Every word here is his. Nothing has been paraphrased or improved. Each passage was cut out of the book it belongs to by reference, and each carries that book and the paragraph it came from, so anything on this page can be found again in the source. Most of it comes from the three books where he gave a whole lesson on the sign, the Zodiacal Course, the Esoteric Treatise of Hermetic Astrology and the Manual of Practical Magic; the rest are the paragraphs where he names Gemini in other books. Many of these passages also stand in other works of the shelf, chiefly The Keys of Astral Travel, Awakening and Zodiacal Course. They are gathered here on purpose: the same teaching comes back in several of them because hearing it again is how it settles.

The first part is the sign and its tables: its dates and its table, its metal, stone, colour and element, the number three, its plants, Hod and Netzach and the chariot of the Tarot, the genii of the sign, and the arms, legs and lungs in the living zodiac: “Gemini is the house of Mercury.” “Gemini governs the lungs, arms and legs.”

The second is the travel in the astral body: the sanctuaries of the astral and the lords of Mercury, the Jinn state, the external shocks that became internal, and the dreaming consciousness exchanged for a waking one: “The lords of Mercury help all those who ask for help.” “With the exercises of Gemini, we change the “pictorial” conscience of dream life, for a conscious and totally awake conscience.”

The third is the sidereal temples: how the theurgist reaches the heart-temple of a star, the robe of the esoteric astrologer, the regents in their temples, the planet chosen for the work, the door at which one knocks, and the heart-temple of the Earth: “The army of the verb creates with the word.” “The sons of light enter through the door of the heart temple.”

The fourth is consciousness asleep: identification, fascination and sleep, the dreams the Ego carries out of the body in sleep and at death, the work here and now, and the person who lives awake: “Whoever awakens Consciousness here in this physical world awakens in all the worlds.” “The awake person no longer dreams”

The fifth is from moment to moment: self-remembering, the watching of every thought, three scenes of people walking asleep, the division of attention into subject, object and place, and the seven dimensions: “A moment, an instant, of forgetfulness is enough to begin dreaming beautifully.” “The Division of Attention into Subject, Object and Place, leads to the awakening of Consciousness.”

The sixth is the sign of the twins: the Buddhic body given by the lords of Mercury, the twin souls, Castor and Pollux and the process of Gemini in cosmogenesis, the Essence in the lunar bodies, and the breathing of the Earth: “Gemini, or the sign of the twins, reminds us of the twin souls.” “The Earth also breathes.”

The seventh is the natives, those born under the sign, and their double personality: “The natives of Gemini are of a strong will; possess great courage, are versatile and like to travel.” “Those of us who know Gemini natives know how to handle them.”

The eighth part is the practice: the seven clues to travel in the astral body, the physical body taken in the Jinn state, the breaths of the sign with the arms and legs, and the perfume: “But the “tenacious” succeeds in the end.” “These are the seven clues to travel in the astral body.”

This is the eighth of twelve, one for each sign, each released as the sun enters it.

The lords of Mercury are already teaching mankind how to travel in the astral body.

The lords of Mercury are already teaching mankind how to travel in the astral body. The disciple is inevitably concerned with learning how to travel in the astral body. The authentic mystery schools are found in the astral plane, that is why it is necessary for the disciple to learn how to “leave” in the astral body. It is necessary for the student to learn how to enter those sanctuaries of inner instruction to receive direct instruction from the Masters of the Great White Lodge.

IIThe forces of the subconscious become activated during sleep

What the Jinn state is, and the story from the Rosicrucian Novel of a commander who received his initiation with his body in that state. He closes with a word on the works of Huiracocha and his son.

The forces of the subconscious become activated during sleep and these powerful energies are precisely the ones which allow us to “place our physical body within the astral plane”. This is what is called the “Jinn” state.

Zodiacal Course, 1951 also in The Keys of Astral Travel, Zodiacal Course

The sublime guru Huiracocha, Master Arnold Krumm Heller, talks to us about the “Jinn” states in his Rosicrucian Novel. Wise Krumm Heller describes to us a commander Montenero receiving a note from a “hugier” or servant. Commander Montenero sighed and said “at last”. Then he left the castle of Chapultepec and going around and around on the path of the mountain of Chapultepec, he whistled many times. A native then led commander Montenero to the temple of Chapultepec. Is this a phenomenon of the fourth dimension?” asked the commander. “Yes, my commander, the uninitiated does not become aware of these things”, answered the native. Thus, with his body in the jinn state, Montenero received his initiation.

