Every dated thing in the books of Samael Aun Weor, set out as a calendar that does not expire — the twelve gates of the zodiac and the practice each one asks for, the fixed feasts, the seven days and their regents, and the rules of the moon. Gathered from the Zodiacal Course, Occult Medicine and Practical Magic, Aztec Christic Magic, the Book of the Virgin of Carmel, the Runic Magic course, the Christmas Messages and the rest.
Samael never calls these four days solstices or equinoxes. He marks them only as the doors of four signs — and one of them, the 21st of March, is the day he tells you to begin. The word solstice does reach his page three times, but only inside a quotation from the Gita; see the two roads, below.
21 March
The head. The year turns here, and the Runes are begun on this day.
22 June
The stomach, and the Moon’s own sign — the month for preparing the body for practical magic.
23 September
The kidneys, and the law of equilibrium — the scale of nature.
22 December
The knees. Christmas falls two days later, inside this sign.
The dates, the rulerships and every attribute below are the chapter headings of the Zodiacal Course, transcribed as they stand. The practice under each is the one that chapter teaches.

Days that fall on the same date every year, and the movable feasts of Holy Week that Samael attaches work to.
Night of 1 January
Collect in the night of the first of January twelve dry lumps of rocky salt. These must be separated into two groups of six. One month of the year has to be assigned to each lump. Then, the following day the lumps must be observed: the dry ones will be the ones for summer and the humid ones will be the ones for winter.Occult Medicine and Practical Magic (1955, ed. 1978)
Samael calls this the tradition of the Cabañuelas, and says it is already forgotten and disfigured.
4 February
The Age of Aquarius begins February 4th of 1962, between 2:00 and 3:00 pm.The Aquarian Message (1960)
Repeated across the Christmas Messages and The Greater Mysteries, always with the same hour. The Secret Doctrine of Anahuac ties the same date to a total solar eclipse.
Some day in February
An incision in the trunk of this tree must be done in the month of February. The water which pours from the trunk of this tree can be given to the patient to drink. Dosage: Three ounces of this water each week.Occult Medicine and Practical Magic (1955, ed. 1978)
For epilepsy. The month is given; the day is not.
21 March
Practice these Runes in order, you should start your Runic exercises the 21st of March [read Chapter 3]. Dedicate the time that you wish to each Rune.Psychic Judo, or Esoteric Course of Runic Magic (1969)
The order as the chapters give it: FAH, IS, ARA, SIG, TYR, BAR, UR, DORN and TORN, OS, RITA, KAUM, HAGAL, NOT, LAF, GIBUR.
Holy Week
Samael places the Major Mysteries of the ancient colleges at Spring-Easter — “which is when life is powerfully and gloriously resuscitating” — celebrated under the pale light of the moon.
Psychic Judo, or Esoteric Course of Runic Magic (1969)
Good Thursday and Good Friday
communicate amongst themselves by means of lugubrious thuds which resound in remote sites on Good Thursdays and Good Fridays.Occult Medicine and Practical Magic (1955, ed. 1978)
Good Friday, twelve midday
This operation is performed at twelve o’clock midday, on Good Friday. The person traces a circle around the tree, then he blesses it. He begs the elemental to ‘encircle’ his personal atmosphere with the elemental’s protective atoms, by creating a protector wall that will defend this person against the tenebrous powers.Occult Medicine and Practical Magic (1955, ed. 1978)
Done with the Tomasuco tree of Magdalena, Colombia. The same day and hour is given for the harvest of the Artemisia.
Good Friday, twelve midnight
I advise you to perform this work on Good Friday at twelve midnight. I suggest to you the idea of calling the Angel Adonai. Such an Angel can become visible and tangible to your senses.Occult Medicine and Practical Magic (1955, ed. 1978)
The same hour is given for cutting the stalk that hangs from the ceiling against vampires.
Night of 23 June, at midnight
On the night of Saint John the Baptist, which is the end of the 23rd day of June, at midnight (vespers of Saint John, June 24th), three persons will magically operate with the Male Fern.Occult Medicine and Practical Magic (1955, ed. 1978)
Samael gives this as the exact formula, and says the errors in it were made by his interpreters, not by him. Three persons, bathed and dressed as for a wedding.
24 December
Every Christmas Message from 1952 onward is dated 24 December — the first from the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, the rest from Mexico.
Christmas Messages (1952–1966)
25 December, at midnight
German Eddas mention Kristos, the God of the theogony, who like Jesus of Nazareth was born at Christmas, the 25th of December at midnight. This is also the case with the Christified Nordics, Odin, Wotan and Beleno.Christmas Messages (1952–1966)
And the charge that goes with the date: “Though Christ be born a thousand times in Bethlehem, it serves no purpose if He is not also born in our heart. Christmas is a cosmic event that must be realised in each one of us. Christmas is absolutely individual.”
