Every word here is his. Nothing has been paraphrased or improved. Each passage was cut out of the book it belongs to by reference, and each carries that book and the paragraph it came from, so anything on this page can be found again in the source. Most of it comes from the three books where he gave a whole lesson on the sign, the Zodiacal Course, the Esoteric Treatise of Hermetic Astrology and the Manual of Practical Magic; the rest are the paragraphs where he names Aries in other books. Many of these passages also stand in other works of the shelf, chiefly Awakening, Zodiacal Course and Clairvoyance. They are gathered here on purpose: the same teaching comes back in several of them because hearing it again is how it settles.

The first part is the sign and its tables: its dates and its table, its metal, stone, colour and element, its number and its plants: “This zodiacal sign governs the head, is the house of the warrior Mars, iron is its metal, ruby its stone and fire is its nature.” “The metal of Aries is iron; the stone, ruby; the color, red; the element, fire.”

The second is his opening instructions to the disciple: the heart temples of the stars, the sidereal rulers of the planets and the genii, the two golden rules, and the two columns Jachin and Boaz: “…esoteric Astrology is the religion of light and the heart.” “Jachin and Boaz are the two “passwords””

The third is the four states of consciousness and the living zodiac of the body, with the head under Aries: “The human organism is a Living Zodiac and in each of its twelve constellations, the consciousness sleeps profoundly.” “Light and Consciousness are two phenomena of a same thing”

The fourth is the door of Aries in the head: the chalice of the brain and the two glands: “The power of clairvoyance resides in these two small glands.” “There, in our brain, our Christic semen is charged with the light of Aries.”

The fifth is Mars and the fire of Aries: RA, RAMA, the lamb, and the sixteenth Arcanum of the constellation: “Aries is the house of Mars and Mars is the planet of war.” “Aries is the symbol of RA, RAMA, the lamb.”

The sixth is the natives, those born under the sign: “The natives of Aries feel capable of embarking on great enterprises and carrying them to a good conclusion.” “If the natives of Aries want to be happy in marriage, they should put an end to the defect of anger.”

The seventh part is the practice: the exercise and the prayer, the vowel I, the pineal, AUM, the genii of the sign and its perfume: “The work with our own Zodiac begins precisely with Aries.” “This vowel will cause your pineal gland to vibrate and finally you will become clairvoyant.”

This is the sixth of twelve, one for each sign, each released as the sun enters it.

IFrom the 21 of March to the 19 of April

The lesson of Aries in the Zodiacal Course opens with this table: the dates of the sign, what it rules, and its metal, stone, perfume, plant, flower, planet, colour, element, key word, day and ruler. Beside it stand the metal, stone, colour and element the Hermetic Astrology gives, what the Tarot and Kabalah says of the number one and Aries, and what the plants of the sign are like.

On entering these studies of esoteric Astrology, I should give you a few prior instructions that will serve as positive orientation in these classes.

Zodiacal Course, 1951

In the stellar nucleus of all sidereal sun, planet, every lunar satellite or comet, there always exists a “Heart Temple” which is the secret dwelling of a sidereal genie. Thus, the entire infinite is a system of hearts. This is why esoteric Astrology is the religion of light and the heart.

He names the seven rulers of the planets, the seven spirits before the throne, and describes the solar system as the body of the Logos.

Each of our sidereal planets has its Sidereal Ruler: Gabriel is the Ruler of the Moon Raphael is the Ruler of Mercury Uriel is the Ruler of Venus Michael is the Ruler of the Sun Samael is the Ruler of Mars Zachariel is the Ruler of Jupiter Orifiel is the Ruler of Saturn These are the seven spirits before the throne of God. As we have already said, each of them dwells in a heart-temple, and because of it, esoteric Astrology is the religion of light and love.

IIIThese celestial genii are precisely the authentic governors of the infinite

The forces of the stars are not blind: they are the rays of the planetary genii, who can change what a horoscope foretells. For this reason the true astrologer has to be a magician.

Very well; thou know that every wheel has its axis, and because of this, thou will, therefore, understand that the base of motion resides at the center of every mass. Mass can only be dominated from its center and the center of all mass is the spirit. Due to this, we affirm that a heart temple, which is the dwelling of the genie of the star, exists in every sidereal center. These celestial genii are precisely the authentic governors of the infinite, and rulers and lords of our own human destinies.

Zodiacal Course, 1951 also in Elemental Magic, The Law of Destiny

Profane astrologers will tell you, for example, that a quadrature of Saturn with Mars brings you a catastrophe, or that an opposition of Venus and Mars, a failure, in love, etc., but these forecasts by profane astrology can fail even when the mathematical calculations are exact, because these sidereal forces are not blind forces.