Zodiacal Course, 1951 also in The Keys of Astral Travel

All the works of the renowned Krumm Heller (Huiracocha) are a well of initiatic wisdom that very few have comprehended. Now, remaining with us is his son Parsival Krumm Heller, who sincerely rejoiced with us when he studied our works titled: “The Perfect Matrimony” and “The Revolution of Bel”. Parsival faithfully follows the wise path of his father.

IIIIn this lesson of Gemini, we taught our disciples to enter the internal worlds in a positive form

From his summary of the third lesson: the monk struck by lightning, the external shocks that once opened the internal worlds, and the change after 1889.

At the beginning of the twelfth century, a monk named Norbert founded an order of religious character in Europe. Before that idea occurred to that man, he was a worldly man dedicated exclusively to vices and pleasures. On a certain day, he was struck by lightning, and although he was not killed, his entire being was totally transformed. This event did not occur by coincidence nor by chance. It was a cosmic event provoked by the Gods, since this man was predestined to mark the Karma of the worlds, performing a new task, and initiating a new cultural era of the conscience. All the fluid links between the physical and astral, and mental bodies of that man remained totally modified by the “shock” of the force contained in that ray, and that external shock marked the new consciousness which would reach its splendor in Aquarius.

Zodiacal Course, 1951 also in Aquarius

Now then, until the year 1889, those external shocks were very common, because actually, to enter the internal worlds during the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries was almost impossible. Nature had shut the doors to the internal worlds to humanity, for it was necessary for man to go through an era of darkness to enter the internal worlds later, in a different and positive manner.

Zodiacal Course, 1951

Those external shocks were the only ones capable of giving some evolved souls, access to the internal worlds.

Zodiacal Course, 1951

In 1899, the first cycle of “Kali-Yuga” ended, and after that date, those “externalpsychic” shocks became internal. In this lesson of Gemini, we taught our disciples to enter the internal worlds in a positive form.

IVwill now awaken his conscience and will not dream anymore

The exercises of Gemini exchange the consciousness of dreams for the continuous conscience. While the body sleeps, the disciple works awake in the internal worlds and remembers on waking what he did there.

Long ago, in Lemuria and Atlantis, all of mankind lived in the internal worlds, but in a negative form; the astral chakras turned from right to left, that is, to say, in a negative way (in reverse). The consciousness in humans was like that which people have in what we call dreams. That same consciousness of dreams is that of the animal, vegetable and mineral kingdoms.

Zodiacal Course, 1951 also in The Chakras, The Language of Dreams, The Root Races

With the exercises of Gemini, we change the “pictorial” conscience of dream life, for a conscious and totally awake conscience.

Zodiacal Course, 1951 also in Awakening, The Language of Dreams

These exercises confer upon us “the continuous conscience”, the new Aquarian conscience.

Zodiacal Course, 1951 also in Aquarius

The disciple who is asleep in the internal worlds, will now awaken his conscience and will not dream anymore. He will exchange his “dreams” for conscious experiences. These exercises will produce those internal shocks which will awaken his conscience, and will exchange dreams for real and effective experiences within the internal worlds.

Zodiacal Course, 1951 also in Awakening, The Keys of Astral Travel, The Language of Dreams

So while his body is asleep in bed, the disciple in the internal worlds will become an invisible help and a worker under the orders of the Universal White Fraternity. Before, the chakras turned from right to left and now with these exercises, they will turn positively like the hands of the clock. These exercises will totally impede him from dreaming again and while his body sleeps, he will be conscious in the internal worlds. That will be the result of these exercises. The conscience of dreams is a remnant of our animal conscience that we once possessed. Animals live a life of pictorial dreams. There will be many who will have difficulty “leaving” in the astral body at will, but by all means the exercises of this lesson of Gemini, will “inevitably” awaken their conscience and so, while their bodies sleep in their beds, they, too, will work consciously in the internal worlds. The important thing is that on awakening, they remember well their astral experience, which “are no longer dreams” but rather “conscious experiences”. To obtain this it is necessary that on awakening, not to move and do a retrospective exercise to remember well all we did while we were out of the physical body, since while every individual’s body is asleep, he is out of the body; those with asleep conscience, “dreaming” and those with awake conscience, “working” consciously.

