ourselves from this mechanical movement of Nature. We need to make ourselves free, and that will not be possible by means of mechanical evolution.

For the Few, 1980

Evolution and involution are two laws which are simultaneously processed in all of creation, they constitute the mechanical axis of nature but they will never lead us to liberation.

The Revolution of the Dialectic

Obviously, if one does not fight against life, the latter devours him, and true aspirants who do not allow themselves to be swallowed by life are rare. If we do not work on ourselves, we involute and degenerate, because it is not possible for the true man to arise by means of the mechanical evolutionary law, as this law has its counterpart, which is involution. One evolves up to a certain perfectly defined point, and then the involuting process comes; any ascent is followed by a descent and vice versa.

The Fifth Gospel The Balance of the Energetic Centers Conference given to Gnostic students

Now, if we base ourselves on the dogma of evolution, obviously, this dogma bottles us up, stagnates us, because it is not through the mechanical evolution of Nature that we are all going to reach to the final liberation, this is absurd! If mechanical evolution were to take us to Liberation, what need would we have to rack our brains to understand all these mysteries?

The Fifth Gospel Practical Solutions Against Collective Hypnotism Third Chamber – Mexico City – 1976

Part Four — To stop being a machine

11 passages · 1 practice

IIt is not convenient for Nature that someone stops being a machine

Try to stop being a machine and nature opposes you. She loses one of her transformers, and she has her forces for keeping it.

When a rebel rises with his weapons against nature, when he wants to stop being a machine, then, the tenebrous powers fight against him to death. The human beings who are capable of fighting the tenebrous forces, to fight against nature, against the cosmos, etc, are very rare. Commonly, these types of rebels capitulate. Many are called, yet few are chosen. Only a few individuals attain the victory against nature and achieve the right to sit on the Throne of Power in order to rule over it. The Lemurians had already suspected all of this. They understood with their instinct that human beings, after having offered their services as machines to this nature, were becoming perverse. Everywhere, within all of the corners of Lemuria, the entirety of this tragedy was instinctively suspected and becoming known to the objective reasoning of the Lemurians.

Christmas Messages, 1952–66

Neither mechanical nor obligatory Self-Realisation exists. The Intimate Self-Realisation of man is the result of conscious battle. Nature does not need the Intimate Self-Realisation of the human being; she does not want it; she detests it and fights against it with all her best weapons. Intimate Self-Realisation can only be an urgent necessity for the revolutionary man when he realises his horrible situation and the abominable fate that awaits him, which is that of being voraciously devoured by the Mineral Kingdom.

Christmas Messages, 1952–66

The revolution of the consciousness is only possible in the event of gaining, conquering our own latent possibilities, our own hidden treasures. If the entire human species were to want to obtain that which rightfully belongs to it, Intimate SelfRealisation would become impossible, because what is possible for the revolutionary individual is impossible for the masses. The advantage that the separate revolutionary has is that he is truly very little, and for the purposes of Great Nature, the existence of one less or one more machine has not the least importance. If one microscopic cell from our body revolts against us this has not the least importance, but if all the cells of our body revolt against us, then yes, the matter is grave and we go to the doctor to fight against this revolution with all the weapons of science. Exactly the same thing happens for the isolated individual, he is too small to influence all the life of the planetary organism on which we live, move, and have our Being.

Christmas Messages, 1952–66

Supreme Christmas Message 1965-1966: “The Science of Music” nature are tremendous liars, jokesters, and deceivers. Because there has never been and there will never be a mechanical SelfRealisation. Intimate Self-Realisation is the revolution of the consciousness, and the consciousness could never unconsciously revolutionize itself. The revolution of man is the revolution of his willpower, and so this could never be a mechanical, involuntary revolution. Intimate Self-Realisation is the result of supreme and voluntary self-efforts that are perfectly self-conscious. Intimate Self-Realisation demands tremendous individual super-efforts, and these are only possible through the revolution of the consciousness.

Christmas Messages, 1952–66

Through self-observation we should perceive the mechanism of the opposing force. Whenever we propose to carry out a special action, whether it be the annihilation of the ego, the dominion of sex, a special work or execute a definite program, we should observe and calculate the force of Resistance; because by nature, the world and its mechanics tends to provoke the resistance and such resistance is double.