These forces are precisely the rays of the planetary genii, and these masters can modify all human events even when the horoscope is full of quadratures and oppositions. So that Arithmetic Astrology is not exact; for which reason I consider that one cannot be an authentic Astrologer without being a magician in Alchemy. Lamblichus, the great magician, invoked the planetary genii and materialized them in the physical world to talk to them, and it was through them that he accomplished his great marvels.

IVthrough these golden rules we can destroy Karma and we can triumph in life

Magic works through the Inner Self. He gives the two golden rules of the schools of inner instruction and asks the disciple to keep them in mind for the lessons ahead.

Divine magic can only be practiced through the “Inner Self” of the “magician”, and the Inner Self is our spirit, our “Superior Self”, our Angel. It is also true that Nature is a great alchemical laboratory where essences exist and events of all types are combined. In the schools of inner instruction, we are made to learn these golden rules: “The Lion of the Law is combated with the Scale”. “When an inferior law is transcended by a superior law, the superior law washes away the inferior law”.

Zodiacal Course, 1951 also in The Law of Karma

The absolute comprehension of these two golden rules allows us to neutralize the disastrous effects of all the quadratures and oppositions of our personal horoscope. This means that through these golden rules we can destroy Karma and we can triumph in life.

VJachin and Boaz are the two “passwords”

He says what the course will teach, and names the two columns at the door of all sidereal time, with a guardian at each, whose names open the heart temple of each star.

This course of Esoteric Astrology will convert you into magicians and alchemists and will develop all your occult powers. Thou shalt then know how to make thyself invisible, how to invoke and materialize the planetary Gods in the physical world, how to talk with them; how to kill Karma, and the secret art of succeeding in life through certain mysterious formulae that will permit thee to manipulate the sidereal rays for thy own ends and to help others. Now, to end this preamble of our present lesson, I will tell thee, that two columns exist at the door (portico) of all sidereal time: one white and the other black. The column at the right is called “JACHIN” and the left column is called “BOAZ”. You should also know, good disciple, that there is a guardian at each column. from Esoteric Treatise of Hermetic Astrology, 1967

The Intellectual Animal divides his painful and miserable life between run-of-the-mill sleep and the improperly called Vigil state, which unfortunately is another form of sleep. While the physical body sleeps in bed, the Ego, enveloped in its Lunar Bodies, goes around with the consciousness asleep like a somnambulist moving freely in the molecular region.

Esoteric Treatise of Hermetic Astrology, 1967 also in Awakening, Identification, The Keys of Astral Travel

In the molecular region, the Ego projects dreams and lives in them; no logic, continuity, causes, or effects whatsoever exist in its dreams; all psychic functions work without direction whatsoever and subjective images, incoherent, vague, imprecise scenes, etc., appear and disappear.

IIthe so called Vigil State is really dreaming while Awake

The waking state is another form of sleep: the dreams go on inside while a man drives, works, falls in love and marries.

IIIit is necessary to comprehend that one is asleep

The path of awakening begins when a man fully realises that he is asleep, and the work is done here and now, in this physical world.

Before all else, it is necessary to comprehend that one is asleep; it is only when someone fully realizes that he is asleep that he really enters the path of Awakening.

Whoever manages to Awaken then becomes Self-Conscious, acquires Consciousness of Himself.

Esoteric Treatise of Hermetic Astrology, 1967 also in Awakening

The most serious error of many ignorant pseudo-esoterists and pseudo occultists is that of presuming of being Self-Conscious and to believe, moreover, that everyone is awake, that all people posses Self-Consciousness.

Esoteric Treatise of Hermetic Astrology, 1967 also in Awakening

If we want to arrive at the Awakening of Consciousness, at Self-Consciousness, we have to work with the Consciousness here and now. It is precisely here in this physical world where we should work to Awaken Consciousness. Whoever awakens here awakens everywhere, in all the dimensions of the Universe.

During this sign, the disciple will have to charge his head with light to awaken his pituitary and pineal glands. The power of clairvoyance resides in these two small glands. Both glands are joined by an extremely fine duct, which has already disappeared in corpses. When both glands interchange their luminous auras, man becomes clairvoyant and then perceives all the marvels of the subtle world. He will then know all the secrets, thoughts of men and women and will be able to see and talk to the sidereal Gods. Who will be able to hide his secret away from him? The summary of the first lesson: the brain is a chalice to be filled with light, the light is the transmuted Christic energy, and the lesson began with the prohibition against fornication.