from Zodiacal Course, 1951

The panorama of things change in a few instants, the theurgist is in the presence of the sidereal temple and the guardians of the columns “J” and “B”. The theurgist will make the strictly required salutes as we have taught in the previous pages, take the seven steps inside the heart-temple of the star and will then kneel at the feet of the Sidereal Genie. If the Genie says: “granted”, the disciple asks for “choir”; the Genie will make a sign and the army of the verb will begin to sing in sacred language to carry out the “work that we have asked for”. The army of the verb creates with the word. In these sublime moments we go into ecstasy. Entire Nature kneels before the Sidereal Gods and their ineffable canto elevates us to the plethora of light.

Part Four — People live with Consciousness Asleep

IIdentification and Fascination lead to the Sleep of the Consciousness

The third chapter of the Hermetic Astrology opens with an example from the street: a public demonstration that makes a person forget himself and fall asleep.

PART FOUR

Consciousness Asleep
People live with Consciousness Asleep, they work dreaming

Identification and Fascination lead to the Sleep of the Consciousness. For example: you are going quite calmly on the street, you suddenly meet a public demonstration; the masses vociferate, they talk about the leaders of the people, the flags wave through the air, people seem to be crazy, everybody talks, everybody yells.

Esoteric Treatise of Hermetic Astrology, 1967 also in Identification

That public demonstration is very interesting; you already forgot everything you had to do, you become identified with the masses, the speaker’s words convince you.

Esoteric Treatise of Hermetic Astrology, 1967 also in Identification

The public demonstration is so interesting that you already forgot yourself, you have become identified so much with that street demonstration, that you no longer think of anything else, you are fascinated, you now fall into the sleep of consciousness; mixed with the shouting masses, you also shout and you even throw stones and insults; you are dreaming beautifully, you no longer know who you are, you have forgotten everything. We will now give you another simpler example: You are in your living room, seated before the television screen, cowboy scenes appear, there is shooting, lovers’ dramas, etc., etc.

The fascination is now terrible, you do not even remotely remember yourself, you have entered a very profound sleep; in those moments you only want to see the triumph of the hero of the movie, you rejoice with him, you are worried about the fate he may have. Consciousness is incarnated here, so it is here that it must be awakened. People sleep and believe they are awake.

Whoever wants to awaken Consciousness should work here and now. We have the Consciousness incarnated and that is why we should work it here and now. Whoever awakens Consciousness here in this physical world awakens in all the worlds.

VIt is that Consciousness that we should awaken here and now

When the body sleeps, the Ego in its Lunar Bodies goes out and lives asleep in the internal worlds. Within those bodies is the Essence, which is what must awaken.

It is necessary to know that when people fall asleep, they come out of their physical bodies, but they carry along their dreams, they live in the internal worlds dreaming and when they return to the physical body, they continue with their dreams, they continue dreaming.

Three scenes of people walking asleep: the friend not greeted, the wrong door, the street passed by.

Many times, you are walking on the street, absorbed in your own thoughts, identified with those thoughts, fascinated, dreaming beautifully; suddenly, a friend passes near you, greets you, you do not return the greeting because you do not see him, you are dreaming; the friend becomes angry, he assumes that you are a person without manners or that you are possibly angry; the friend is also going around dreaming; if he was awake, he would not make such conjectures to himself, he would immediately realize that you are walking around asleep.

VIThe Division of Attention into Subject, Object and Place, leads to the awakening of Consciousness

What happened to students who made the exercise a habit: it repeated itself in sleep, and they awoke in the superior worlds.

The Division of Attention into Subject, Object and Place, leads to the awakening of Consciousness.