Each day carries a planet, an angel who is invoked on it, a regent of the air who commands it, and the matters it governs. The last column is Samael’s own list of what each planet answers for.
| Day | Invoke | Planet | Regent of the air | Signs | Matters it governs |

Our readers must not forget that the present day Saturday is the seventh day of the week and that the present day Sunday is the first day of the week in accordance with the Cosmic Order… Thus, MONDAY is present day Sunday, WEDNESDAY is present day Monday, FRIDAY is present day Tuesday, SUNDAY is present day Wednesday, TUESDAY is present day Thursday, THURSDAY is present day Friday and SATURDAY is present day Saturday.Occult Medicine and Practical Magic (1955, ed. 1978)
So, Monday corresponds to the actual Sunday, and the present Saturday is the seventh day.Zodiacal Course (1951)
Work that returns every week, at its own hour.
Fridays and Sundays, at dawn
On Fridays and Sundays at dawn there are Masses and Communions, and all Christians can attend these Masses and receive the communion of the bread and wine by living in accordance with the teachings given in chapters 4 and 5 of this book.Book of the Virgin of Carmel (1952)
Fridays and Sundays
It is indispensable to take your physical body to the Gnostic Church every Friday and Sunday, at dawn to receive the Gnostic Holy Unction in flesh and bone.Zodiacal Course (1951)
Friday
Friday is the day of sexual magic. The Greater Mysteries (1956)
Friday of each week
We advise those students a short exercise of five minutes on Friday of each week if the case is very serious, or a short exercise of five minutes daily, if the case is not too serious.Esoteric Treatise of Hermetic Astrology (1967)
Friday 10 p.m. to Saturday 2 a.m.
We can invoke Xochipilli on Fridays from 10:00 p.m. to Saturdays at 2:00 a.m. He makes the ‘Wheel of Retribution spin in favor of those who ask him and who also deserve it.Aztec Christic Magic (1973)
Any Thursday night, 10 to 11 p.m.
choosing for that purpose the night of any Thursday, between 10:00 and 11:00 p.m. Start the convocation of that night with praying to God and to the Masters, followed by the 23rd Psalm of the Bible which you must not be missing in your Sanctum.Aztec Christic Magic (1973)
Sunday, at sunrise
Every morning on Sundays, at the rising of the King Star (sunrise), seven grams of wheat must be put inside of the bag where the Magic Key is carried, as an offering to the Seven Planetary Genii.Occult Medicine and Practical Magic (1955, ed. 1978)
The one part of the wheel that cannot be printed in advance — the phases move each year. The rules do not.
Crescent
All that is began during the crescent moon progresses quickly.Zodiacal Course (1951)
Crescent
Always do your business in crescent moon so that you may succeed. Hitler launched himself on Russia in the waning moon and failed.Zodiacal Course (1951)
Waning
All that is done in the waning moon fails.Zodiacal Course (1951)
New and full
The new Moon is very weak and the full Moon is very strong and serves to carry out all works of practical magic successfully.Zodiacal Course (1951)
Last day of the Moon
The last day of the Moon means: abortions and failuresZodiacal Course (1951)
First quarter and full
On the first quarter moon and on full Moon they can carry out their enterprises, which culminate with good success.Manual of Practical Magic (1954)
New moon to the following full moon
The mirror of high magic is esoterically prepared in forty-eight days. The esoteric work is begun during the new moon and is concluded during the following full moon.Occult Medicine and Practical Magic (1955, ed. 1978)
Waning
Salt mixed with saliva and applied over the goiter during the time of the waning moon also cures goiter.Occult Medicine and Practical Magic (1955, ed. 1978)
The first night of the silver sickle
should be celebrated in the first night when the fine silver sickle of the new moon appears in the sky.Aztec Christic Magic (1973)
First Thursday with the new moon
the Ocelot Knights and the Cuauhtli Knights celebrated another ceremony on the first Thursday with the new moonAztec Christic Magic (1973)
The ancient sages considered the day as a cross within a perfect circle… the day is divided into four parts, like a cross within the perfect circle… The first quarter of the day is governed by the planet of the day, which carries its name, and the second, third and fourth quarters of the day develop according to the order of the planets: Moon, Mercury, Venus, Sun, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn.Zodiacal Course (1951)
Samael sets this against the planetary hours of the astrological annuals, which he calls false and absurd. The first quarter of any day belongs to that day’s own planet; the three that follow run on in the order Moon, Mercury, Venus, Sun, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn.