The Revolution of the Dialectic

When one attempts to stop being a machine, when one no longer wants to be a machine, Nature opposes him. Nature has within us, within each one of us, elements, powers, forces that it mobilizes to fight against us.

The Fifth Gospel Lunar Psychism and Solar Psychism Second Chamber – Mexico City – 1976

And what happens is that it is not convenient for Nature that someone stops being a machine, that is an attack against its economy, and it has formidable powers at its disposal to bring to order those rebels who have risen up in arms. That is the harsh reality of the facts!

The Fifth Gospel Lunar Psychism and Solar Psychism Second Chamber – Mexico City – 1976

Thus, we do not expect in any way that you, who are listening to me, are going to stop being little machines just like that, overnight. I have been observing you carefully here. Obviously, you are here to listen to me, and I am here to speak to you, but I see light here during the conference how Nature works to try to bring you to order.

The Fifth Gospel Lunar Psychism and Solar Psychism Second Chamber – Mexico City – 1976

Some of you. upon listening to this conference, if you pay due attention to yourselves, you will see that you have felt boredom: some have yawned, some have wished by now that this conference be over, etc. Nature makes use of all that, those are the weapons which it uses to prevent anyone from ceasing to be a little machine.

The Fifth Gospel Lunar Psychism and Solar Psychism Second Chamber – Mexico City – 1976

You are machines. You may not like it, maybe you think that I am insulting you. No, you have my word that I am not insulting you; I apply what I am telling you to the entire humanity. You will stop being machines the day when you will rise up in arms against Nature, against the Cosmos, against yourselves, against everything and against everyone.

The Fifth Gospel Lunar Psychism and Solar Psychism Second Chamber – Mexico City – 1976

When that happens, well, the possibility that you stop being machines exists, if you do not succumb, because Nature will not let its guard down just like that; that is an attack against the economy of Nature, that is obvious.

IIWhen someone accepts that he is a machine, he begins to stop being one

Where it starts: accepting that one is a machine. Admitting one's mechanicity, observing it, comprehending it, and working on the 'I's that run it.

A practice

Whoever wants to truly stop being a simple mechanical puppet must eliminate each one of the entities which, as a whole, constitute the ego; one must eliminate each one of those entities that plays with the human machine.

Fundamental Education, 1970

A practice

Whoever truly wants to stop being a simple mechanical puppet must start by acknowledging and comprehending one’s own mechanicalness.

Fundamental Education, 1970

The one who does not want to understand or accept one’s own mechanicalness; the one who does not want to correctly understand this fact, can no longer change. He is an unfortunate and afflicted being; better it is for him to tie a millstone round his neck and hurl himself to the bottom of the sea.

Fundamental Education, 1970

A practice

First of all, it is urgent to begin by profoundly comprehending on all levels of the mind that we do not have true individuality, that we do not have a permanent center of consciousness, that at any particular moment we are one person and at another moment someone else. Everything depends on the entity controlling the situation at any given moment.

Fundamental Education, 1970

The poor intellectual animal will not be able to stop being a machine, will not be able to change, will not be able acquire a true individual Being and transform himself into a legitimate Man, as long as he does not have the courage to eliminate, through in-depth comprehension and in a successive order, each one of those metaphysical entities which, as a whole, constitute that which is called the ego, the “I”, the myself.

Why do we call the work of the transformation of impressions, the First Conscious Shock? Because the “shock” is something that we could not observe in a merely mechanical manner. This could never be done in a mechanical manner, one needs an auto-conscious effort. it is clear that when one begins to comprehend this work, one begins to cease being the mechanical man that serves the purposes of nature.

Unfortunately, nowadays, we are nothing but machines, machines and nothing more than that. The Fifth Gospel The Reality and Fantasy of our Psychology Public Lecture – 1976 also in Identification

It is clear that a Gnostic aspirant who begins to understand this kind of work, obviously, for that reason, begins to stop being a mechanical man who exclusively serves the purposes of nature, a creature absolutely asleep who is simply nothing more than an “employee” of nature, [useful] for its economic ends, which, actually, do not serve in any way the interests of our own Intimate Self-Realization.