In the first lesson of Aries we have taught how and in what way we fill our chalice (brain) with Christic light to totally Christify ourselves from our head to our feet. It is clear! It is clear that the light “is” the Christonic semen or Christic energy which results from transmuting the semen into energy, as the wise Einstein has already proven.

In a lecture of The Fifth Gospel he says that life came forth when the fire of Aries fecundated the Limbus, and that only on the side of Aries can we become independent of the lunar forces.

Unquestionably, this universe has emerged from its original proto-hyle. When Aries, the Lamb, the Sacred Fire, fecundated the great Limbus, the Magnus Limbus, life emerged. IIPride, self confidence, ambition and a truly crazy courage

The Hermetic Astrology on the natives: the fire of the sign used well or destructively, a quarrelsome nature, willpower used for the self, and a love of independence.

Hitler, who was a native of Aries, utilized this type of energy in a destructive manner; nonetheless, we should recognize that in the beginning, before committing the craziness of launching humanity to the second world war, he utilized the energy of Aries in a constructive manner, elevating the level of living of the German people. Through direct experience we have been able to verify that the natives of Aries quarrel frequently with their spouse.

The exercise of the Zodiacal Course: sitting without thought, the prayer to the Inner Self, the salute to the two columns with their passwords, the mantram AOM, and the movements of the head.

PART SEVEN

the light of Aries
The work with our own Zodiac begins precisely with Aries.

A practice

The exercises of this sign are the following: The disciple should sit on a comfortable chair and remain thoughtless for five minutes. He should then pray to his Inner Self as follows: “Father, you who are my true being, I beg that you transport yourself to the main star of the constellation of Aries, to bring the principal genie of that constellation to this humble house, so that he may heal my brain and awaken all the occult powers of my head”. Then, with interlaced hands above his heart, the disciple will make a small bow of the head saluting the guardian at the right column, inhaling deeply, as in a sigh and immediately pronounces the password: JACHIN. Immediately, he will make an identical salute to the guardian on the left and pronounce the password: BOAZ. He will once again pray to his Inner Self like this: “Father, take the seven sacred steps within, towards the interior of the temple and kneel down at the feet of the principal genie of Aries, begging him to come and awaken the powers of my brain and to flood my head with light”. Then the disciple pronounces the mantra: AOM. This mantra is pronounced properly opening the mouth with the vowel “A”, rounding it off with the vowel “O”, and closing it with the letter “M”, like this: AAAAAAAAOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMM. This mantra is pronounced four times with the intention that the light flood our entire brain, Next, the disciple will stand up; extend his right hand forward and move his head seven times forward, seven times backwards, seven rotations to the right and seven times to the left, with the intention that light flood and act within all the glands of the brain. The pineal gland is influenced by Mars and the pituitary by Venus. The pituitary produces sleepiness and the pineal gland incites us to fight; and in this manner, while Venus wants to sleep, Mars wants to continue fighting.

IVThe disciple should sit in a comfortable armchair with the mind still and in silence

The exercise of the Hermetic Astrology: meditation with the light of Aries in the brain, the mantram AUM and what its three letters attract, and the movements of the head facing East.

A practice

The work with our own Zodiac begins precisely with Aries. The disciple should sit in a comfortable armchair with the mind still and in silence, empty of all kinds of thoughts. The devotee should close his eyes in order that nothing of the world distract him; imagine that the very pure light of Aries floods the cerebrum; he should remain in that state of meditation all the time he wants and then he will sing the powerful mantra AUM by opening the mouth properly with the ‘A’, rounding it with the ‘U’ and closing it with the holy ‘M’. The powerful mantram ‘AUM’ is in itself a terribly divine creation because it attracts the forces of the very beloved Father, of the very adored Son and of the very wise Holy Spirit. The vowel “A” attracts the forces of the Father, the vowel “U” attracts the forces of the Son, the vowel “M” attracts the forces of the Holy Spirit. AUM is a powerful Logoic Mantra. The devotee should sing this powerful mantra four times during this exercise of Aries and then, standing up towards the East, he will extend his right arm forward moving his head forward seven times, seven times backwards, turning it seven times towards the right, turning it seven times towards the left, with the intention that the light of Aries will work within the cerebrum awakening the pineal and pituitary glands which permit us the perception of the superior dimensions of space.

Vin Aries you will visit the genii of Aries

The twenty-four elders who rule the twelve constellations, two for each sign; the genii of Aries open the list. In the exercises of each sign the disciple visits its genii and asks them to treat the organs of that sign.