Each practice belongs to its own month, so each video wants to be out before that month opens. Film one sign ahead and you are always publishing into the season the practice is for.
| Publish before | Date | The video | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Aries | 21 March | The Salute, and the practice of the head | Film in Pisces, the month before. The Salute belongs at the front of the whole series — it opens every other practice, so it is the first video and the one every later video refers back to. |
| Taurus | 20 April | The larynx, and the two golden rules | Film in Aries. Two videos here if the AOM breakdown needs its own: the prayer, then the vowel. |
| Gemini | 21 May | The seven keys of astral travel | Film in Taurus. This is the densest month in the book — seven keys, the Jinn state, and the return to the body. Plan for a short series rather than one long recording. |
| Cancer | 22 June | Gabriel, and the thirteen thousand rays | Film in Gemini. Publish the Male Fern feast alongside it — 23 June falls in the first days of this sign. |
| Leo | 23 July | Concentration, meditation, Samadhi | Film in Cancer. The three steps deserve one video each if you have the time. |
| Virgo | 23 August | The solar plexus and the vowel U | Film in Leo. |
| Libra | 23 September | The scale, and the key of Ursa Major | Film in Virgo. |
| Scorpio | 24 October | The Great Arcanum | Film in Libra. The heaviest subject in the course; give yourself the whole of Libra to prepare it. |
| Sagittarius | 23 November | The squat of the guacas, and the Tarot | Film in Scorpio. The intuitive Tarot method can carry its own series afterwards. |
| Capricorn | 22 December | FARAON, and the walk over the coffin | Film in Sagittarius, early — Christmas lands three days into this sign and the Nativity video goes out then. |
| Aquarius | 20 January | The calves, and “Energy, pass through!” | Film in Capricorn. 4 February falls here — the anniversary of the Age, worth its own short video. |
| Pisces | 19 February | The seven vowels, head to feet | Film in Aquarius. It closes the wheel, so record the Aries opening in the same sitting. |
The one place a turning of the year does get named, and it is not his own sentence — he is quoting the Gita, in the chapter on Cancer. Two roads, one lit and one dark, and the solstice tells you which one you are on.
Verse 24, chapter 8, The Bhagavad Gita
Upon leaving the body, taking the path of fire, of the light of the day, of the fortnight of the Moon and of the northern solstice, those who know Brahma go to BrahmaQuoted in Hermetic Astrology (1967), chapter 4 — Cancer
Verse 25, chapter 8, The Bhagavad Gita
The yogi who upon dying goes on the path of smoke, of the dark fortnight of the Moon and of the southern solstice, reaches the Lunar sphere and is then reborn.Quoted in Hermetic Astrology (1967), chapter 4 — Cancer
Verse 26, chapter 8, The Bhagavad Gita
These two paths, the luminous and the dark, are considered permanent. One becomes emancipated on the first one, and is reborn on the second one.Quoted in Hermetic Astrology (1967), chapter 4 — Cancer
Places where the books disagree with themselves. Nothing here has been tidied — both readings are printed above, and this is the record of why.
Sachariel · Zachariel
The Sagittarius chapter heading of the Zodiacal Course gives the ruler as Sachariel; the body of that chapter, and the list of planetary regents in Occult Medicine, give Zachariel. The sign table above follows the heading, the table of the week follows Occult Medicine.
Uriel · Uiriel
Occult Medicine names him URIEL as Regent of Venus two lines before writing UIRIEL must be invoked on Friday. The Zodiacal Course has Uriel throughout. Printed as Uriel.
Orifiel · Ortfiel
The same page of Occult Medicine gives ORTFIEL is the Regent of Saturn and ORIFIEL must be invoked on Saturday. The Zodiacal Course has Orifiel. Printed as Orifiel.
Scorpio’s metal
The chapter heading gives Magnet, the close of the chapter gives Iron. The heading is what stands above.
Forty-eight days
The magic mirror is said to take forty-eight days, begun at the new moon and concluded at the following full moon — which is about fifteen. Both halves of the sentence are his; neither has been adjusted.
The Wheel of Retribution
The Xochipilli passage opens a single quote before Wheel of Retribution and never closes it. Left open, as printed.
Varcan “comrpands”
The list of the regents of the air reads VARCAN comrpands on Sunday where the six others read commands. Almost certainly the typesetter, but recorded rather than corrected.
Taiiwanieicr
Occult Medicine has him say Huiracocha wrote it “in his Taiiwanieicr”. The book Huiracocha wrote is the Tattwameter; the scan has mangled the title. Printed as it stands.
ArcanumA.Z.F
The reading for Arcanum 12 runs two words together — “The ArcanumA.Z.F takes away the pain.” Left joined.
powerftil
The Saturday exorcism calls on “the powerftil Elohim Casiel”. Left as printed.
kabahstic
The Tendency of the Day is worked from “the kabahstic sum of the date we have chosen By means of this system” — a mangled word and a missing full stop, both left alone.
The arcana and their full stops
Twenty of the twenty-two readings close the quotation after the full stop. Numbers 2 and 7 close it before. Both are reproduced as they fall.
No equinox — but solstice, three times
Equinox appears nowhere in the seventeen books searched. Solstice does — three times, all in the Cancer chapter of Hermetic Astrology, and all inside quotations from the Bhagavad Gita rather than in his own voice. He still never marks the four turning days of the year as solstices and equinoxes; he names them only as the doors of Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn. An earlier version of this page said the word appeared nowhere at all; that was wrong, and this is the correction.