IVWe need to create a new center of gravity

The centre of gravity. Where it sits now is mechanical, in the personality; it has to be made again, consciously, in the Essence.

One must have a Centre of Gravity, a Permanent Centre of Conscious ness. We are no more than machines controlled by our “I’s” (the ego is plural). We are in a disadvantageous position which means we need super-efforts, and need to kill the “I”. That “I” is Mephistopheles; is the root of all our suffering and pain; it lives according to its own conditioning. We must reduce it to cosmic dust in order to have awakened consciousness, in order to be able to see the Path.

Tarot and Kabbalah, 1978 also in Awakening, Laziness

A practice

One has to work with sexual super-dynamics in order to create a permanent center of gravity and to become independent of the Moon.

The Revolution of the Dialectic

The more the Ego disintegrates, the stronger the Consciousness will become, and in the end, a permanent center of gravity will be enthroned within ourselves, a center of authentic individuality that will completely free us from the actions and reactions of the outside world. But we need to create that permanent center of gravity in ourselves, and that is only possible by dissolving the Ego. Once created –I repeat– with that center of gravity, we will have individuality. But in this day and age, we are not individual people, we are machines controlled by others; everyone plays with us, we do not have authentic individuality.

The Fifth Gospel The Mind and Ethics of Resurrected Masters Third Chamber – Mexico City – December 31. 1975

Within us, nowadays, all that we have is a mechanical center of gravity; such center lies in the personality. Obviously, in our personality is what we were taught, the example of our elders and of the family, what we learned at school, in the street, at the restaurant, at the bar, etc. All that constitutes the personality, there we have our center of gravity.

The Fifth Gospel Lunar Psychism and Solar Psychism Second Chamber – Mexico City – 1976

A practice

We need to create a new center of gravity, not a mechanical one, but rather a conscious one. Is it possible to create it? Yes, it is possible! If we create it, we would go from a mechanical center of gravity to a conscious center of gravity. But one cannot go from a mechanical center of gravity to a conscious center of gravity just like that; one has to work on oneself.

The Fifth Gospel Lunar Psychism and Solar Psychism Second Chamber – Mexico City – 1976

A practice

First of all we must distinguish the personality from the false personality. The normal personality must exist, of course it has to, as it is the vehicle of manifestation that we have. But the false personality is something else. If we want to create a conscious center of gravity in us, then we have to eliminate first of all from ourselves the undesirable elements of conceit, pride, vanity, selfishness, self-love, jealousy, etc.

The Fifth Gospel Lunar Psychism and Solar Psychism Second Chamber – Mexico City – 1976

Only by eliminating these aforementioned psychological elements, can we then create in our intimate constitution –that is, in our inner Essence– a conscious center of gravity, a psychological moon. The psychological moon is the conscious center of gravity. Whoever manages to create inside himself a psychological moon, undoubtedly, will liberate himself from the mechanical influences of the Moon which revolves around the Earth.

The Fifth Gospel Lunar Psychism and Solar Psychism Second Chamber – Mexico City – 1976 also in The Words He Uses

Unlike the mechanical center of gravity, which is located in the personality, the conscious center of gravity truly ends up being located in the Essence, in the Consciousness, in the animic part. That is the difference.

The Fifth Gospel Lunar Psychism and Solar Psychism Second Chamber – Mexico City – 1976

If we manage to eliminate those heavy “I’s” of ninety-six laws which constitute the false personality, we will create a conscious center of gravity in the depths of the Essence; we will get out of the lunar mechanistic state and move to the conscious state.

However, the step from the mechanical center of gravity to the conscious center of gravity implies intentional works and voluntary sufferings upon ourselves, here and now. I am giving you the key for you to stop being machines, because at present you can be absolutely sure that you are machines.

It is urgent to establish a complete balance of the five centers of the machine and this is only possible by dissolving the ‘I’. Unexpectedly, they are skiing, running together, while others are dedicated to cultivating their body, activating the motor brain. In some other moment, we see them dedicated to art, or to music, or to sculpture, to dance, etc. As they keep the three brains in balance, this allows those Buddhist monks to live up to ages of 300 or 400 years. They do not exclusively use only one brain –let us remember that we are tri-cerebrated–. So, they are smart enough to manage alternatively the three brains of the organic machine.