The solar system develops within the womb of the Zodiac, and the twenty-four elders and their twelve zodiacal hierarchies work from this solar system through their planetary rays. These twenty-four elders have their sacred names; each of the twelve zodiacal constellations is governed by two elders; in this manner: Aries: Sataaran and Sarahiel. Taurus: Bagdad and Araziel. Gemini: Sagras and Saraiel, Cancer: Ramdhar and Phakiel. Leo: Sagham and Seratiel, Virgo: ladara and Schaltiel. Libra: Grasgarben and Hadakiel. Scorpio: Richol and Saissalel. ✦ ✦ ✦

How this was made. All fifty-two books were extracted (73,105 paragraphs, 2,157,671 words) and swept for the sign. The sweep took the whole Aries chapters of three books: the Zodiacal Course (1951, ¶18–77, the lesson on Aries, with the summary of the first lesson, ¶974–981; 68 paragraphs), the Esoteric Treatise of Hermetic Astrology (1967, ¶9–46, 38) and the Manual of Practical Magic (1954, ¶436–441, 6). It then took every other paragraph in any book that names Aries (22) and every paragraph on the Golden Fleece (19); the lines of his correspondence tables not already in, the perfume of Occult Medicine and Practical Magic (2); and, where his sentence ran across the paragraph break, the paragraph beside it (12). The word “ram” was not searched for on its own, because nearly every place it stands it is part of RAM-IO, a name of the Divine Mother. That returned 167 candidate paragraphs in 14 books, 72 of them already printed in another work of the shelf. Every candidate was read twice, by independent readers working from a written brief. The two passes agreed on whether to print 98.8% of the time and on the class 96.4%. A third reader, who saw neither verdict, settled the two disagreements on whether to print, both in the list of the Sephiroth, where Mars is named the warrior of Aries in passing (the Zodiacal Course, ¶630, and the Esoteric Course of Kabbalah, ¶26): both were set aside. Where the two differed only on the class, the first reader’s class stands. 117 were judged printable, and 35 of them were joined into the passage before them where his sentence or his list ran across several paragraphs, so 82 passages are printed here. The rest are recorded with the reason each was set aside.

The practices were not gathered in a separate pass. The eight passages marked as practices are the ones the readers marked as giving the reader something to do. All eight are gathered as the last part, with the three passages that stand among them: the pineal gland and the hierarchies of Aries that follow the nightly exercise, and the genii of the twelve signs.

What was set aside. Of the 50 paragraphs the readers set aside, 24 spoke of the Golden Fleece as the treasure of the Being without a word of the Ram or of Aries, or stood beside such a paragraph; every paragraph on the Golden Fleece the sweep found was judged so. Eleven were headings, salutations and sign-offs; eight belonged to another sign or named Aries only in a list of all twelve; four were words that only look like the sign; two named Mars the warrior of Aries in passing; and one closed the dedication of the course.

One mend, recorded. In The Fifth Gospel (¶833) the scan reads “that we can truly burn all” for “that we can truly bum all”: the same sentence in the other English version of that lecture, The Revolution of the Dialectic (¶495), reads “truly burn”. Otherwise the passages are printed as the extraction gives them, its remaining slips included (“relations hip”, “Lamblichus”, “Virgo: ladara”).

No sentence of his is cut in half. Each range was extended against the corpus until his sentence closed, and 11 ranges run over more than one paragraph. The one heading inside a printed range, EXERCISE in the Zodiacal Course (¶65), is not printed; his list of the genii of the twelve signs prints whole, the lines on the other signs included.

Nothing was left out on purpose. Where he says the same thing in two books in different words, both are printed: the two English versions of one lecture on the fire of Aries, and the sixteenth Arcanum in the Tarot and Kabbalah and in Parsifal Unveiled.

40 passages also stand in a finished work, and every one is marked where it stands, most often in Awakening (16), Zodiacal Course (8) and Clairvoyance (8). The repetition is wanted: this is the vocabulary of the whole teaching, and a reader who meets the same line in a second book holds it better. What is not allowed is an overlap a reader cannot see.

No passage carries an editor’s note. Every passage from his early books was read for a line that credits the Kundalini to anything other than the work of the couple, and none does: the exercises of the sign are given for the head, the two glands and clairvoyance, and in the nightly exercise the fire of Aries descends from heaven through the pineal gland.

Checked twice over. Every section and part title is a line of his, proved against the passages under it. And every passage was checked word for word against a fresh extraction of its book.

The sixth work of The Zodiac, beside Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius, Pisces and the Zodiacal Course booklet on the shelf, which prints his practice for every sign. This one gathers everything he says on one sign. It wears the pale night-blue of the zodiac and the themed works’ two hairlines, in the red of his table for the sign.
