Every word here is his. Nothing has been paraphrased, joined or improved. Each passage was cut out of the book it belongs to by reference, and each carries that book and the paragraph it came from (and, where he was speaking rather than writing, the name of the lecture with the place and the year the volume records for it), so anything on this page can be found again in the source.

The first part is destiny itself. In a lecture he puts it plainly: “each one is born with a destiny”. It is written in a book, kept by the Archons of Destiny under Anubis, and it reaches as far as the end: “the Angels of Death cut the Thread of Life on a precise day and hour”.

The second part is the other law. “Certainly many accidents are a result of destiny but not all accidents are a result of destiny.” And in the Pistis Sophia commentary: “Millions of creatures are found trapped within the Law of Accidents.”

The third part refuses fatalism. “Karma is the law of compensation, not of vengeance.” The stars and the horoscope incline; they do not settle what the Masters can modify.

The fourth part is the Fate of the Pistis Sophia, the words of Jesus to Mary and Philip set beside his commentary, which says the Intimate Christ “can change within ourselves the paths and courses of the Fate”.

The last part is the way out. “There are three types of actions”: by accident, by recurrence, and by the conscious will. “Whosoever truly possesses free willpower can originate new circumstances.” And so, “It is possible to alter our own destiny”, because “We ourselves are the creators of our own destiny.”

IEach one is born with a destiny

Destiny is carried in from past existences: inheritance is its vehicle, the totemists knew it as the fruit of karma, and some are born on a feather bed while others are born into misfortune. The lectures add that destiny is the repetition of previous acts, carried by the I's that survive death, and a meditation is given for tracing a present joy or pain back to its cause in an earlier life.

These three factors can be positive or negative. They are positive when they manifest themselves as upright thoughts, upright feelings, and upright actions. They are negative when they manifest themselves as criminal thoughts, criminal feelings, and criminal actions. Let us study these three factors separately. Inheritance is the vehicle of Karma, nemesis, or law of destiny. Here, we are not asking you to believe; you may not believe in it. However, what we need is to analyze and to profoundly delve into the distinct innerdepths of the mind. Concerning beliefs, to say, “I believe or I do not believe,” is proper for ignorant people. We are mathematicians in our scientific investigations and very demanding in our analysis and our expression. Death is a subtraction operation. When such an arithmetic operation is finished, only the values remain. These values are what continue.

The soul is not a prisoner, however, for it can enter and leave the maternal womb and its body at will. After nine months, the soul is born with a new child's body. If in the previous reincarnation we did much evil, then in the following one it is our turn to suffer the consequences, and we are born with very bad luck.

So, each one is born with a destiny, and this destiny is formed by the Law of Recurrence. To say that the Law of Recurrence is based, precisely, on the Law of Return, is a fact. Destiny has its keepers. Anubis, the jackal-headed god, heads the judges and archons of destiny; the Archons join the thread of life to the seed at conception, each creature's lot is written in the Book of the Zodiac, and the awakened disciple can leave the body to read his own book in the Temple of Anubis. In grave need the four angels of the cardinal points, who govern human destiny, may be invoked with their incenses.

A temple of the Lords of Karma exists in the subtle world and the jackal is great chief of these judges of destiny. This great Being is supreme Judge of the Cosmic Tribunal; he has the appearance of a great man with the head of a jackal.

Whoever awakens consciousness can travel with his internal bodies out side of the physical body with complete conscious will and study his own book of destiny in the Temple of Anubis and his fo rty two Judges. The head of the priests of the Tribunal of Karma is the great Master Anubis. The Temple of Anubis, the supreme regent of karma is found in the molecular world, called by many, the astral world. In that tribunal only rules the terror of love and justice. There, exists a book for each one with the debts and credits. Each day one’s good and bad actions are meticulously noted in it. Good acts are represented by strange coins which the Masters accumulate in favour of the men and women who perform them. Defence lawyers are also to be found in that tribunal; however, everything is paid for, nothing is obtained as a gift. He who has good works pays, and comes off well in the dealings. Credit solicited is paid for with unselfish works, inspired by love for those who suffer.