Esoteric Treatise of Hermetic Astrology, 1967 also in Awakening, The Keys of Astral Travel

After becoming accustomed to this exercise, to this Division of Attention into three parts, to these questions, to this little jump, etc., many Gnostic students ended up practicing the same exercise during the sleep of the physical body, when they were really in the superior worlds and when they made the famous experimental jump, they floated delightfully in the surrounding atmosphere; they then awoke Consciousness, they then remembered that the physical body had remained asleep in the bed and full of joy they were able to dedicate themselves to the study of the mysteries of life and death in the superior dimensions.

Esoteric Treatise of Hermetic Astrology, 1967 also in Awakening, The Keys of Astral Travel

It is logical to say that an exercise that is practiced from moment to moment daily, that becomes a habit, a custom, is recorded so much in the different zones of the mind that afterwards, it is automatically repeated during dreaming, when we are really outside of the physical body and the result is the awakening of Consciousness.

IIIThe process of Gemini is vital in Cosmo-genesis

Castor and Pollux, who lived and died by turns, stand for matter and energy. He traces the process in the making of the earth and in its return to energy.

The twins Castor and Pollux invite us to reflection. It is in fact known that in nature, manifested matter and the occult energy symbolized in the heat, light, electricity, the chemical energies and other superior ones which are still unknown to us, always process themselves in an inverse manner and the appearance of one presupposes the entropy or disappearance of the other; no less and no more than the mysterious brothers Castor and Pollux, a symbol of such a phenomenon among the Greeks. They alternately lived and died in the same manner that matter and energy anywhere are alternately born and die, appear and disappear.

From a lecture on the Law of Pendulum: the double personality of the natives, and how to bear with it.

Thus, it is worth being reflective. I understand that this Law of Pendulum is very evident, especially among the Gemini natives –from May 21st, to June 21st–. Geminis have –it is said– a double personality. Part Eight — The exercises of Gemini

2 passages

PART EIGHT

lie down on their backs
The disciple should lie horizontally on his bed, relax his body

It is also indispensable that the disciple learns to “enter” through the doors of those “sidereal” temples in the astral body. The main exercises of Gemini have as objective, to learn the use and maneuver of the astral body. In this sign, we also teach our disciples the secret art of the “Jinn” states, that will allow them to “carry” their physical bodies to the most secluded and remote places of the earth, in a few instants. We will give various clues in a numerical form: 1st The disciple should lie on his bed in a horizontal position. Relax the body so that no muscle applies pressure on the astral body. Become drowsy pronouncing the mantram “Rusti” like this: Ruuuuuuussssstiiiiiii. This mantram is pronounced mentally. In those instants, the student should become a “spy of his own sleep” When the student already finds himself in that state of drowsiness or somnolence that precedes sleep, he should get out of bed and leave the room. How? In what manner? Almost all students suppose that it is an exercise of magnetism or auto-suggestion, etc., but they are lamentably mistaken because here we are not dealing with auto suggestion or hypnotisms. Simply get out of bed for Nature will do the rest. She will know how to separate the astral body from the physical body. The disciple merely needs to stand up and leave his room for Nature will do the rest. Already out of his room, the student will take a little hop with the intention of floating in space and if he floats, he will then be able to transport himself to the Gnostic Church in a few seconds. But if he does not float, the disciple should once again get into bed and repeat the experiment. Some succeed immediately, others take months and even years to learn. But the “tenacious” succeeds in the end.

2nd In an almost imperceptible manner, a keynote always resounds within the brain of every living being. That keynote is that of the ray to which each person belongs and seems to come from the cells of the cerebellum. Some hear the sound of small flutes of the Egyptian ray; others will hear the “gong” of the Oriental ray, others the roaring of the sea, of the lunar ray, etc. If the disciple silences all his thoughts in the calm of the night, he will hear his keynote; then he can cause that note to vibrate loudly, with will and when the note is already so loud that it invades and semi-paralyzes the entire physical body, the disciple should get out of bed and betake himself to the Gnostic Church for the Masters of the White Brotherhood will receive him there with incomparable happiness.