The Fifth Gospel The Balance of the Energetic Centers Conference given to Gnostic students

The fourth level of man is different. On the fourth level of men, we find the perfect development and harmonious balance of all the centers. On the fourth level, we find perfect harmony and rhythmic agreement in the functionalism of the five centers of the machine. To reach the fourth level, one has to fully develop all the centers. No one could develop the five centers of the machine if he rejected all those activities that exist in the world.

The Fifth Gospel The Objective Reason of the Solar Man

A practice

So, the first man is the number one, the instinctive one; the second, the emotional one; the third is the intellectual one. Whoever wants to set his center of gravity in the intellect, will have to study, analyze, comprehend. And once we have developed these centers, we must balance them harmoniously.

How this was made. All fifty-two books were extracted — 73,105 paragraphs, 2,157,671 words — and swept on his vocabulary for the machine: machine, mechanical and mechanicity, the robot, the automaton and the puppet, the five cylinders of the machine, mechanical evolution, and phrase patterns for what he teaches without the word — that no one does anything, that everything happens. Each occurrence of the common words was kept or dropped by what stood beside it, so that the machine that is a machine — an engine, a bomb, a computer — stayed out. That returned 1,044 candidate paragraphs in 35 books. Every one was read twice, by independent readers working from a written brief and from the slice alone; the two passes agreed on whether to print 94.7% of the time and on the class 85.8%, and a third reader, who saw neither verdict, settled the 55 they did not. 354 were judged printable and 339 are printed here; the rest are recorded, with the reason each was set aside.

The largest rejection class is the one that was expected. 162 paragraphs were set aside as the machine named in passing — lust, an ego, the after-death, where mechanical is only an adjective on another subject — and 71 as the ordinary word. Beside them: 60 that belong to a finished work in the same words (Awakening, Identification, The Mind, the egos), 25 that belong to The Transformation of Impressions, built the same day, 12 of polemic, 9 of the law of recurrence as its own doctrine, and 5 lists.

The illusion of doing nearly went missing. The first sweep kept no one does anything only where a machine word stood beside it, and so lost the lecture that says it best. The gate was loosened on 24 September, 28 more paragraphs were read twice, and five of them stand in the sixth section.

The largest single body of it is spoken, not written. 141 of these passages come from the two Fifth Gospel volumes, across 40 named lectures, each cited by the name of the lecture with the place and the year where the volumes record them.

One mark that is not his was taken out. The Fifth Gospel editors set a symbol where a recording begins; it stood at the head of one passage here and was removed, and the record lists it. Otherwise the 339 passages stand exactly as the books have them, and the only thing done to any of them is the line-end break: the two Fifth Gospel volumes are set in two narrow columns and the compositor splits a word at the end of a line — 242 broken words, 233 closed up and 9 keeping their hyphen — and which is which was decided against the corpus rather than by guess.

No sentence of his is cut in half. The scanner breaks his sentences across paragraphs; each range was extended against the corpus until his sentence closed, a passage that turned out to be the second half of the one before it was absorbed into it, and 84 ranges run over more than one paragraph. Two edges stay open because the source does: a lecture in the Fifth Gospel where the tape failed, and a sentence of The Perfect Matrimony whose end the scan does not carry.

1 paragraph was cut for standing twice. Dissolving the I reprints the Christmas Messages in a second translation; where the same sentences stand twice inside one section, the original is kept and the reprint cut. Across sections, and where he restates himself in other words, his repetition is his own and stands.

55 passages also stand in a finished work, and every one is marked where it stands — most of them Awakening, Identification and The Mind, and the ego works, because the machine is where the sleep, the identification and the egos happen. An overlap is allowed wherever it is needed to get the teaching across; what is not allowed is an overlap a reader cannot see.

Checked five ways. Every reader's note was proved to sit on the passage as it is actually printed. Every printed pair was compared as sequences, and the restatements that survived were read against both sources by eye. Every ragged edge was repaired or named. Every one of the 67 passages marked a practice was proved to carry its own instruction. And no passage stands on this page in the wrong language.