There is no doubt that the Count Cagliostro also used incenses for this. The Angels of Death, working under Saturn and by the Law of Destiny, cut the silver cord on the day and hour appointed, and a funereal library holds the dates of all who must die. The teaching is then corrected: the Lords of Karma deposit cosmic values that can be spent or conserved, so good deeds lengthen a life and an intervention can postpone a death.

We accept that because of the Law of Destiny the child should not have died yet, but inevitably an intervention was needed, and it was the Virgin of Carmel who intervened.

This sculpture is a precious Aztec symbol of one of the principal hierarchs of death. The Angels of Death work under the influence of Saturn and disembody the souls according to the Law of Karma. Their symbols are the bat, the owl and the scythe. They take the soul out of the body and cut the silver cord that unites the soul to the body. When the Angels of Death are working, they adopt a skeletal appearance; after their work, they assume a beautiful appearance; they are really Angels.

The Angels of Life give a human being a vital body so that he may live. The Angels of Death take life from a human being. They do this by cutting the “Silver Cord”. This cord corresponds to the umbilical cord and it is sevenfold in its inner constitution. The Angels of Life connect the molecular body of the disincarnated person with the zoosperm, so that it acquires a new body. In fact, the Silver Cord is the thread of life which the Angels of Death break on the appropriate day and at the right time, in accordance with the Law of Destiny. The dying usually sees the Angel of Death. They, when working, dress in funeral garb and take on a spectral, skeletal appearance, grasping the scythe with which they cut the Silver Cord. They assume this gloomy appearance only whilst working, apart from this they adopt very beautiful forms, at times of children, at times of ladies or of venerable elders. The Angels of Death are never evil or perverse; they always work in accordance with the Great Law. Each one has his hour to be born, and his exact moment to die. The Angels of Death are very wise. They develop and operate under the Ray of Saturn. They know not only all that which is related to the common place and normal death of the physical body; these ministers of death are, as well, profoundly wise in all that which is related with the Death of the pluralised “I”.

The Blessed Goddess Mother Death has the power to punish us when we violate the Law and authority to take our life. She is, indubitably, only one magnificent facet of our Mystic Dyad; a splendid form of our own Being. In relation to the first aspect, all the texts of occultism, pseudo-occultism, pseudoRosicrucianism, and Theosophy state that one is born at a determined day, hour and second and dies at a determined day, hour and second according to the Law of Destiny. This concept is not exact because the Lords of Karma deposit within one, determined “Cosmic Values”. One can conserve that “Capital” and the lifespan can be greatly increased, or the values can be spent and the life shortened.

In accumulating cosmic capital the life is prolonged. If there are no good deeds, it is only in particular cases that the Lords of Karma will prolong the life.

It is due to the Law of Destiny. Parents who need to pass through this hard lesson, who, in previous lives, were cruel to their children, progress with this suffering, they learn to love.

Beyond Death

At the moment in which the dying exhales his last breath, an angel of death attends the deathbed; there are legions of them. The funerary angel cuts the silver cord or thread of life, which connects the soul with the physical body. The dying often sees such an angel in a spectral form, and the scythe that he appears with is certainly real; this tool serves precisely so that this Deity may cut the thread of existence.

IVThat is the clock of destiny

A petition to the higher worlds is granted only when karma allows. Otherwise the angels answer by showing a clock, and the hour on its face is the answer the disciple must learn to read.

They grant what we ask for, when Karma allows it. However, if our petition is not granted, then Uriel will show the disciple “the clock of destiny” and, in this case, we have no other option but to bow down our head before the verdict of the Law. In the actual world, there is a great number of schools that try to accomplish these same “miracles” by mental force, without taking into account at all, the approval of the Lords of Destiny. That is simply, pure and legitimate black magic. The Christ-mind works well with the law. Black mental waves do not arrive where they are sent because a multitude of aerial “elementals”, that trap and intercept their path, exist in the subtle world. Innumerable forces, which divert or disintegrate destructive mental waves, also exist in space. Therefore, evil waves can only cause harm when the victim does not know how to love nor forgive.