3rd If you find yourself dreaming that you are at a certain place and you awaken, then do not move, become sleepy once again, with your imagination set on the aforementioned place, feeling yourself there again as if trying to continue the dream just as it was unfolding, while you cling to that place of the dream with thy Will. 4th At the time of falling asleep, concentrate thy imagination and thy Will intensely, united in vibrant harmony, on a certain place or location. Concentration should be perfect and then begin walking with faith in the “imagined” place. You should not imagine that you are imagining, because the experiment will then fail. One should really feel oneself at the imagined place and totally forget the bedroom. This experiment should be done during the state of transition between vigil and sleep and once at that place, kneel and ask thy own internal God to take you to the Holy Gnostic Church, which is the great Cathedral of the Soul and the temple in which the Solar Logos, our Lord, the Christ, officiates.

5th Keeping in mind that the soul wanders in all the familiar places or locations during ordinary sleep and that in a state of drowsiness it is occupied in the same trades and toils of the day, you should become accustomed to asking yourselves during the entire day: Where am I? Am I within the body or out of it? Then you will take a little hop with the intention of floating. It is logical that if you float, it is because you are out of the body, and if you do not float, it is because you are still in flesh and bones and continue your path. But, if you manage to float, ask your Inner-Self to take you to the Holy Gnostic Church. One should ask this question in the presence of something which attracts his or her attention, such as a crowd of people, a funeral procession, a strange object, etc. Many have awakened their consciousness with this formidable clue, because on asking this question, they floated in the air and realized that they were out of the body and that the body had been left asleep in bed. “It is because the soul wanders when the body sleeps.” But the soul can come out of its unconscious drowsiness with this clue. During the day, you should become accustomed to this exercise so that it be recorded in the subconscious and act, during sleep.

IVYou can also invoke your physical body from afar

Out of the body, the disciple asks the Inner-Self to bring the physical body. He also gives the mantrams for taking the body from the bed to the Gnostic Church.

A practice

You can also invoke your physical body from afar: you will kneel on the earth and pray to your Inner-Self like this: “Father, bring my body”. Then, thy Inner-Self wilt bring thee thy physical body. The atoms of your physical body will tell you: “I am your physical body, don’t you know me?” You will be astonished when you see thine own physical body in sleeping clothes, face to face, the same as you left it in bed! Then command thy physical body thus: “Jump over my head and penetrate through my pineal gland”. The Physical body will obey you and you will be with your physical body in any remote place of the earth. If someone was to enter your room in those instants, he or she would not find you. He or she would only find your empty bed.

VThe exercises of Gemini are the following

The exercise of the month in the Zodiacal Course: five breaths with the arms and legs opening and closing, and the request to the Inner-Self. The Hermetic Astrology gives the same movement, with the light now acting on the bronchi and lungs.

The exercises of Gemini are the following: The disciple should lie horizontally on his bed, relax his body and take five breaths of air with the intention that light now penetrates his lungs and bronchi. He will open his arms and legs with each inhalation and will close them with each exhalation. Then, seated on a comfortable chair, he will ask his Inner-Self to betake himself to the constellation of Gemini to bring the sidereal Gods of those temples, so that they will prepare his organism for practical magic.

During the zodiacal sign of Gemini, Gnostic students should lie down on their backs and relax the body. Next, one has to inhale the air five times and also exhale it five times; when one inhales one has to imagine that the light formerly accumulated in the larynx, now acts on the bronchi and lungs. Upon inhaling, the legs and arms will be opened to the left and to the right; the legs and arms will be closed upon exhaling.