When we ask for something, many times the Angels respond by show ing us a clock. The disciple must take note of the time on the clock; that is the clock of destiny. The answer is to be found in the hour. The answer is always given to one in the esoteric allegory of the clock. One must learn to understand the clock.

INot all accidents are a result of destiny

A newspaper report of a legless man killed on the road claimed his death had been written. Against it the law of destiny is set apart from the law of accidents: some accidents are destiny, most road accidents come of imprudence, and no horoscope holds them all.

In a Mexican daily paper we saw an article called “IT WAS HIS DESTINY TO DIE CRUSHED ON THE ROAD.”

The text of the article said; “A half-man – he didn’t have legs, only 2 pathetic stumps – consequence of being hit by a train some time ago, who in life was called Fernando Contreras Moran was converted into a bloody mass when he was run over last night on the corner of Claudio Bernard Street and Dr Barragan Street by a heavy vehicle driven by a drunk called Manuel ZamudioMartinez who has been detained in the 6th Delegation.”

Thus finishes the text of the fatal article. The journalist plays PROPHET and mentions the law of destiny, believing the destiny of this unhappy man was to die broken in pieces. We DO NOT negate the LAW of cause and effect but it is difficult for a simple journalist to know if this type of tragedy is the result of the law of destiny or the law of accidents. It is absurd to say in a prophetic tone that all accidents figure in our horoscope and that destiny is their secret cause.

Certainly many accidents are a result of destiny but not all accidents are a result of destiny. In reality 99% of road accidents are a product of imprudence. It seems incredible that a poor man like the fellow mentioned in this tragedy have not managed to alter even minimally the laws of transit and circulation. It is barely believable that that human society is so cruel and heartless. A life full of tragedy with such a fatal conclusion was not sufficient to move the heart of human society.

People cross the streets asleep, and one moment of forgetfulness is enough for a car. Such a death, like the sickness of the glutton or the drunk, is not charged to karma, and students are told to distinguish the two laws; in the infernal worlds chance rules outright, and many beings live under accident rather than under the Fate.

It is very true that people walk around the streets absorbed in their own thoughts. This is the cause of many accidents. We can’t deny that humans are asleep and walk through the streets like sleepwalkers, profoundly dreaming. All this is very true but for this reason it is urgent to reform the transport systems.

The drivers demand that the pedestrians walk around alert and vigilant in order to avoid accidents. That the drivers of vehicles wish for this is marvelous but the reality is distinct. All the world lives absorbed in his thoughts, everyone walks around dreaming. Even those that live more awake, who have learnt to be more prudent and take care when they cross the streets etc. have moments in which they don’t remember that cars exist. One instant like this, one moment of forgetfulness is enough for us to fall under the wheels of a car.

Unquestionably, we cannot blame everything on karma. As I say, the Law of Accidents exists. If we are not prudent, for example, it can happen that a car finishes us off on the street, and that is not the result of karma. If we overindulge in food, we eat more than we should, obviously, we can get sick; and karma is not to blame for that. If we take a few drinks and get drunk, karma is not responsible for that; it is us who have dedicated ourselves to drinking. If we hurt others, they can hurt us; if we insult others, then they insult us.

So, my dear brothers, distinguish between what is the Law of Accidents and what is the Law of Karma. There are actions of karma. Undoubtedly, it regulates our lives. But we should never protest against karma.

Part Three — Not the blind mechanicalism

IKarma is the law of compensation, not of vengeance

Karma is refused as fatality or predetermination. Acts are shaped by inheritance, education and environment, yet free will remains to modify them, and the law can be negotiated because divinity is not without mercy.