How this was made. All fifty-two books were extracted (73,105 paragraphs, 2,157,671 words) and swept for the sign. The sweep took the whole Gemini chapters of three books: the Zodiacal Course (1951, ¶154–257, the lesson on Gemini, with the summary of the third lesson, ¶988–999; 116 paragraphs), the Esoteric Treatise of Hermetic Astrology (1967, ¶123–199, 77) and the Manual of Practical Magic (1954, ¶448–451, 4). It then took every other paragraph in any book that names Gemini or the Geminis (16), and every paragraph that names the twins, the twin souls, Castor, Pollux or the Dioscuri (96), for the readers to keep only where he ties them to the sign; the lines of his correspondence tables not already in, from Occult Medicine and Practical Magic (3); and, where his sentence ran across the paragraph break, the paragraph beside it (12). Mercury, the lungs and the breathing were not searched for on their own: they run all through his books on alchemy and on the breath, and the lessons on the sign carry what he says of them under Gemini. That returned 324 candidate paragraphs in 31 books, 174 of them already printed in another work of the shelf. Every candidate was read twice, by independent readers working from a written brief. Their files were cut before the last correction of the list: in place of the Mastic line of Occult Medicine (¶1615) they held the plant and perfume lines of the sign before (¶1516, ¶1614), and both readers set those aside and pointed to the Mastic line, which was then added. On the 323 candidates both read, the two passes agreed on whether to print 99.4% of the time and on the class 98.8% (99.1% on whether to print, counted over all 324). A third reader, who saw neither verdict, read the two disagreements on whether to print, the lead-in “Sick people must smell their zodiacal perfume” (¶1600, printed as a practice) and the bare label of the sign in the list of perfumes (¶1603, set aside); one difference of class, the heading of the zodiacal plants (¶1514, set aside as a heading); and the Mastic line (¶1615, printed). The other difference of class, the lead-in to the exercise of the month in the Zodiacal Course (¶253), was settled in placing, as teaching. 198 were judged printable, and 55 of them were joined into the passage before them where his sentence or his list ran across several paragraphs, so 143 passages are printed here. The rest are recorded with the reason each was set aside.

The practices were not gathered in a separate pass. The sixteen passages marked as practices are the ones the readers marked as giving the reader something to do. Nine are gathered as the last part, with the four passages that stand among them: the first two of the seven clues, the exercise of the month as the Zodiacal Course gives it, and the perfume of the sign. The other seven stay beside the teaching they belong to: calling Gabriel and knocking at the door, in the third part with the sidereal temples, and self-remembering, the watching of the thoughts, the division of attention and the question with the jump, in the fifth.

What was set aside. Of the 126 paragraphs the readers set aside, 84 spoke of twins, twin souls or the Dioscuri without tying them to the sign: the twin souls of the couple and of the Inner-Self, the Twin Saviour of the Pistis Sophia, twins in stories and myths, and “twin” as a plain word; another twelve were castor oil, which the sweep found with the name of Castor. Of the 96 paragraphs of the twins the sweep found, all 96 were set aside: where he ties the twins to Gemini, the lessons on the sign already hold it. Seventeen were headings, salutations, sign-offs, list numbers and the labels of his tables; thirteen belonged to the sign before or the sign after, or named Gemini only in a list of the signs or in passing.

Three mends, in four places, recorded. This page prints “Krumm Heller” for “Krumm Helter”; “all we did while we were out” for “all we did white we were out”; “to June 21st” for “to June 21s'”, as the scan has it: the name is spelled Krumm Heller by the same Zodiacal Course (¶448, ¶531); the same sentence goes on “since while every individual’s body is asleep” (¶999); and the same sentence of The Fifth Gospel prints “May 21st”, as the Manual of Practical Magic prints “May 21st to June 21st” (¶448). Otherwise the passages are printed as the extraction gives them, its remaining slips included (““externalpsychic””, “I will recognize myself I will recognize myself”, “Is this a phenomenon of the fourth dimension?””).

No sentence of his is cut in half. Each range was extended against the corpus until his sentence closed, and 26 ranges run over more than one paragraph. The one heading inside a printed range, EXERCISE in the Zodiacal Course (¶254), is not printed.

Nothing was left out on purpose. Where he says the same thing in two books in different words, both are printed: what the sign governs, its metal, stone and colour, the sephirah of Mercury in his two lists, the natives in three books, and the exercise of the month in two.

85 passages also stand in a finished work, and every one is marked where it stands, most often in The Keys of Astral Travel (28), Awakening (24) and Zodiacal Course (20). The repetition is wanted: this is the vocabulary of the whole teaching, and a reader who meets the same line in a second book holds it better. What is not allowed is an overlap a reader cannot see.

No passage carries an editor’s note. Every passage from his early books was read for a line that credits the Kundalini to anything other than the work of the couple, and none does: no passage of the sign names the Kundalini. Its exercises are given for the astral body, the Jinn state, the consciousness and the lungs and bronchi, and where they speak of waking, it is the consciousness that wakes.

Checked twice over. Every section and part title is a line of his, proved against the passages under it. And every passage was checked word for word against a fresh extraction of its book.