Karma is the law of compensation, not of vengeance. There are some who confuse this cosmic law with detriment and even with fatality, believing that everything that happens to the human being in life is inexorably determined beforehand. It is true that the acts of the human being are determined by inheritance, education, and the environment. It is also true that the human being has free will and can modify his actions to educate his character, to form superior habits, to fight against weaknesses, to fortify virtues, etc. The Masters of Karma are conscious Judges that live in Jinn state. Whosoever in front of them has funds to pay his debts, he pays and does well in his affairs. We constantly have to perform good deeds in order to have funds to pay our debts of this life and our previous lives. All the actions of the human being are controlled by laws. Some laws are superior, others are inferior. All of the superior laws are resumed within love. This is why upon speaking of love, the Master Paul stated: “Love suffereth long, and is kind; love envieth not, love vaunteth not itself is not puffed up, doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoketh thinketh no evil; rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth; beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.” 1 Corinthians 13: 4-7 The Chief Priest of the Priests of the Tribunal of Karma is the great Master Anubis. Only the terror of love and justice reign in this Tribunal. In this temple, a book of debits and expenditures exists for each human being in which is written daily, in detail, good and evil actions. The good actions are represented by rare coins that the Masters accumulate on behalf of the men and women that perform these good deeds. Also in this Tribunal, defense lawyers are found. Yet, everything must be paid. Nothing is granted as a gift. The one who has good deeds pays and does well in his affairs. The Masters of Karma also grant credits to those who request them. The granted credits are paid with unrewarded good deeds that are inspired by love towards those who suffer.

Fortunately, Karma is negotiable, this Law is not the blind mechanicalism of the Astrologers and Chiromancers of fairs.

How this was made. All fifty-two books were extracted (73,105 paragraphs, 2,157,671 words) and swept on his words for it: destiny, the law of accidents, fate and fatalism, predestination, chance, luck and fortune, the wheel of destiny, the horoscope and the stars, the book, clock, archons and law of destiny, the thread of life, free will and the conscious will, and the victim of circumstances. Every family but destiny and the law of accidents was kept only where it stood beside the law, which dropped 263 uses of fatal as an adjective, the fate of heroes and minerals, fortunately, and the free will of others that the black magician violates. The paragraphs next to the strongest ones were offered too, and 18 that begin a sentence the readers had already kept were added by hand. That returned 552 candidate paragraphs in 42 books. Every candidate was read twice, by independent readers working from a written brief. The two passes agreed on whether to print 94.6% of the time and on the class 86.1%, and a third reader, who saw neither verdict, settled the 31 they did not. 151 were judged printable and 143 are printed here. The rest are recorded with the reason each was set aside.

What was set aside. 109 named destiny or fate only in passing, 43 were a false friend (fatality as the initiate’s fall, destined to, fortune as wealth), 31 were Pistis Sophia text on another mystery, 29 headings, 26 recurrence and reincarnation for themselves, 24 another finished work’s, 22 stories told for themselves, 15 prophecy and 12 karma’s tribunal for its own sake. 51 more were judged and not printed.

Some of it he spoke. 21 passages come from the two Fifth Gospel volumes, across 11 named lectures, each cited by the name of the lecture with the place and the year where the volumes record them.

What was corrected, silently. The text layer of The Social Christ carries its quotation marks and dashes in a broken encoding; they are printed as the book printed them. The line-end breaks of the Fifth Gospel’s two narrow columns are closed up against the corpus rather than by guess. No word of his is changed.

No sentence of his is cut in half. Each range was extended against the corpus until his sentence closed, a passage that turned out to be the second half of the one before it was absorbed into it, and 34 ranges run over more than one paragraph.

2 paragraphs were left out on purpose. One restates an earlier book with nothing added (the earlier is kept), and one opens The Twelve Hours of Apollonius, which belong to the initiation rather than to the clock of destiny.

79 passages also stand in a finished work, and every one is marked where it stands. Most of them are in The Law of Karma, Desire and Will, The Law of Recurrence and Return and Reincarnation. The editor ruled that shared passages print here too. An overlap is allowed wherever the teaching needs it. What is not allowed is an overlap a reader cannot see.

Checked five ways. Every reader’s note was proved to sit on the passage as it is actually printed. Every printed pair was compared as sequences, and the restatements that survived were read against both sources by eye. Every ragged edge was repaired or named. Every one of the 29 passages marked a practice was proved to carry its own instruction or was read for it by eye. And no passage stands on this page in the wrong language.

A work of The Laws, the family for the laws he says govern everything, the sleeping man included: recurrence, return, karma, the pendulum, evolution and involution, the three and the seven, entropy, the two poles, and now destiny and the accidents beside it.
